15 Tips For Success In Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy is back, this time with a huge open-world adventure. Final Fantasy XV is a bit different than you're used to from the series, which means that there's a whole lot to learn. To help ease you into the experience we've put together a list of vital tips. Check them out below.

Magic is more than just damage. Spells like Fire will have environmental effects that can be used to combo enemies provided they're in a bad position. As you play the game longer and become more acclimated you'll learn to only use magic when the situation is right, and these environmental applications are one major element to pay attention to.

Choose your combat style. In the Options you can enable "Wait Mode" to slow down combat in a more traditional Final Fantasy format, where the game pauses to allow inputs. This combat structure makes the game feel less action oriented, yet more strategic. Try it out and see if it's better suited for your tastes.

Bunnyhop like a rabbit. Stamina is a huge bottleneck when navigating the world as it prevents you from running as much as you want or need to. However, when you jump during a sprint you carry your momentum with you and regenerate some stamina mid-flight. With this in-mind, you can spam Jump often to move more quickly through the world.

Stay well fed. Food is worth cooking and eating as it'll make your characters more powerful. This is just a small way to give you an extra edge in combat. You can view whether or not food benefits are still in effect on your user interface.

Win on trade.Gil is highly sought after, and you aren't going to come across it nearly as easily as in other Final Fantasy games. Instead, you will regularly find items that can be sold to vendors for some income. Make sure you do this often to position yourself financially to buy the best equipment. For more on making money fast, see here.

Watch out when the Sun falls. At night enemies are more dangerous. Although this means that you'll face greater competition, it also means greater rewards. The enemies you face will be higher level with even greater loot. Good luck out there.

Running out of MP is bad. MP is required for the most exciting attacks, including magic. However, it can be depleted. When this happens, you'll want to hide behind cover and hold the dodge button (square on PS4) to begin regenerating. You can also warp to certain ledges (denoted with a blue icon) to instantly restore your mana. These aren't always available, but when they are they provide huge moments of momentum.

Ignis is a great healer. AP is used to acquire a variety of skills for your characters. In the case of Ignis, you have access to several useful healing magic spells. This makes a huge difference in terms of your sustainability and is a must-have investment for anyone serious about having the most potent party possible.

Warp it like it's hot. The warp is one of your best moves as it allows you to move a great distance to deliver a powerful strike on an unsuspecting enemy. What you might have missed from the tutorial is that the damage scales depending on how far away you warped from. So, you'll want to weave in and out of melee range dashing with warp attacks to wear down an enemy. This is particularly effective against dangerous enemies that hit hard. Alternatively, you can use warp to move away from enemies, or even

Hold the line. By holding the dodge button (square on PS4), you can phase to become resilient to many attacks. In other words, you don't have to employ impeccable dodge timing to actively mitigate damage. Though, you will want to be careful as phasing drains your MP.

Hunt quests are a great second option. These are picked up at diners around the world, and send you on a side quest to kill a particular enemy. Not only are these fun, they have great rewards. Although there are a lot of side quests in the game, these are probably the most well worth your investment, especially in terms of gil.

Be an assassin. If you sneak up to Human enemies you can tap the assassinate button (triangle on PS4) to destroy the target in a single attack. Yes, this means that there is a stealth element to the game, so pay attention to where enemies are facing before jumping into a combat situation.

Grab Analyze. Available for 6 AP in Ignis' tree, you can unlock this ability to instantly scan enemies and learn about them. The details include weaknesses, which you will want to exploit to the fullest.

Keep an eye out. There is treasure scattered all across the world. Sometimes you'll find crafting materials, while other times you'll find high value treasure. You'll be rewarded for your curiosity when out and about.

Having trouble? You can switch to Easy difficulty in the Options. This will resurrect you when you die among other things that make the game more manageable. This is recommendable for players who are primarily playing for the story and aren't interested in combat.
