The Finals Voice Chat Not Working Bug: How to Fix and Enable VOIP

A strange The Finals voice chat not working bug is something many players are wondering about. With The Finals beta playtest open on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, a lot of players have been finding matches that don’t have a lot of voice activity. For a team-based game, it’s important that players communicate with one another or else any kind of strategy might as well be thrown out the window. The reason why matches have been silent as far as party chat is concerned is how tricky it is to get voice chat to work, since it requires several steps. Here’s how to enable voice chat or VOIP in The Finals.

How to fix The Finals voice chat not working bug

To fix voice chat in The Finals and enable VOIP, you need to head to the in-game settings and turn it on before you are able to enter voice chat during a game.

For clarity, this problem with voice chat isn’t really a bug – it’s just complicated. For some reason, the option for voice chat is turned off by default within the settings. This means that people who are following the on-screen instructions and pressing ‘K’ to join voice chat, or pressing the R3 button if you’re on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version for the game, find that nothing is happening.

More Guides

From there, many players assume that VOIP just doesn’t work and enter a session with voice chat effectively disabled. On top of that, you need to assign a button for PTT (or push to talk) for you to say anything to your teammates. You can adjust what this keybind is within the game’s settings as well.

At any rate, we will say that turning on voice chat may still lead to matches where your team is still silent. But hopefully more people will know how to enable it in the first place, so that teams can follow through on some tactical plays.

If you’re unable to find a match in the game, here’s how to connect to the matchmaker without any error messages and not be stuck in the queue.
