Best of 2015 Awards: Best Shooter

Winner: Halo 5: Guardians

2015 wasn't a great year for shooters, but at the very least Halo 5: Guardians provided a balanced mixture of casual and competitive fun. Its shooting mechanics stood out as the best among the competition, with phenomenal weapon and gunplay design. It didn't do anything fancy, and instead focused on a highly precise, raw environment. That said, its introduction of Thruster Pack, Spartan Charge, Clamber, and a few other Spartan maneuvers helped reinvigorate the franchise, making it a force to be reckoned with.

Nominees: Splatoon, Destiny: The Taken King, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
