* 1. A Brief Foreword *

*****************************************************************************

Beating this game was so awesome. Not only does it confirm that Capcom is

finally setting this series on a playable track, I can now say I've beaten a

DMC game. For the next game, they should consider just having boss fight after

boss fight, because the bosses are great. It's a great game, a game that

everyone can play, and it's just beautiful.

Hmm, Capcom fixed the Resident Evil and DMC series with the fourth games,

TheGum.

*****************************************************************************

* 3. Starter Tips ( TIPS333 ) *

*****************************************************************************

*Be aggressive, B-E AGGRESSIVE! - it's true for about all enemies, but mostly

for the bosses. The first time you run into Echidna you will be intimidated,

but once you realize just jumping up and slashing away is the key, she and

most the other bosses are actually easy.

*Smash and grab - always keep an eye or two open for things to smash for orbs.

Not only does it count toward your rank, you need to buy items.

*Skill up wisely - don't buy just anything, and if you do, think about if you

will really use that skill and then consider trading it back in for what you

spent on it. Air Hike, Snatch, Streak, and many others are staples that you

must grab ASAP.

*Snatch and slash - as Nero, the Devil Bringer to snatch enemies is about the

only reason I played this game after playing the demo. Learn to master hacking

and then snatching enemies. It will also help on bosses. Also learn to when

you can buster both enemies and bosses; buster is using the Devil Bringer when

not locked-on.

*For Devil's sakes! - know when to use the Devil Trigger in boss fights. For

Nero, it's always before you go for a buster. For Dante, it's always to finish

off the boss; well, Nero too.

*If it ain't broke, don't fix it - this is for most of you newcomers to DMC.

This game uses a style and rank system. For using many combos and attacks, you

are given higher stylish ranks. But most will find that streaking or stingering

an enemy to death works just fine. If you don't care so much about the stylish

rank, feel free to button mash.

*Charged particles - a tip from me to you, don't buy any charged shots for

any guns. And if you do, get a refund as soon as you're done with it.

*One save file - that means all your skills and abilities will carry over

while on the same difficulty. So if you want, play a mission over and over

until you have all the skills and items you can buy, but little reason to

unless you are terrible.

Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough

===============================

Mission 01 - Birds of a Feather M01BOAF

===============================

When you're ready to play, the first mission will be more or less a tutorial,

and the challenge is not here because you can't die. I'll assume Devil Hunter

mode and that the tutorials are on.

The first task is to shoot him, so shoot him a lot. Then you must jump to avoid

Dante's attacks, which you just watch his guns move and jump; three times if

you didn't realize. Then comes the slide roll, R1 + sideways with the Lstick

+ X. Just hold down R1, move in all directions, and press X as Dante attacks.

After the cutscene, press Triangle four times for the Red Queen Combo A.

Feel free to hold R1 as you do it. Then comes the High Roller: R1 + hold

back + Triangle. Pretty simple as he taunts a lot.

Another cutscene and then you get to use Nero's new Devil Bringer, which is

what makes him so awesome (please get to know how to use this early). To do a

Buster, just press O near and enemy. Just run up to Dante and do it three times

for the next cutscene.

-----

BOSS: Dante

Difficulty: Nonexistant

Then comes a real fight, where you can die. But it's hella easy. Just jump and

run to him, and you can ignore the bullets as it just wastes time to dodge

them. Just use the Buster move on him and keep slashing with your sword. Don't

waste bullets either; not because you actually have a set amount of ammo but

because the bullets do little damage. There will be few little bits in there

after you use the buster where the two of you go into a sorta dual thing, but

I guess just mash buttons because I don't know if you actually have to do

anything. It's real easy, and if you die then consider dropping down to the

human difficulty level in a new game, and if you're on human, go play outside?

-----

After and in the rank screen, you get a proud soul. These are used before you

enter a mission, or at a statue to gain skills. You can even unlearn the skills

to learn others.

Don't forget to always save after a mission.

================================

Mission 02 - La Porte De L'Enfer M02LPDL

================================

Well, after the B-movie quality cutscene, which is why we love DMC, you will

go into the mission start screen. Don't forget to buy skills. You only have

99 to spend, so you can get the Streak for the Red Queen (your sword), or

Split. I like split myself. Red orbs are for buying items, but you can't afford

nothing at the moment.

In the mission, you learn of the map and the lock-on. Juse use the buster and

the attack button on the three enemies, simple. Enter the door on the right.

*NOTE: Remember, do the High Roller combo to send enemies into the air, and

follow that up with a split attack, if you bought that skill.*

Storehouse

Two barrels to break and use the wall kick to reach the gold orb. Go up the

stairs and jump across the gap to reach the upper level, and break the crates

and barrels in the hall to find your first green orbs, which replenish health.

In the room you fight four more enemies, which is easy with the any combos

I've described. Smash all the objects and move on.

Terrace / Business District

Move forward and enter the first door you see.

Cathedral

Go down the steps and toward the blue thing and press X. You gain the most

uberest, coolest ability for the game, Evil Legacy. It allows you to reach far

with your Devil Bringer. Before you step on the blue pad, notice on either side

of this room that there are green things in the cells. One has a Vital Star S,

and you get it by holding R1 and pressing O. Then step on the blue pad and

use the Hell Bound again to get up, and then again to reach the door. There

are red orbs in the benches on the upper levels, and above the barred doors if

you want them; and you grab the big red orb across the gap with your Hell

Bound.

Terrace / Business District

Use the blue pad to get over the gap. Then you run into a secret mission on a

spike thing.

*****

Secret Mission 01 - Annihilation

It's a bit harder than you think. The idea is to kill all the enemies before

time expires. Just keep your lock-on on the nearby enemy and use your Hell

Bound to reach for them. Follow up with a High Roller and a split. Do this

for all the enemies and you should be done with about five seconds to spare, or

just try again. (the Hell Bound move when used on enemies is called Snatch)

You are rewarded with a Blue Orb Fragment.

*****

Back in the real world, go forward and use the blue pad to enter another fight.

Kill the two measly enemies and move on. The next area has another sealed

fight, where you are prompted with the Snatch move I've already taught you.

Just lock on, keep pressing O to Snatch, Buster, High Roller, and Split your

way to success. Enter the next area.

Residential District

Just drop and run along to learn of the Exceed system, which sounds great,

but it's a bit confusing. You just briefly hold L2 and then attack, but no

big deal for the moment; though I would encourage you to use it to just test

it out. There are two enemies at the corner, some objects to smash, and then

a big rock of red orbs. Hack away at this thing a lot to get all the orbs.

On the left side you can jump up to reach the roof with some red orbs, but you

really want the blue orb fragment in a crevice on the left. Then jump down and

kill the last enemy if he's still there. A dumpster to trash and then onward.

Port Caerula

At the dock, as soon as you can, turn left and double jump up the rock wall

to grab a quick orb. Follow the dock to a blue step and go over. Follow the

path to a warehouse.

Customs House

A quick fight and then you need to hack away at a blue turn wheel to unlock

the path. Go up and you'll be outside. Go use the controls and lucky you will

get them to work. Then make your way back to the port. You can ignore all the

enemies if you want, or you can fight. Cross the bridge and move on.

First Mining Area

Different then the demo, FYI. Red orbs in the water and the Hell Bound up

the blue things. Up there will be a thing on the left that you can beat up on

to get a blue orb fragment. Then go visit the Divinity Statue. You can buy

some items. I recommend at least the blue orb here, maybe a second but most

likely not. If you are unsure you your ability, maybe buy two Vital Star S's

if you want.

Ferrum Hills

Hmm, also different from the demo, oh well. Just run forward for a boss fight.

-----

BOSS: Berial

Difficulty: Easy

"It's been a while," oh yeah, that's good writing there. Anyway, so long as you

keep the houses away from him and save them for later, the green orbs inside

will get you by easily. Just use the Devil Bringer to get up to his head and

then slash away. When you land, do it again. When he goes limp and lies on the

ground, slash and then buster for a powerful attack. Be sure to run away and

jump to avoid his recovery attack. At some point, he will start to send fire

spires under your feet, so be ready to roll dodge a few times in a row. Jump

to avoid his slashes or roll, and roll away from his charge attack. Lead him to

the houses if you need health and do another Devil Bringer when he goes down to

end the fight, hopefully. It seems attacking from the side of his head, or the

shoulder, works well. You always have that gold orb which will revive you

if you're killed. Just keep snatching and slashing to victory.

-----

After the fight, run to the exit.

