Nintendo Unveils E3 Plans: Smash Bros. Tourney, No Press Conference

Nintendo has pulled back the curtain on its plans for E3 2014.

The company will once again not have a traditional press conference, but instead host a "Digital Event," which, according to Nintendo, is "a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond." The event will air on June 10th at 9AM PT.

In addition, the company will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament at the NOKIA Theatre. The game will also be coming to Best Buy retail locations so that the public can get some quality hands-on time with the Wii U version before it launches later this year.

Finally, the Nintendo Treehouse will be at E3 in full force, delivering "in-depth game demos live and unscripted from Nintendo's booth," which "will be live streamed during all hours of the E3 show."

What do you think of Nintendo's new approach to E3? Does it make up for the company not having a traditional press conference?
