Lepro E1 AI Outdoor Lights Review

The Lepro E1 AI Outdoor Lights aren’t just for the holidays or Christmas; they’re an outdoor lighting setup aiming to be relevant throughout the entire year. Sure, they might be best suited to lighting up the outside of the house with red and green for Christmastime, but when the festivities are over, why not keep the lighting going with some simple warm lighting or go for a different RGB theme for other holidays. The E1 aims to take outdoor lighting a bit further. Here is my review.

The sky’s the limit

With individually addressable segments, the Lepro E1 is much more advanced than your typical one-setting LEDs. The E1 can be customized in countless ways, with RGB lighting made up of different patterns and these can even be animated.

The Lepro app powers the personalization process, giving users the power to fine-tune settings from their phone or tablet. It works well and the addition of AI, which creates lighting setups based on a user prompt, can make the process fun.

To AI or not to AI?

With or without the help of AI, getting the E1 set up to look exactly how you want it is simple. The app is responsive and the changes are made quickly. I was expecting a huge headache, but that happily wasn’t the case.

While Christmas provided the best opportunity to use the E1, the ability to change them to warm white lighting for the rest of the year is huge. You don’t have to bother with putting them up and taking them down again when the holidays begin and end, as you can instead tailor them to either a subtle white or tune them to the next holiday. If a football match is playing, you could customize them to the team’s colors, for example.

The lighting quality is overall very good and the bulbs get plenty bright, without being super distracting. Of course, they work best in total darkness, but they are noticeable as soon as the sun goes down.

Some nitpicks

The biggest weakness of the E1 relates to one of its biggest strengths: the app. While the Lepro app is powerful, it is also necessary. There are no physical controls for these lights, meaning you have to turn to the app to interact with them.

I have to also say that while the AI is cool to get some ideas, I ultimately found myself fine-tuning my own settings to get the perfect setup.