===========================

Mission 03 - The White Wing M03TWWG

===========================

As far as powering up, Snatch 2 is a good buy. Probably can't afford Streak or

anything else. You'll notice increases in costs for each thing on the menu,

which happens every time you buy something.

As the level starts, run forward and turn right to fight three enemies. Then

turn around and go left, break some boards, and hack at a red rock. If the red

rock orbs allow you to buy a blue orb at the statue, do it. Back in the room

where you fought the enemies, jump up and climb the blue points until you see

an opening into a room.

*NOTE: There are two more blue points above this opening. If you use them and

then wall kick to go higher, you should see more blue points and you'll be

taken to a blue orb fragment.*

Some enemies in the room, so do as you've been doing. After, jump up into the

tunnel opening and hang a quick left to grab a Vital Star. Break the boards and

continue outside.

Fortuna Castle Gate

Jump left for a red orb along the ledges, then follow the path (I'm reminded of

the dash feature from the demo as this is a much longer trek than I remember).

After the cutscene, you are fighting two Frost. They are just like normal

enemies, and using the Devil Bringer is a must against them. They have a few

added touches, but if you just keep using your bringer and don't let them up,

you will only take a hit or two from the other one so long as two are alive.

When it's just one, you can just keep sending him into the air and slashing.

Just don't let them up, use your bringer, and send them into aerial combos.

After, just run to the castle for a very foxy cutscene (similarities to the

demo end here). Enter the castle.

Grand Hall

Chairs and benches to destroy. There is a statue in the corner and two odd

objects that you can do nothing with. Enter the door on the left.

Large Hall

Three enemies in here spread far apart. To the left is an object you cannot

break, but near it is a mirror you can for some orbs. Continue on for three

more enemies and then hang a left to enter the door. If you are curious, there

are a few more enemies down the hall, some lamps to break and some things to

look at, and a door to enter, but just take this door on the west.

Torture Chamber

Fight this bunch of enemies, singling out individuals if you like; use the

streak to send one away from the group if you don't want to be mobbed. After,

climb up some stairs and look over the chamber you just crossed. You will see

all the blue points appear and disappear. Use the first one to get across and

then the next one. You'll then need to wait for the next ones to line up and

then use them. For the rest, just wait for all of the line to appear and then

go over as quickly as you can. If you fall, it's another fight. When you reach

the narrow corridor, follow it to be on the second level of the grand hall.

Grand Hall

Just go up and around to enter the courtyard.

Central Courtyard

Just two more Frosts on your way to the door. The one you don't fight will

probably send ice spikes your way, so either get close or far away so that he

will come to you.

Foris Falls

Down the steps is a pillar thing with a star above it; just double jump over

and use the bringer to grab it at the top of your jump. That's it, just swing

up the other steps to enter the other side of the upper courtyard.

Two more Frosts on this side, so apply the same strategy.

In the Grand Hall, go around the corner and slash at a device that will lower

the shields all around this hall. A door will be open, so take it.

Gallery

A big fight and then just take the open door. If the fights are hard, then I'll

remind you to use the Snatch, High Roller, combo, split, and streak if you

have them. Lots of objects to smash too.

Library

*NOTE: Use the buster, just the regualer O button without locking on, and it

may do something very nice to these enemies. Try it on others too. For the

White Knights, keep pressing O to cause more damage.*

Just a statue that probably does you little good. Then go through the door.

After the scene, a fight with five white knight things. You just use your

bringer to get up and behind them, then lay into their tops and backs. It's

real easy, and once you get them down they are like Frosts in that you can

keep them down if you keep using your bringer. If they do stand back up and

go into a guard stance, just use your snatch again. The last wave is with two,

which is not hard since you've fought two Frosts at a time already.

After you kill them all, small items around this room and there is an upper

level you can jump to, but just into the side room and touch the column. You

gain the Anima Mercury. End level.

=========================

Mission 04 - Cold Blooded M04COBL

=========================

Pre-mission, consider grabbing either Roulette Spin or Caliber, but only after

you have Streak and Split. And that's probably it.

Go over the the Gyro Blade and use your Devil Bringer on it. You can slash at

these to get them spinning, and when you use your bringer again you will send

it flying. Attack them and release when enemies are near. For now, just hit it

toward the door to open it and make your way back.

Gallery

Yep another fight, but this time with less enemies and two Frosts. It's one

Frost and then another. Just keep up the same combos and don't forget that you

can use the Gyro Blade in here too if you want. Smash the objects before you

leave.

Grand Hall

You can send the Gyro Blade into the box, but you reveal a seal that you can

do nothing with. Enter the door on the right.

Follow the hall up and go into the door on the right to enter the Dining Room.

Dining Room

You have a fight with two white knights, and don't forget to smash the items

on and around the table. Go into the hall and come down to find the blade.

Get it revved up and send it into the long corridor with the fireball. Keep

spinning it up and send it all the way to the end to smash the fireball

machine. Then go touch the red thing on the wall, but only if you don't mind

risking having to die and restart the mission. If you don't care about these

things, then skip ahead.

*****

Secret Mission 02 - Alley-Oop

It's easier than you think. Just go into the center, jump, at the highest point

in your jump lock-on and use the devil bringer, then unlock and use the normal

buster, then immediately after you toss him lock-on and devil bring again, and

just repeat until you do it five times. You risk little if you stay in the

air, and if you mess up and just keep trying, dead enemies will drop green

orbs. If you do it right, just grab the fragment and you're done.

But remember, there is a difference between using your devil bringer while

locked-on and not. When not, that is your buster.

*****

Go through the door to be back in the large hall.

Large Hall

Kill the Scarecrows (the enemies I've just learned the names of) and then hack

at the blue wheel to open the gate. Send the blade through the gate and use it

to clear the hallway of enemies. When you get to the top, keep sending it down

the other side until it breaks the seal holding the other blade. Send one blade

back to the top once the the fourth is free and follow it back as you clear

enemies. Put the third on a spot by the gate and then go bring the fourth onto

the other spot. Grab the green orb and go through. Buy a blue orb at the statue

if you have the money, I mean orbs.

Central Courtyard

This is the lower level of an area you've already gone through. Run forward

for a sexy cutscene, and then hack away at the strange beings. After some

hacking, another scene reveals these to be like the tips of those things on

angler fish. The real boss is a toad, I think.

-----

BOSS: Bael

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

It's pretty simple, just stay away from his front. If you do go for a frontal

attack, just quickly go for his throat and avoid his sweeping attacks with the

bait women. Don't stay in front too long or he will swallow you and cause

massive damage. Once you do get in some good hits, he will go limp, so you run

up and use a buster for a powerful attack. It's always best to run to one

side to avoid most of his attacks.

After that, or before, he will make it snowy and you will only see the

lure women. Fight them as you would, just dodge their attacks and watch for

when one spins around, that is your cue to run away. Keep hacking away at

them and the toad will reappear. If you beat up on one long enough, use a

buster on it and the toad will also reappear.

Then it's just go after the throat, dodge his attacks, and wait for the

tongue to stick out to finish this fight. He will go red when close to death,

and that's your cue to end it quickly. Feel free to use a vital star or two.

-----

You gain the Rvsalka Corpse and a gate on the left will be open.

*NOTE: Just realized from the main menu of the game that I guessed right on the

White Knights, that's their name!*

======================

Mission 05 - Trisagion M05TRIA

======================

Might be a good time to buy Speed under the abilities screen, but it's up to

you.

In the graveyard you will fight two Mephisto. You use your normal buster on

them twice to take away their cloak and then lay into them. They will recover

just once if you do enough damage and only require one more stripping. They

are very easy, and you can just stay jumping in the air the whole time.

After, you are told how the Rvsalka thing works. It will reveal secret things

for you. You can start by smashing all the items in this graveyard, and then go

to the second grove by the wall and stand on the box thing to get free orbs

via your Rvsalka. Then you'll find another on the third box thing. After you

completely destroy the graveyard, go smash the fences by the stairs to find a

secret mission under the steps. Skip it though, I just showed you so you can

make a note of it. Just go up the steps and through the door.

*NOTE: Need to wait until after you beat Credo to do this, so skip it here.

You can do it now, but you'll have to dodge attacks and taunt flawlessly.*

Master's Chamber

Just a fight with some White Knights. If you haven't realized, do a snatch to

get behind them, then run up and do a buster for an awesome attack. Repeat

until all are dead. After the fight you can break the mirror over the fireplace

for a secret mission. This is an easy one that has no risk of death.

