Diablo 4 Crashing Bug Fix Constant Disconnect

Diablo 4 Crashing Bug: How to Fix Constant Disconnect, Stuttering, and Latency

A persistent Diablo 4 crashing bug is making the game effectively unplayable for many players. After entering the game, some users report experiencing constant disconnects, in addition to a lot of stuttering, lag, and high latency. The lag tends to happen when the game has to load in a new zone or when it’s populating a town with other players. Meanwhile, the constant crashes can happen at seemingly any time, with the game running well for a few minutes or an hour until they experience a server disconnect. This has particularly impacted the start of Season 2, but has occurred a few times in the past and will likely continue to affect the game in future updates. Here’s how to fix the constant crashing issue with Diablo 4 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.

How to fix Diablo 4 crashing bug

The following solutions may help you to fix the constant crashing and disconnect bug for the game:

  • Turn off crossplay features – At the time of writing, Blizzard has turned off crossplay or cross-platform multiplayer due to a technical issue it found during the launch of Season 2. Until this is fixed, we recommend turning this off in the game’s settings. You may want to turn it off anyway to reduce potential lag.
  • Use a SSD instead of a regular hard drive – If you don’t already have Diablo 4 installed on a solid state drive, we recommend doing so as soon as possible.
  • Use a VPN, especially if you’re using Frontier – A user thread on the official Diablo 4 forums suggests that players using Frontier FIOS may be experiencing constant crashes more than most. In this case, using a “latency tunnel” or VPN looks like potential solutions to the issue.

Otherwise, you will need to wait until Blizzard provides an update that everything is back to normal. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 doesn’t have a public test server, so the start of any season is usually riddled with bugs, error codes, and other technical issues.
