Viral leaks show new Xbox Elite 3 cloud gaming controller
Brazilian outlet Tecnoblog shared the first look of the next-gen Xbox Elite controller alongside reported specifications related to Xbox Cloud Gaming. The leaked images also made their way to X. An X account named Xbox Stock Alerts shared them, writing, “Xbox Elite 3 controller leaked.” The post has garnered 4.1K likes as of writing.
Based on the leaked images, the controller boasts a slick design as compared to a standard Xbox Wireless Controller. Although it is more compact in design, it includes all the standard Xbox button layouts, triggers, bumpers, and analog sticks. The top of the controller also features a USB-C port.
However, the most significant change is reportedly the addition of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The next-gen Xbox controller will also reportedly sport a removable rechargeable battery and a new pair of buttons, which will allow players to switch between local play and cloud mode. This feature will help reduce delays and provide a more seamless gaming experience (via IGN and Dexerto).
The leaked photos also suggest that Microsoft is testing the next-gen Elite controller in two colors: white and black. Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement regarding its release or pricing as of writing. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from feeling excited at the possibility of getting their hands on the next-gen Xbox Elite 3 Cloud Gaming Controller.
One fan commented, “Awesome wonder if it’ll break as quick as the elite 1+2 do.” A second fan wrote, “That’s nice. It looks comfortable and ergonomic, as long as the joysticks are TMR or Hall effect.” A third fan penned, “Xbox is finally cooking up a proper Cloud Gaming controller. That black one with the side sticks looks like it was made for phone/tablet streaming. Is Microsoft actually listening to the cloud gang for once?”
Finally, one fan remarked, “This could actually be good for laptop gaming on the go. Hopefully, it’s fairly priced.”