*****

Secret Mission 10 - Puppet Master

*NOTE: Streak and Speed are good for shaving off valuable seconds.*

The idea is to use this gyro blade to bust 5 blue spires along this hall. Start

by turning it on and then streaking into it and send it straight down the hall.

Remember to always take your time to line up where you will send this thing.

When you reach the top, launch it into the spire, and after you need to be

sure you line it up with the hallway by not powering it up. Down the other

hall you need to take your time with sending it into the two on the sides. Just

use unpowered hits and slowly push it into the sides spires, and then just

blast it into the one at the end of the hall.

*****

May need to re-fight the Knights, or don't. Just go out the door.

Torture Chamber

Go hack away at the blue wheel on the right and the bridge is made. You can

play it safe and slowly push the blade to the spire, or just do one powered up

blast straight down the path. Not sure what happens if you drop it off the

bridge, but I imagine you have to fight more enemies and bring it up

the stairs. Once you crack the blue spire you will take a tumble

At the bottom of the pit, you got some Mephisto to battle with. Remember, two

busters and then lay into them; roulette spins help. Then go grab the Wing

Talisman. This will activate a series of jumping platforms that you can take

up to the top. On the second jump you will reach a cell with some secret orbs,

and on the third you will find an orb rock.

Back in the chamber, a fight with Scarecrows and two Mephisto.

In the large hall you can fight three Frosts, or ignore and enter the grand

hall.

Grand Hall

In the grand hall, jump on the pad you've revealed from the broken box and

jump on the chandelier. Cut at the thing hold it up to reveal the path. Go

through the painting and down to the sewer area; use the Devil Bringer to grab

the Vital Star.

Underground Laboratory

Just run to end the level.

=========================

Mission 06 - Resurrection M06RESU

=========================

Buy nothing if you can't afford anything good.

Go around the pit for a fragment before you drop down. Not sure if you can get

any of the orbs while falling, but it's possible. At the bottom just go through

the door.

R&D Access

Run up to the door for a cutscene and then a fight. In order to reveal these

sharks things, you just use you gun, in case you forgot you had one. Just

blast away at one until it bottoms up and then go buster it and then just keep

attacking it. The other two will be more aggressive after you kill one, so

get the next one quickly. When there is only one, it will be fast and provide

you few chances to attack it, but just keep the lock-on held down and shoot

whenever you see it. Just roll to avoid their attacks and don't stay in one

spot for too long. After the fight, go through the door.

Game Room

An odd game you must play here. The dice will rotate in a set pattern: 2 6 3

5 1 4. Now look at the board and notice the first blue spot is just one move

away. So wait for the 3, then the 5, and then strike and you should get a roll

of 1. There is only a slight delay as you wait for the die to turn to the

number you want. Use Snatch to roll the die and be sorta close. Just remember

the pattern above and keep using it as you roll.

The idea is to hit the blue spots, and avoid the red. Some of the blue spots

have tons of bouncing orbs, a few will have chests with chances for orbs too.

I have no clue what the red spots do because I missed them all - this game is

that easy. The white spots do nothing and I assume the yellow spots mix up

the colors or something. You can read the three tablets on the walls for

helpful riddles and text.

Here are the numbers you want for a perfect run through with not hitches

whatsoever: 1 2 5 5 1 5 4 4 3. You can visit the divinity statue if you have

orbs to spend and then go through the open door.

Containment Room

Just move forward for a cutscene.

-----

BOSS: Agnus

Difficulty: Nonexistant

The idea is to Snatch the flying swords and then buster them while they are

on the ground to send them at the window. When the swords come spinning at you,

they are incredibly inaccurate, but you can dodge or jump to avoid them. At

times you will see the place shake and an alarm sound. Just wait for about

three seconds and then jump into the air and start blasting with your gun to

stay in the air as the spinning laser swords go away. Just snatch the flying

enemies, launch them with your buster, and shoot to stay in the air to avoid

the laser, it's that simple. I took one hit on my first try, there you go.

After you get one mighty cutscene, and then you learn you have what is called

the Devil Trigger, used with L1 when you have three blue spheres full. Jump

on the spot where you saw the sword to get a secret red orb and go through the

door.

-----

Foris Falls

Sounds familiar, right? Some objects to smash and then hack away at the blue

turn wheel. Then go up the steps and through the door.

*NOTE: Directly in front of the door is a blue orb fragment in the air, but

you need to have Speed and do a long jump off the edge.*

Angel Creation

Go forward for a fight with three White Knights. Kill the first one with the

same old tricks, and then feel free to test out the devil trigger on the next

two. Then go left toward the three glowing yellow guys to find a secret

mission on the wall behind one of them. This one is easy, so do it now.

*****

Secret Mission 04 - Tracking Treasure Down

Go to the doors that you entered this castle from for some orbs. Then go to

the Gyro Blade and spin it away, and the orbs will be where it was. Then jump

up to the second level from here and go to the blue wheel on the right for the

last bit of orbs. Then go to where the blade was for the fragment.

*****

Back in the lab, run up the steps and to the caged area. Just fight two White

Knights and hop down; go right of the ladder to find some hidden orbs. Then

fight a trio and more of White Knights, which you may take a few hits. Feel

free to use your Devil Trigger. Then through the door.

Underground Laboratory

Use the console and then use the jump pads to get up; with barrels on most of

the side platforms if you want them. Then out the way you came.

Grand Hall

Just up the stairs and then take either door on the sides to enter the upper

part of the courtyard. There are some Frosts to fight if you want, but you can

just run past them.

Foris Falls

Just run all the way across the bridge you just set. Cutscene and keep going.

Forest Entrance

Run forward through the noticably bright and lush forest. You run into Dante

and then end level.

==========================

Mission 07 - The She-Viper M07TSVI

==========================

Power Up with Snatch 3 if you can, or a Streak 2, and buy a blue orb if you

can. Red Queen Combo C is nice if you want that too. Consider getting the

charge shot for your gun, just for the upcoming boss, and test it during the

level if you do.

Plants on the side just as you start. Then run to the structure for a secret

mission, but don't do it since you cannot complete it as Nero. Plants on either

side of this dome thing and then move along.

Windswept Valley

Go left and jump along the path to find a Holy Water on a ledge. Then jump

down and fight the enemies, or ignore them. You can just Buster these things to

kill them. Lots of seed pod things around and then go up the steps and through

the door.

Ruined Church

A cutscene and then you meet the flower Scarecrows. You need to avoid their

swinging blades, so either buster them or snatch them; they're real easy to

kill once you do.

After the fight, seed pods in this room and then break the glass to reach

more. There is more glass under the stairs, but you can't go anywhere if you

break it. Go up the stairs and lay into the turn wheel. Then quickly follow

the platforms as they appear all the way to a door.

Ruined Valley

Use your Devil Bringer to swing your way to another wheel and get it going.

Follow the path and then two Mephisto appear. This is pretty tricky. You must

navigate the platforms as they turn red and disappear, and fight the two

demons without falling. Falling means you fight more of the infected scarecrow

in a room down below; you kill them and then jump on the teleport to get back,

and you have to do it each time you fall. Luckily, if you fall the Mephisto

do not reset, so if you kill one and fall you will only have one left to kill.

Just stay watch for the platforms that appear and stay around them, and

abandon red platforms as soon as they turn red. Also, just use snatch a lot to

strip the demons of their cloaks, bring them close to you, and then just buster

them to death. And then follow the path to the door.

Lapis River

Seed pods all around to replenish any health, as well as one big one on a

pillar on the other side of the bridge. When you are on the other side, go

left to find a secret mission on a tree. This one is easy, so do ityou.

*****

Secret Mission 05 - Sky Scraper

It's not terribly easy, just no risk of death. You just use the pads to jump

up and use the Devil Bringer to reach the next ones. For the pad in the cage,

you need to enter from within the cage, and it's a tight squeeze. And from the

cage you need to jump on the platfrom on the wall and then line up with the

blue point for an easy jump to the top. So from the cage you just land on the

platform, no Devil Bringer needed. If done correctly, should have 40 seconds

left.

It's the cage part that needs work most likely.

*****

When ready, move on.

Ancient Plaza

Smash the seed pods in front of you for a white orb, which adds to your Devil

Trigger. Move forward to spawn about six scarecrow and some of those seedlings.

Kill the seed monsters first and then focus on the crows. After the fight,

more pods and then move on.

Windswept Valley

Back here, send the blade into the obstacle. More enemies to tango with or

ignore. Send the blade into the other blockage and use the door.

Ruined Valley

You'll run into some sort of magical flying snake. Just run, ignoring the pods

and you'll reach the end. Go through the door already.

