What Are You Playing? Fallout Shelter, Devil May Cry, and Burnout

The week after E3 is always a toughie. Everyone’s recuperating, there’s no big news, and there’s a general feeling of “if I see one more video game, I may explode.” Fortunately, none of us have exploded, and we’ve still been at GR playing video games and covering the latest topics for our lovely readers. Here’s a rundown of what we’ve been playing this week, and let us know what YOU have been playing in the comments below!

Paul Tamburro, Executive Editor: I’ve been playing Burnout Paradise Remastered. It looks like ass, but it’s amazing how well-designed its open world is. Navigating its map becomes second nature after playing for a few hours until driving around it feels like navigating your hometown’s roads. Only you’re drifting around its corners at 120 mph and desperately trying to shunt other drivers into lampposts. Good stuff.

Michael Leri, Staff Writer: I made an unexpected detour to Detroit and, unlike real life, I enjoyed my time there. Detroit: Become Human is very much a David Cage Game™, which means it needs an editor and has its fair share of hammy, senseless, and tone-deaf moments, but that also means it has a few standout sections. While I am just near the end, it’s actually a fairly cohesive story with some genuinely creative and tense moments peppered throughout. The studio just needs to stop harassing their employees and acting so persecuted.

Mack Ashworth, Staff Writer: Finally making my way through Far Cry 5. Co-op is fantastic, just as I expected. Contemplating another play through The Witcher 3, what with all this Cyberpunk hype…

Alleef Ashaari, News Writer: It’s post-E3 2018 and I’m still trying to get over all the hype. Thanks to the Devil May Cry 5 reveal, I’ve been playing Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition on the PS4. It reminded me of how much I don’t like Nero, and I hope there’s going to be more Dante or Vergil in the upcoming sequel, despite the trailers showing otherwise.

Astrid Johnson, News Writer: I’ve been playing the first Dark Souls. Tried to really stick to it this time too, and after watching some people playing through it and looking up tips and tricks, I’ve been doing that a lot better this time around. Praise the sun!

Aimee Hart, News Writer: I can’t stop playing Fallout Shelter. And criticizing everything about it, which is a funny way of me saying ‘I’m having fun but why don’t my people care that others are dying around them because I absolutely suck at being their Overseer?’ Great game though despite its faults, and its free! You should play it, what have you got to lose?

Bradley Russell, Guides Writer: I’ve been on a massive PS2 kick recently so, inexplicably, I’m playing Spyro: A Hero’s Tail. I never played it the first time around and… I can see why. Spyro is a snarky little prick in this one and they’ve reversed the commands for fire breath and charge. Still, it’s a nice little oddity to get me prepped for the main course of the Reignited Trilogy in September.
