The Finals Matchmaking Not Working: How to Fix “Connection to Matchmaker Was Lost” Error Message

A persistent The Finals matchmaking not working error is preventing players from entering the game. The Finals beta playtest is currently live for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but many players are stuck in the queue and are experiencing various logins errors. Sometimes they get a prompt that says that the “connection to matchmaker was lost” This is despite the fact that some are just trying to get into the tutorial. Fortunately, there is a solution that you can try to resolve the issue, though you will need to have a bit of patience. Here’s how to fix matchmaking errors for The Finals on all platforms.

How to fix The Finals matchmaking not working error

There are several ways to fix issues with matchmaking not working for The Finals, and both methods are fairly easy to do:

  • Spam the join button – By hitting the join button over and over again, it is possible that you actually find a session. However, we recommend not doing this too often as this might lock you into the queue.
  • Change the region – The game’s matchmaking region is set to automatic by default, but you can manually change the region to something else, like Europe. If you can’t enter a session, it usually means that the servers in your particular region are overloaded at the moment, and there’s a chance that connecting to the servers in another region will help you find an open session.
More Guides

Even though The Finals beta started earlier today, the servers seem to be overloaded with an influx of new players, especially in North America. A part of the beta is to pressure-test the servers, so this is providing a lot of good information for developer Embark Studios.

At the time of writing, The Finals playtest has over 100,000 players based just on Steam numbers alone, with a peak of almost 150,000 players so the developer may be surprised by all of the interest.