Forgotten Ruins

One of those strange Medusa-like things that you just beat up to get a blue

fragment from. Then a couple of enemies to fight before a statue. Feel free

to buy whatever you want for a boss fight. Go up the steps.

*NOTE: Don't be afraid to buy a gold orb if you aren't that good at this

game.*

Den of the She-Viper

-----

BOSS: Echidna

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

*NOTE: While she's flying, feel free to shoot her, but not sure if it does

damage worth talking about.*

For starters, you need to stay locked-on to her at all times. When she's

flying around, dodge to a side to avoid her sweeping by attack. When she

lands with a purple bump sticking from her bottom, slash at it and then use a

buster on it; also buster the seedling quickly. When she floats around and

reveals her true body, feel free to use your Devil Trigger and shoot the tiny

daggers at her. You can also run up and do splits in her face, but be sure to

land on the ground and roll backward to dodge her spinning hair.

When she lands and plants herself in the ground, run up and start slashing at

her face. Jump in the air and shoot to dodge her tendrils. She will repel you

with a force field, but just run back up to her and keep attacking. When she

goes limp, slash and then use a buster for maximum damage.

This will cause her to turn yellow. Now she is faster and stronger, and her

attacks while in the ground change a bit. When she's not in the ground, just

dodge and attack as usual; three sets of pods around the arena have some

health if you need it, also any stars you may have. When she is in the ground,

go snatch at her and stay above her head as you inflict your damage. And if

she goes limp again, buster her for the kill.

You get the Sephirothic Fruit. Smash any seeds pods and then go touch the

red vines in the corner to take them down. Go through to end the level.

-----

================================

Mission 08 - Profession of Faith M08PROF

================================

Buy whatever you can, if anything.

Some pods and then you will hit a tunnel. Jump from the front of the tunnel

walls and then jump forward to grab the blue fragment on the ceiling. Couple of

plants to buster and then some crows to kill.

Lapis River

Touch the red vines to open the path and then just orbs to collect before you

take the path to the northwest; use the map.

Ancient Plaza

Some new enemies to fight, and all you do to kill them is jump in the air,

snatch them, and then do some aerial combos; that's it, and they use shields

while on the ground.

Then just follow the path all the way back to the church.

Ruined Church

Just kill the enemies with aerial combos and then collect the seed pods in

the small room. Then go under the stairs to move on.

Lost Woods

Notice how the shadows look a little weird here. Red the pillar note in the

middle and then look at your shadow. The idea is to keep your shadow at your

back and then go in that direction. There are only three changes to go through

before you hit the next area.

Forgotten Ruins

You're above the place you've been before. Just run straight to the door.

Ancient Training Ground

A quick fight before you hit a statue. Feel free to spend some dough on a few

vital stars, but don't go broke, unless you suck at this game a whole lot.

Then proceed.

-----

BOSS: Angelo Credo

Difficulty: Moderate

*NOTE: To guarantee an easy win, just bring two Vital Star M's.*

This guy is like a White Knight on roids. The idea is to get behind him, but

that is hard. I like to snatch at his shield, from which he will knock your

attack off and charge at you, then you roll out of the way and try to buster

him, but he will do a slash in the air, so roll away again, and then go buster

him for real. It's a lot of work, but if you master it you won't take many hits

if any. Also, when he's far away, go ahead and shoot him with charged shots if

you can and normal bullets too for small damage.

I just kept this up and never say any of his other attacks while his health was

good. At some point, you can buster him repeatedly for massive damage and then

he will turn aggressive. He will fly around and send attacks at you. Just dodge

his sword sweeps, jump up and down to avoid his swords, and just wait for him

to walk to you from the ground and continue the above strategy. And that's

about it. Vital Stars can be used if he does you a lot of damage.

-----

====================

Mission 09 - For You M09FORY

====================

No use telling you what to buy from here on out, you know what you need and

don't, I hope.

Run forward into a room with some breakable chests on the sides and then

move on. You'll run into two White Knights and an Alto Angelo. You need to

kill the knights first, which is tough but two buster bashings will do it.

Then focus on the tough guy. Don't waste time trying to buster him, just go

full on the offensive. When you see him charging up, do a snatch to go above

his head to avoid. Just lay into him, go Devil Trigger, and once his shield

is gone you can buster him with gusto.

Grand Hall

A familiar name, but a different place. Some benches in the center, a medusa

thing on the left (I've just learned you need to get an S rank on these things

to kill them), and a purple star on the right. Proceed straight and touch the

red thing. Then come back in and notice the open door. You can run immediately

to your right and jump over the rail when the laser is away to quickly get

to the doorway.

Key Chamber

Three White Knights and then an Alto. Again, kill the knights first, but avoid

the lasers, they do hurt. Then just lay into the big guy, using your DT (devil

trigger) to speed it up. Touch the pillar when done to get a key. Then touch

the middle device to slow time and take the opposite doorway.

The Gauntlet

Stand in the center of the little pit for hidden orbs, and then beat up on the

blue wheel in the corner. Then step into the cage.

First fight is with some Scarecrows, nothing too bad at this point in the game,

I hope. When stopped, use the devices to slow time and run past the lasers.

Second fight is with Frosts, so just buster them over and over to guarantee

victory, so long as you toss them at each other. Use the air and snatch them if

you like that better. Then more lasers to run past, so be quick.

Third fight is with what I now know are called Assaults. Just go to the air and

keep snatching them and doing combos, and then buster them on the ground like

the Frosts after you combo them. Shouldn't be too hard. At the top, grab the

green orb and spend some dough at the statue if you want some stars. Bring at

least one Vital Star M, just in case.

*NOTE: You can buy as many Purlpe Orbs as you want to try and get more juice

from your DT gauge also.*

Agnus's Room

-----

BOSS: Angelo Agnus

Difficulty: Moderate

You want to always be shooting at him when far away, but you must alway try

to get close to him. Always attack him, even to a fault, but don't use snatch

too much or you'll take some damage. When he has his Gladius flying about (the

sword things) you want to grab those with your snatch and buster them to send

use them against him. Just keep the pressure on, roll backward and jump when

you see a ring around his back. His ring can send Gladius, the shark things,

fireballs, and will give him blades that will make him spin around before

throwing it at you; all can be avoided by jump backward, usually.

There are three key things to keep your eyes open for. One is when he curls up

and glows; that means you need to run up and start bashing into him before he

unleashes a big attack. Two is when he says "Your strength will be mine!" That

means you need to go into your DT to keep him from sucking some life from you,

even using your star to give you magic power; so save your DT for this and turn

it off after you repel him. Thirdly, when you're attacking him, if you ever

see his aura disappear and each hit seems to stagger him, that is your cue to

go buster him for a big attack.

The Gladius are key early on, and they can end the fight late, but they stop

appearing late. In the later part, you have to save your DT and you have to

keep attacking. I would almost advise using the DT to get in big hits, but it's

too risky late in the fight. When you start causing massive damage and stagger

him, buster to end it.

*NOTE: Cages for health, but they will get smashed during the fight, and he

drops magic orbs when you DT when he tries to steal your health.*

*NOTE: Not sure, but I could have sworn I snatched at him and pulled two

Gladius from him. Again, not sure though.*

-----

=============================

Mission 10 - Wrapped In Glory M10WIGL

=============================

The Gauntlet

You will meet Faust and two Mephisto first. They are really easy, just buster

them over and over and then beat them up. They didn't even attack me they were

so nice.

Then you got to open a door in the next cage. Use the slow time device and run

through the lasers, careful of their paths. Beat up the wheel to open the

blockage and then run back and fall off to hit the bottom. Run back the way

you came, jumping in the pit for the hidden orbs again.

*NOTE: If you call the other cage back down, go to the second level and locate

the orb fragment outside the cage. Go up to the third level and jump off the

open gap to a platform on the second level, and then just jump to the fragment

in the air.*

Key Chamber

Yeah, another fight, but this time the time device is in play. Use it to do

two busters in a row on each White Knight, trying to avoid the cagey Alto.

Then slow down time and start beating him up. When he's on the ground, just

keep bustering him over and over to kill him. Then use the device to run past

the lasers.

Grand Hall

You can beat up that thing again for orbs if you want. The benches are in place

and you'll have to jump over the lasers if you want them. Then just run across

the new bridge.

Security Corridor

Slash the benches and then buster the device. Less is more. You need to do

small, tiny jumps to get through these lasers. Just take your time, slightly

nudge as you jump, and try to get to the other side in one piece. It will stay

in slow motion until you get to the other side. When you do, smash the fence

for health and then go right for a secret mission, but only if you feel like

one where you risk death. But it's hella easy.

