The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind A Guide to the Best Warden Race

Although on the surface it may appear specialized, the Warden is an incredibly well-rounded class in The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. Similar to the Templar, it can perform well in all three roles, fulfilling a group spot as a DPS, healer, or tank.

In the case of the Warden, these roles are broken down as follows:

  • Animal Companions – DPS
  • Green Balance – Healing
  • Winter’s Embrace – Tanking

Due to this wide breadth of capability, the best race for Warden is dependent upon how you plan to play it. While one style of play may best be suited for one race, another may have a very different preference.

To oversimplify it, the following is recommended:

  • Pure Animal Companions Build (DPS) – Dunmer
  • Pure Green Balance Build (Healing) – Breton
  • Pure Winter’s Embrace build (Tanking) – Nord

As you move into hybrid builds the optimal race becomes less clear. At this point you can safely play just about whatever you desire and be effective.

Note that race choices make a very small impact on your effectiveness in The Elder Scrolls Online. Looks, and role playing if that’s relevant to you, is perhaps the most important element, as if you don’t like your character that’s a big problem.

Good luck in Morrowind!
