Xbox ROG Ally X Arrives Early to Lucky Gamers’ Doorsteps

The launch of the Xbox ROG Ally X is on the horizon, but some gamers have managed to get their hands on the new gaming device. They have shared their reviews of the system on social media. The Xbox ROG Ally X was co-developed by Microsoft and Asus’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. Pre-orders for the device began on September 25, 2025.

Users receive the Xbox ROG Ally X earlier than expected

Some users have managed to get their hands on the Xbox ROG Ally X two weeks ahead of its October 16 launch.

One Reddit user, hmika59, took to the platform to share a picture of the device — which they pre-ordered from Amazon France — in their hand. They also offered a brief review highlighting their experience using it. “First impression: very light and comfortable,” the user wrote. They added that holding the device after using the Steam Deck felt like “holding an Xbox controller.”

After one hour of testing, they praised the system’s ergonomics, but said that they missed their Steam Deck’s OLED screen “a bit.” Further, they noted that although the performance was better than the Steam Deck’s, the device’s Xbox mode wasn’t “as pleasant to use as SteamOS.” “I will probably switch to Bazzite whatever device I’ll keep,” they added.

The user later shared a more detailed review of the system. Check out what they had to say below:

Another user, Technical_Fun77, also shared their review of the Xbox ROG Ally X. Like the aforementioned user, they praised the gaming device’s ergonomics, highlighting its controlled weight. They also shared that the Armoury Crate feature in full-screen was “very responsive.” The user further stated there were no latency issues with buttons and highlighted game menu fluidity, “superb battery life,” and the console’s quietness. Moreover, they noted that the console was “well cooled even at high TDP.” (via Windows Central)

The only gripe the user had with the handheld console was that they couldn’t find a place to install their emulators, non-steam games, and other things in full-screen. They concluded they could only install games from official gaming platforms.

The ROG Xbox Ally X costs $999.99. Meanwhile, the standard ROG Xbox Ally retails for $599.99.