*****

Secret Mission 06 - Vermifuge

Start by bustering the Scarecrow, but hold it down to hold him. Then jump

backwards and up the ledges and take him as far away as you can up on top of

the cliff. Then let him go and quickly run back to the Chimera. Jump, snatch,

buster, and repeat, but sorta in the middle of the area. Hopefully you do it

before the crow falls back down, and if he does, just try to finish off the

little dudes with busters because you will kill him if you pick him up again.

*NOTE: It's way easy if you have the air hike, so consider holding off until

you do.*

*****

When back, jump down to the bottom of the spinning blade room and you will

fight the Faust and Mephisto again. After bustering them alot, go touch the

red pillar to slow time. Now use the blades as platforms to get up top, but

you are looking for a door opposite the way you came in. You have two tries at

it before the slow mo time expires, then just try again.

Experiment Disposal

Fight four White Knights, which you can buster in the air if you didn't know.

Then smash an orb rock on the right. Cross the cage and beat up the statues.

Use the lift and you will see a blue orb fragment along the rings that hold the

lift, but I think you need air hike to get it. At the top, smash some stuff

and use the door.

Meeting Room

Fight two Altos, but streaking seems to be effective (no, the attack where you

dash forward, stripping naked and running around your room in an unproven

method of victory). Then just beat up on one until his shield breaks, then

buster over and over, and then do the other. Be careful to dodge attacks by

jumping in the air, and a streak seems to dodge some attacks for you.

Then smash some candlesticks in the hall. You have a secret mission on the

left, and a statue on the right. Ignore the secret mission and stock up for

the upcoming boss. Buy purple orbs if you can and some vital stars with

whatever may be left, or don't buy vital stars. Then through the door.

*****

Secret Mission 07 - Free Running

It's the same tile sequence from earlier, just with one extra Mephisto and

some tiles will take forever to appear. Your best bet is to wait for Air Hike,

or try it actually fight. As Nero you will need to buster them, but you only

have time on the small tiles with little room. But with Air Hike, you can jump

over and over on the small tiles to avoid attacks. The hardest thing is seeing

through their cloaks and knowing where to jump.

*NOTE: Come back when you can fly that one machine and just cheat through

this with Dante even.*

*****

*NOTE: Two Vital Star S's are all you need. Anything more is just expensive

insurance.*

Ascension Chamber

-----

BOSS: Dante Round Two

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

A cool trick that is guaranteed to work early on is to shoot with him and walk

up close and when right in his face do a buster. It doesn't work later, but

that's all I did in the early part. Once he starts becoming more aggressive,

try using busters on him while in DT. That's about it, it's all in the buster.

If he combos on you, go DT and buster also to break free.

There are some candles and jars on the sides if you need health too. Always

keep firing at him. It seems like you two are cancelling each other out, but

it appears that you are damaging him; although he may be damaging you. You

need to dodge his slashes if you can when up close, but it's hard to tell when

he will slash. If you want to, you can shoot, get close, and then either

streak into him or try to do a snatch and buster. Splits also have a high

hit rate, but not guaranteed. It's just a cagey fight with no set rules. The

key is to shoot and get close and then do something.

-----

=============================

Mission 11 - The Ninth Circle M11TNCI

=============================

Not sure if you realized or heard, but you can go back and play previous levels

to get more orbs. Just don't waste items when replaying, but you shouldn't have

to. Mission 3 and 5 are easy ones, and from there you can just take on which

bosses you feel safest against. But it's up to you. Either way, I will not

advise any skills or items to buy from here on out.

Advent Chamber

Go to the left and smack the wheel to make the blue points appear; there is

blue medusa thing in the back, but it requires an SSS rank to bust it, so beat

it up and then DT buster it, and if that doesn't work you will have to move on

and come back later. Come back when you have more moves, or unleash all your

combos now.

On the second level you fight some Mephisto and a Faust. Then touch the device

to call the lift to take you up.

On the third level just go right and through gate for two enemies. Step on an

empty lift for hidden orbs and feel free to use the statue. For the blue

points you must jump toward the first one, snatch it, snatch the next, and when

you hit the wall you need to jump again to get over. At the next set of blue

points, there is a devil star S in the pit, but you have to fight three White

Knights for it, which should be easy. As for the jump, you wait for the second

one to be up, then you jump, wait for the third to get up, and then arrive

on the other side.

Over the wall will be a lone Alto. Then go right for a green orb. Beat up the

blue wheel and then get up to the fourth level, or what we will call the fourth

level. Touch the machine for a fight with knights and an Alto (FYI, I just

streaked into the Alto the whole time until his shield broke). A green and

white orb by the railing and then make your way back left to the lift. When you

get there, there is another teleport pad that can take you to the start, but

no reason to use it. Ignore the scarecrows and go up.

On what we will call the fifth level, a cutscene before the boss fight, which

was sooner than you or I thought.

-----

BOSS: Sanctus / Savior

Difficulty: Moderate

This fight is about one thing: pressure. Always stay close to him and do as

many combos close as you can. It's a matter of beating the shield off of him

so that you can buster his face. You need to jump and snatch at his two little

gizmos flying in the air, but only use them to get close to him. While in the

air, just to normal combos or whatever to inflict damage and stay close. He

has a fireball, electric, and a big attack, but don't concern yourself with

the first two.

When you do beat the shield off of him, go do some about three or four hits,

maybe a streak, then go DT, then buster him, and keep tapping the buster button

to do more damage until you throw him away. Then undo your DT to save it. Then

he will do his big explosion attack, so stay away. After that, keep up the

pressure. When he is flying away from you if you get close, try to corner him

or let him do an attack so you can get close. If you're finding it hard to

finish him off before he regenerates his shield, feel free to go DT to break

his rings and then buster him before you lose your DT.

Once he is left with about a fourth of his health, he will use the Savior to

pound the ground. Just run and right before it strikes, do a dodge. Then you

only have a limited amount of time to attack Sanctus. Just break his shield

and then try to chase him into a corner, then go DT, break his rings, and then

buster for the win. Then watch Nero flip the bird at Dante.

-----

============================

Mission 12 - A New Beginning M12ANEB

============================

Yes, you are now Dante, for better or worse. Cry now that you've lost the use

of the Devil Bringer so you can get that out of the way. The games changes,

well, at least in how you fight. You're just going to be backtracking with

Dante, so the settings are exactly the same.

First, after all the epic cutscenes, go power up. You are given all the Proud

Souls back to use on Dante, but it's not that many. First, grab the Trigger

Heart, then Air Hike, then Speed, then both levels of Stinger for your sword,

and then power up your Styles. I say go with Swordmaster and maybe Gunslinger,

but the choice is dependent on how you play. And remember, you can always

refund your Proud Souls to change things up.

Ascension Chamber

Just a fight with some Scarecrows, but probably harder than usual. Just go

into Swordmaster on the d-pad and try to do aerial combos, or stinger enemies

away from the group. You can test out all four skills which do something

different with what was the Devil Bringer button (makes me cry just thinking

about it). Smash the objects and take the northern door into the Meeting Room.

Meeting Room

Statue and secret mission. The secret mission is good to go here too, just use

the air hike with Dante to keep hopping up and down. But you can wait for the

flying machine and come back as Dante.

In the table area you meet bigger Scarecrow. Now is a good time to master the

Million Stab combo (pause menu and check the skill list). They aren't too bad,

just avoid the falling blade after you kill them. Also, if you didn't realize,

you can only combo in the air while in Swordmaster and pressing O.

Experiment Disposal

Smash the fence for health and take the lift down. If you have the air hike,

go get that orb fragment on the upper ring. Then you learn that you have just

ten minutes to escape. Drop down into the pit and go grab the gold orb in the

corner. Turn the wheel to lower a cage and get in. The Frosts now become

actual threats without the Devil Bringer. Just Stinger, uppercut, slash down,

and whatever; you can even stinger over and over if you feel like it. At the

top, go north and smash an orb rock before moving on.

Security Corridor

Switch to the shotgun and blast the cloaks off the Mephisto, then stinger them

to death or whatever. After, go touch the device to learn that you only need

to jump up the blades this time as you break the motor. Jump up the blades, air

hike helps, and smash the fence. Use the device to slow time and then jump back

through the lasers. Some smaller jumps mixed in with longer jumps than last

time, but again, air hike does wonders for the long jumps.

Grand Hall

Almost home. In the main room, fight with a bunch of White Knights and an Alto.

