Samsung Z Trifold Launching in South Korea For ~$2,450

Samsung seems to have taken the advantage over Apple in the race to master the foldable screen technology, following the official announcement of its Trifold phone. The South Korean conglomerate revealed the Galaxy Z TriFold’s price and release date at a recent tech event, beating rival Apple to the feat, which has yet to release its first foldable device.

Samsung is launching its Galaxy Z TriFold

On December 2, at an event in Seoul, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold phone, featuring three screens and two folds.

As per Bloomberg, while the model functions as a regular smartphone when all its screens are folded, it turns into a tab-like device with a 10-inch display when unfolded completely. In such a setting, the Galaxy Z TriFold can also run separate applications on each of the three screens.

“Samsung’s first trifold model will ship in very limited volume, but scale is not the objective,” the company’s Counterpoint Research analyst Liz Lee noted in the launch event. “With competitive dynamics set to shift materially in 2026, especially with Apple’s expected entry into the foldable segment, Samsung is positioning this device as a multi-fold pilot to reinforce its technology leadership.”

Meanwhile, in a bid to address concerns regarding potential breakage, Samsung has claimed to have revamped the screen hinges as well as the aluminum frame of the Trifold. Additionally, the company has agreed to issue a one-time 50% discount on display repair costs, provided that such a predicament arises. Packed with a 5,600 milliamp-hour battery, the Trifold measures just 3.9 millimeters in thickness when fully extended.

Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch the Galaxy Trifold Z in South Korea on December 12 at an estimated price close to $2,450. While the technology juggernaut has plans to introduce its one-of-a-kind product in the US markets, it has yet to disclose an official release date or price for the same. Other potential markets include China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
