Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl Tall Tale door bug

How to fix Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl Tall Tale door bug

The new Sea of Thieves Pirate’s Life update is out now, but players are having problems progressing thanks to the Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl Tall Tale door bug. This A Pirate’s Life Sunken Pearl bug affects the flooded statue room and can happen if too many players are trying to do the Tall Tale at the same time, which given the popularity of the update seems like a lot. But is there a Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl door bug fix at the moment, or do players have to wait for an update?

Is there a Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl Tall Tale door bug fix?

Sea of Thieves Sunken Pearl Tall Tale door bug

There are two possible fixes for the Sunken Pearl door bug in the Sea of Thieves A Pirate’s Tale mission:

  • It’s possible to get through by opening the first pathway after swimming into the cave and not using the ‘return to tall tale’ option, then hitting a plant next to the statue (which is supposed to be glowing). However, this doesn’t seem to work for everyone.
  • The only guaranteed way to fix the door bug is to switch servers. There will be some progress lost, and there’s no guarantee the bug won’t happen again, but this is the best option.

The door bug is caused by other players completing the statue puzzle too close to the player. What’s supposed to happen is that the statue puzzle is completed and the room floods to take players to the door to the next area. Unfortunately, if the player enters while the room is still flooded from the last load of adventurers, then the door will not open. Other than the fixes above, make sure the statue puzzle is indeed completed before calling it quits and hopping to another server.

The big free Pirates of the Caribbean expansion this week is obviously causing a flood (no pun intended) of players into Sea of Thieves, and was announced at Microsoft’s Xbox conference at E3 last week. It features Captain Jack Sparrow, the voodoo lady Tia Dalma, and Davey Jones with the iconic Flying Dutchman. Unfortunately, Johnny Depp is not playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the storyline, as Jack being played by Jared Butler from the Kingdom Hearts series of games.