Get behind the Knights and then stinger them and combo from the back; use the

trickster evade to avoid damage, and don't forget you have a shotgun. When the

Alto appears, I believe you can kill him to make the others go away, so focus

on him. After the fight, feel free to smash the benches and leave. But there

is a blue orb fragment you can get if you have the time.

If you have a minute or two, you can go up into the Key Chamber. Just use the

device in the center of the room to get out of there and up to The Gauntlet.

Go around and start bashing the red thing to a B rank for the fragment and

orbs; also step in the middle of the pit for those hidden orbs. Then run all

the way back to the Grand Hall and out.

Gran Album Bridge

Just some things to smash in the room and then run all the way back.

==============================

Mission 13 - The Devil Returns M13TDER

==============================

Ugh, you can tell the boss of this level will be most not good at all. Buy the

first Trickster upgrade, if you want.

Ancient Training Ground

Just run straight to the doors.

Forgotten Ruins

Go forward and then jump off the platform on the side to get to the area below;

trust me, the paths can be confusing if you don't know where to go. You can

fight the enemies or just run into the purple mist you see.

Windswept Valley

You meet new enemies, Assaults with Chimera in them. The shotgun helps you keep

your distance, but just be aggressive otherwise. You'll take some hits from

the blades on them, but nothing to worry about. Then go straight up the steps

and through the fog.

Ancient Plaza

Turn around and fight the normal Assaults, using the ground-based Swordmaster

attack to break their shielding. Smash some seed pods and take the un-misted

exit to the river.

Lapis River

You can fight, or just run under the bridge - you're call. In the valley, just

enter the church.

Ruined Church

Go beat up that red thing to an A rank for the orb fragment. Then smash all

the seed pods and go under the stairs.

Lost Woods

Fight two infected Assaults and then the old puzzle. Just go: north, south,

east, and east. Remember, shadow at your back.

Forgotten Ruins

Grab a few vital stars if you are unsure of how Dante will do against the

beast. Then up the steps.

Den of the She-Viper

-----

BOSS: Echidna Round Two

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

Same rules as before, just no buster attack. To make up for it, Dante's sword

seems a bit stronger. Remember to shoot when she is away, dodge her attacks,

and there are some pods on the sides. Just be aggressive. Double jump at all

times while attacking to avoid her tail swipe, and I say just take her swinging

hair attack, or attack from the side to try to avoid it. Whatever you do, stay

in the air to dodge her tail. And I hope you know it's a given, but you have

to be in Swordmaster to do combos in the air, otherwise you'll just slash to

the ground.

Once she is yellow, keep jumping to avoid her seeds and tail, keep shooting

when away, and just go for the kill. Three seed pods on the sides if you need

them.

-----

You earn Gilgamesh after the fight. This armor is cool because you can charge

each hit in the combo for different results, and it looks cool. Take the open

path in the corner.

===========================

Mission 14 - Forest of Ruin M14FOFR

===========================

Buy Kick 13 for your new armor, at the least.

Ancient Training Ground

Proceed down the path to run into a new enemy, the Faults. Just run and don't

stop for nothing, not even believing. Then you have to fight some enemies, but

the Faults seem to only attack once. Kill the Chimera and the other and then

get out.

*NOTE: If you do get caught by a Fault, maybe not here but later, you are

taken to that pit from the tile sequence. This is where the Kick 13 for the

armor will clean away the enemies quickly.*

*NOTE: Also, when the Faults come up to get you, you can attack them for

health orbs.*

Lapis River

The Faults are here, so just move forward to trigger the fight, which I guess

scares them away or something. Or maybe they just don't go on the bridge. In

any case, get to the bridge with you shotgun in hand and start blasting the

Mephisto and kill them with your fancy melee attacks; ditto for the Faust.

After, check the map to see that you need to take the northern exit for the

correct path.

Ancient Plaza

A fight with normal and infected Assaults with some Faults thrown in. If you

want to avoid the Faults, get on the wooden steps in the center as they do

not go there. If you don't fear the Faults, be sure to have your sword armed

so you aren't stuck in the combos of your armor. Beat up on the Assaults and

when you see the blue, just jump in the air and over, then slash as the Faults

for free health. Kill the enemies and move on.

Windswept Valley

Go forward for a big and confusing fight. It's hard because of the targetting,

which can and will target enemies far away from you. Just go on the aggressive

and watch for the double Faults, so jumping in the air will be a habit. There

is a spot by the rock in between the two narrow paths that the Faults don't

seem to go on, mayb because of the leaves or twigs on the ground there. Just

go all out and after the fight you can punch on the Faults to recover health.

Jump up the cliff and out of this area.

Forest Entrance

Almost out of the dreaded forest. An orb rock, seed pods all around, and that

secret mission. There is also a Vital Star M in a tiny hole at the top of the

log, which you must be in and jump up to get (wonder if it was there the

first time?). If you can Royal Block with Dante, which I haven't even mentioned

once, then do the mission here. Otherwise, move on.

*****

Secret Mission 08 - Royal Blocker

The trick is to kill one and then go into Royal Guard mode. I had success

blocking the slashing attack, but you have to block attacks successfully in a

row, so get to know how to block the pointing finger attack, which is hard.

Good luck, and if you ever want to whimp out, just kill the last one to go

back to real life.

*****

Foris Falls

Just cross the bridge to end it.

===========================

Mission 15 - Fortuna Castle M15FORT

===========================

If you don't have it now, I REQUIRE THAT YOU HAVE THE AIR HIKE!

Foris Falls

Go to the left and beat up on the red guy, which requires an SS rank. So combo

normal hits with Swordmaster hits to hit the end, and don't forget to switch to

your armor for different attacks. Then through the door.

Central Courtyard

You'll run into a Blitz. The are pretty much just electric Mephisto, and maybe

this guy moves a bit quicker. Equip your shotgun and just do air hikes and

shoot three rounds off. Just keep jumping and shooting and moving over and

over. Eventually you will knock off his electric coating and that is your

cue to go attack with all you got. Then he will have red sparks all over him,

but I was able to keep jumping and blasting until he died. Proceed onward.

Grand Hall

Just take the door on the right, the one that leads to the Gallery. Just stuff

to destroy in the Gallery and then to the Library

Library

Last chance to get that trickster upgrade, at least one. There will be an Alto

and his White Knights to greet you. Beat up on him with stinger since he seems

the easier target when Dante, and then use trickster moves to get behind and

avoid the Knights' attacks. Plenty of health in the jars around the room. A

door will open that leads to an orb rock, so beat that up. Drop down the

steps, but notice the secret mission under the stairs. This is a tough one,

like the hardest one in the game. I would advise you to save it for later, and

you should save it until you beat the game, or at least get the missiles.

*****

Secret Mission 09 - Unbreakable

Just kill everyone without taking a single hit, easy. Kill the Chimera first

using stinger, then stinger the rest, or shotgun infected enemies. For the

second wave, use your long range attacks, like the missiles and the shotgun.

Good luck.

*****

Large Hall

Just smash some candles and go through the door on the right.

Dining Room

Just run to the table and then fight some Scarecrow and Mega Scarecrows.

Sword works best on the normal ones, and the armor works well on the big guys.

Smash the stuff and through the door.

Large Hall

Candlesticks, green orb but save it for later unless you really need it, and

a statue on this side. Then to the fun chamber.

Torture Chamber

The Swordmaster spinning attack works well on Frosts, so does the armor. It's

tough, but stingering an enemy away from the pack is a good move. When done,

jump into the pit.

Spiral Well

Grab the green orb on the side and then lay into the blue wheel. It makes a

big jumping pad, so use it.

Back in the chamber, cross over the bridge.

Master's Chambers

Scarecrows to greet you, so keep up the good work. But then another Blitz will

drop in. Ignore the crows, or stinger them, but he will come for you. Just

start blasting him with the shotgun and he will actually kill the other

enemies for you. Just blast, attack when he's open, and then blast to victory

once he's red.

Soldier's Graveyard

There is that secret mission under the bridge, but I still don't think you

can do it, so skip it. Just smash all the stuff, jump on the two boxes on the

wall for hidden orbs, and then grab anything at the statue. Through the door

for another boss.

Central Courtyard

-----

BOSS: Dagon

Difficulty: Easy

This is bascially Bael Round Two. The rules for this fight are the same as

the last. Go hard at his sides, attack the throat, and Devil Trigger when

going at his tongue. You can DT and then use the spinning SM (swordmaster)

attack on him for massive damage. And the trick is to close distance between

you and him with some stingers.

