The goldfish that gained widespread attention for playing the critically acclaimed Elden Ring game, Tortellini, has died. Popular gaming YouTuber and the owner of Tortellini, PointCrow, confirmed the news of his talented pet’s death via an update on his social media profile. His post has since gone viral, with fans flooding the comment section with supportive and encouraging messages.
Fans mourn the loss of gamer goldfish who beat Elden Ring’s bosses
On November 27, PointCrow took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the demise of his video game-playing goldfish, Tortellini, at the age of three. In his update, the internet personality revealed that the fish had “been unwell for the past couple weeks fighting a systemic bacterial infection.” Despite taking the best care, PointCrow had to bid Tortellini goodbye, who passed away due to his ailments.
Instead of dwelling on his loss, PointCrow celebrated Tortellini’s unique endeavors in his tribute. “I really want to highlight all the accomplishments Tortellini has done,” the YouTuber noted, before adding, “Not only was he one of the only goldfish to play video games, he defeated some of the hardest bosses in Elden Ring — Malenia and Consort Radahn to name a few. He was a big spender, notably buying an Oil Cooler Inlet Pipe for a Nissan Altima and TWO designer bags. He was there to make us all laugh and bewilder us on how a small fish could do so much. He’s lived a god damn good life.”
Notably, Tortellini made use of a custom motion-tracking rig, which allowed him to register his movements in his tank to register as actions on games such as Elden Ring.
As such, dejected fans paid their respects to the fallen goldfish, with one X user writing, “That guy nibbled not only on my finger… but on my heart.” Another user stated, “So sorry for your loss 🙁 rip to the best elden ring fish player that ever was.” A third user expressed their sorrow by commenting, “Rip tortellini. Truly a historical fish. Swim high.”