Then fight the fairy lures. Just go hard after one with a bunch of stingers

and he will show back up; press buttons like crazy if he swallows you. Then

you can attack a bit, go DT, spin your sword on his tongue, and that should be

it. It's a much easier fight with Dante.

Then you will get Pandora's Box after a glorious cutscene. PF013 Epidemic makes

it a bowgun while on the ground. Notice the Disaster Gauge between your

two bars of health. Nothing to do but fall down.

-----

====================

Mission 16 - Inferno M16INFE

====================

You have PF124: Hatred and PF398: Revenge for purchase for your new gun.

Underground Laboratory

Yep, you're basically on a timer, which is your life bar. As soon as you start,

go to your right and beat up on the red guy. Alternate between sword and armor,

maybe throw in a DT, and get your style up to S for the fragment. Then grab

the green orbs and take the door.

R&D Access

Just three Cutlass, but not only do they drop green orbs, there are many green

orbs by the walls. For the fish swords, just use your handguns to stall them

and stinger them to death once they are up. Grab green orbs on your way out.

Game Room

Thankfully, no dice game under pressure. There are tons of Gladius to fight,

but no reason to unless you want health; shotgun them and then stinger while

they are on the ground if you need some green orbs. But the door is open, so

take it.

Containment Room

Just focus on the White Knights, using the Trickster dodge to get behind them

and then stingering them to death, and maybe you'll hit some of the swords in

the process. Then have your shotgun in hand and start blasting, or the Pandora,

and then stinger the swords while they are in the ground. Then jump up, stand

in the beam of light for hidden orbs, and then out.

Foris Falls

Just barrels to smash and that blue orb is still there, but I have no clue

how to get it. You can run off the edge and then try to double jump, but the

camera switch and I think it's too far away. Maybe you need something else. So

just take the door out.

Angel Creation

Just some Knights on this side, and the other. The first group is easy, and

feel free to use the armor along with trickster. The second group has two Altos

with them, so kill them first; beating up on them with the armor works really

well. Don't forget the hidden orbs by the ladder and then out.

Underground Laboratory

Barrels on the side as you go up, if you want them. Just jump up and go out.

Grand Hall

Just some benches and chairs to smash, then exit the castle.

Fortuna Castle Gate

Go to the open where you run into some dog demons, the Basilisks. When far

away, use your Pandora to blast them, but you need to get up close and start

slicing and dicing. Plenty of little rock pillars that you can smash for health

if you need it. Then go up the rock stairs on the right to get up the mountain.

At the top you can fight the dogs, or just run to the exit, your call.

Second Mining Area

Just get all the way back to the orb rock behind the boards and beat it up.

Then go visit the divinity statue and grab some vital stars if you think you

can't handle Berial again. There are no green orbs from houses this time, so

take that into consideration.

-----

BOSS: Berial Round Two

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

"What the..." again, good writing for this guy. The same rules apply, but you

exchange the Devil Bringer with the Air Hike. Just jump up to his head while in

Swordmaster and do combos over and over. When his fires to out, go DT and

unload into him. Again, keep double jumping to avoid most of his attacks and

keep slashing at him. Just two DT barrages on him and you get a very nice

cutscene.

-----

You have the Lucifer now. Grab the orbs, test out the new armor if you want,

and then out the door.

===============================

Mission 17 - Adagia For Strings M17ADFS

===============================

I would advise getting the attack for your new armor, if you want, or the

other one for the Pandora if you don't already have it.

First Minning Area

Just off the edge, grab the orbs in the water, and continue.

Port Caerula

You will fight some Scarecrow and then some Knights and an Alto. Now is a good

time to test your Lucifer, but the way to attack with it is pretty crazy.

Now that you can attack in different ways by pressing the analog stick in all

directions and it has some cool combos. If at any time you want to ignite the

swords, pull back as you attack and are locked-on and all will explode. If you

do use this suit the whole battle, expect some damage as the swords don't have

much stopping power, or blow them up a lot. Feel free to use the Gilgamesh or

sword if those are better for you (don't forget to exchange the proud souls if

you do or don't like one weapon).

Residential District

Just some Assaults and Mephisto. The tight quarters to fight here make this a

deadly battle, one that I used the sword on. Just kill the Assaults and then

shotgun the cloaked guys, remember that your twirling sword attack works well.

Then smash the orb rock and continue.

Business District / Terrace

Now you are on the ground. Lots of Scarecrows, two Megas, and a gang of

Basilisks. I used swordmaster attack on the scarecrows and double jumped a lot

to avoid their attacks. Then I just stingered the Megas into a wall and started

comboing away. And I used the shotgun on the dogs, seemed to work better. After

the fight, there is a blue orb fragment above the sign for the Restaurant Cafe.

Get on the very left side of the green shade thing, double jump to the left of

the pointy spike on the rail, and then shoot with your handguns to push

yourself over. Then straight down the road.

Opera House Plaza

On the right, by a gate, smash the trashcan for a secret mission. But I advise

saving this for another day.

*****

Secret Mission 12 - Steeplechase

Get to the other side without taking a hit and without slowing time, great.

The trick is to have that Disaster Gauge up to full, be in gunslinger, and use

the Pandora's Argument move (check move list).

*****

Another trashcan nearby has some health. You can enter the storehouse, but I

just got the two barrels and went back out. Enter the fountain area for a fight

with Mephisto, Knights, Alto, and Faust. Remember, shotgun the cloaks off of

the ghost guys. Then go around a path to a statue and feel free to stock up,

grab a few vital stars for insurance, and then enter.

Opera House

-----

BOSS: Angelo Agnus Round Two

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

Gosh, just when the last cutscene was brilliant, they go and do a Peter Parker

from Spiderman 3 AND a Jackie Chan from Rush Hour 3 - in a word, lame.

Anyway, save your DT for when he tries to suck out your life, and just stay

in Swordmaster to do aerial combos. It's hard to target him with the Basilisks,

but just ignore the pups and lay into him with all you got. Remember to go

slash him quickly when he curls up and starts to glow, otherwise you'll take a

nasty attack. And when his health is down to about a fourth or less, go ahead

and go DT and just finish him off. Also, if you ever beat him into the ground,

go ahead and go DT for some deadly hits.

-----

After the fight, grab the orbs and take the lift.

==========================

Mission 18 - The Destroyer M18TDES

==========================

While powering up, be sure to refund the proud souls for the Lucifer if you

didn't like how it handles. Also, get ready for a long boss battle, which is

all the next level is.

Sky Above Fortuna

You now have the Yamato, and to select Dark Slayer style, press your current

style again.

-----

BOSS: Savior

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

Phase 1

Use the blue pad in front of you to drop to the next platform. On here, the

Savior slapped the ground and you can jump on if you aren't already on, and

run up his hand, avoiding his attacks, and attack the two blue spots. Stinger

the blue spots to quickly take them out.

*NOTE: There are two electric guns, and I'm not totally sure of the paths to

either, but run around enough and you'll find them.*

He will knock you off once you hit both. You should be on a platform with two

pads on both sides. Take the left one and then the next pad, then use a red

pad to get to a gun. Turn the wheel quickly to stun the boss's hand and you can

then jump on to smash the next two blue spots.

Now he should be motionless. Ignore all the other enemies and start making a

very long journey from jump pad to jump pad. There are two blue spots on his

legs and one on his back. The jump pads seem to help you out as they all take

you around. You have a long time to hit all three, so just run and jump.

Eventually he will recover and the jump pads will reset. Now make your way to

another electric gun and blast the Savior again to get on the hand. Now run

up and target the head to start shooting the spot up top.

*NOTE: Make sure you blow off the blue spots completely or else you'll be

in this phase of the fight for a while. If he doesn't go into shooting from his

ring, then you need to use a gun again to knock him out and try to blast the

spots you didn't finish off completely.*

Phase 2

He will use a laser attack from his ring, so just start using the jump pads

to run from it. Stop for nothing and you'll soon hit a divinity statue.

Depending on your health and status, consider buying some stars. Then take

the jump pad to hit the real fight.

Just keep running and jumping along the platforms. Stop at each one and be

close to a jump pad to see what he does. If he does anything but go below your

platform, be ready to use the pad to avoid the attack. Especially run from the

laser when that gets ready. When you have an open shot and he's not attacking,

use your handguns to blast at his chest spot.

The key is when you are at a tiny platform and he goes under it. You'll see

him slowly rise. That is your cue to run up to the edge and start doing

whatever massive attacks you can, possibly stingers in DT. That should cause

a cutscene where he goes limp and you have a lone jump pad. Take it to arrive

square at his chest spot and start hammering away with whatever.

It's just run until you can get some slashes in, and then hack away when he's

motionless. Try to avoid all his attacks and you may yet survive this fight.

Should just take two trips to his chest to win it.

-----

==========================

Mission 19 - The Successor M19THSU

==========================

As Nero and in the power up screen, buy Trigger Heart, Snatch 3 if you don't

have it, and either Showdown or Maximum Bet for the Yamato. Remember to refund

things like the Charged Shots if you never used them and whatever else. Also

get air hike if you don't have it for him.

As Nero, consider redoing previous missions just to get more orbs or to get

back into the Nero mode of thinking. If you realize you have the buster back

and you're fine with that, go on.

Either way, prepare to face four bosses. A few vital stars for the toad are

all you should need, and maybe one gold orb for insurance.

Within Savior

Just run forward and through the white light.

Board 1

You emerge in a room with some steps and that old dice game is back. Remember

the pattern: 2 6 3 5 1 4 . You're going right on this board, so you want to

hit 2; remember, you wait for 1, let 4 pass, and then hit as soon as 4 goes

away. You'll get bouncing orbs at the blue spots. Landing on the purple or

yellow will take you right to the boss fight, but you have to do it no matter

what.

-----

Boss Fight 1: White Knights

Just four White Knights and their leader. You can target the leader first, but

it's harder with Nero attacking that shield. Just go DT and start attacking,

and follow that up with some busters on the White Knights. It's just the same

old fight as before, just with more knights than usual. Remember, buster away

once the shields are gone.

-----

Board 2

Green orb and white orb up in the corners. The piece is going right again, so

keep that in mind. Pattern again: 2 6 3 5 1 4 . Go 1, 1, and then 3 or 4 to

get to the next fight.

-----

Boss Fight 2: Berial

Yep, him for a third time. Just use Snatch to get up to his head and then

combo away. When the flames go away, go DT and beat him up, and then buster his

limp body, or buster when the flames go away. Shouldn't be too bad for the

third time. Gather the orbs and step on the blue pad when done.

-----

Board 3

Two green orbs up top, so grab them. Here's the pattern: 2 6 3 5 1 4 and if you

need help getting through this still, I'm sorry. It's 3, 2, and 2 or keep

going.

-----

Boss Fight 3: Dagon (Bael?)

Him again, and he should be easier now that you know to attack from his

side. Feel free to go DT and just hack away at his throat. And always buster if

you knock him out. The hardest part is when he uses the lure women because they

are more aggressive than they were. Just beat them up and try to avoid when

they freeze you. If you are frozen or stuck in his mouth, just mash the buttons

and go whatever to try and break free.

-----

Board 4

Green and white orb in the corners. Here's the pattern: 2 6 3 5 1 4. It's

just three 3's in a row to the next fight, or keep going.

-----

Boss Fight 4: Echidna

Remember, snatch to her face and combo away, shoot while she's away, buster the

purple spot, beat her up when she's in the ground, and DT then buster when

she's limp. It's that easy. Then feel free to go DT when her life is low and

she's in the ground again. Collect the seed pods and the orbs before leaving.

-----

Board 5

More green orbs in you need them in the corners. Again, the pattern one last

time: 2 6 3 5 1 4. Go 3, 5, and 3 to get the final boss.

-----

Boss Fight 5: Angelo Agnus

Yeah, would've preferred anything to this guy. At least it's the earlier

form. You know the drill: snatch to face, smash face, use Gladius against him,

and DT buster when he's limp. Save your DT for when he goes to grab you. And

I've confirmed, at times you can snatch swords off of him, so buster them if

you do. Feel free to DT when he's almost dead, and don't forget the cages for

health.

-----

When in the board game room, smash the four pillars, buster the rock wall, and

you're done. Now save before the freaking power blinks out! (trust me, saving

your game this time will take forever now that I told you that)

==========================

Mission 20 - La Vita Nvova M20LVIN

==========================

Before the fight, consider going back and doing previous missions if you aren't

sure about round two with Sanctus. Buy whatever, and be ready for one last

boss fight.

-----

BOSS: Sanctus Diabolica

Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

You will pretty much always snatch your way up to him. First combo away his

shield. When that is gone, wait for him to do an attack, jump in the air,

snatch to him again, and try to attack. He may block, or maybe not. Just keep

this up until you make him to limp, DT, slash a bit, and then buster him for a

big attack.

After the first buster, he will start to teleport after you bust his shield,

so that means jump in the air to avoid his slash. It's always best to avoid

his fireballs, which you'll know are coming when flames are around him. But

just remember, let him do an attack and then go slash him. If he's blocking

you with his sword, snatch and attack again.

At about the halfway point of his health, after you tear off his shield, he

will start to teleport to the ground more and do a two-strike combo. This is

a good time to jump slightly away and then follow up with a streak and then

keep attacking.

Once his health is to the death point, you are now in the realm of rolling the

dice. Now if you break his shield, he will go into a sweeping slash attack with

the sword. When he is glowing red and winding up, go DT and be ready to hit the

buster button. As soon as he charges at you, either the first time or in one of

the consecutive sweeps, immediately buster his attack to end the fight. If

you're not in DT, the fight may not end in one blow. Be sure to go DT and just

be quick to buster. If you can do this, you will be pretty good at royal

blocking.

-----

And then, one last thing to do.

-----

BOSS: False Savior

Difficulty: Easy to Hard (either can or can't)

You must jump away and buster his right hand, left from you, and then jump to

buster his left hand before it swipes.

Don't worry, if you die, you get to start from right here again.

-----

Now you have beaten the game. Just sit back and watch.

Oh yeah, defend Kyrie from any hits to get something extra after the credits.

You just have to keep the fight away from her and quickly kill them. Remember,

you can just snatch to keep them away.

*NOTE: The video is on YouTube if you want to save yourself the time.*

*****************************************************************************

* 5. Enemies / Bosses ( BOSS555 ) *

*****************************************************************************

=======

Enemies

=======

Scarecrow

---------

Just the basic enemy, that actually comes in the Arm and Leg types, but there

is little difference. They are slow and don't do much damage, but if you give

them time and let them gang up on you, they're trouble. Just jump and snatch

them to start slashing.

Frost

-----

They will block most of your attacks, so snatch them and buster them, then

do your combos.

Bianco Angelo (White Knight)

-------------

Not a big deal, just snatch to get behind them, or just go behind them, and

then buster and/or attack. You can buster them for a brutal attack.

Mephisto

--------

Buster off their cloaks as Nero, shotgun blast as Dante. When on the ground,

you have a limited amount of time to finish them off before they regain their

cloaks.

Cutlass

-------

Target with your gun and blast until they are out of the ground, then streak

or stinger to death.

Gladius

-------

Either snatch or let them run into the ground, then buster them and/or attack

to kill.

Alto Angelo

-----------

These lead the White Knights, and they will cause battle formations and

strong attacks. When a group powers up for a big blast, you can buster it for

a massive attack. Other than that, either kill these guys first or just start

picking off the normal knights to disrupt the formations. When attacking

Altos, just beat up on their shields, then buster once it's gone.

Faust

-----

Just the leader of the Mephisto, and takes the same approach to take off his

cloak, just requires more bustering or more shotgun shells. His attacks can

be quite deadly, so avoid when you see him ready to strike.

Chimera

-------

Just the seedlings that can infect other enemies. You can buster for an instant

kill. Target first so that they don't make other enemies stronger.

Assault

-------

Just fast enemies with shields, but you can just snatch and buster, or use the

Swordmaster button while Dante to break their block.

Fault

-----

These are demons that travel in the ground and will pull you down into a room

where you must fight more enemies. Avoid when you see blue below you, and then

slash at them for health orbs.

Mega Scarecrow

--------------

Give them time and they will do strong attacks. If you can, just charge into

them and combo them on the ground, not letting them up. Watch out for the

blade that falls from the ground when the die.

Blitz

-----

A lightning enemy that you only face a few times. Just attack with the shotgun

and with long ranged attack until their electricity goes away, then attack.

As Nero, go DT and buster.

Basilisk

--------

Just dog enemies that can fire, well, fire at you. You can go long range with

the Pandora, or use the shotgun up close. Other than that, just run up and

slash away.

======

Bosses

======

After and in the rank screen, you get a proud soul. These are used before you

enter a mission, or at a statue to gain skills. You can even unlearn the skills

to learn others.

Jump

on the spot where you saw the sword to get a secret red orb and go through the

door.

Three seed pods on the sides if you need

them.

Just two DT barrages on him and you get a very nice

cutscene.

If you can do this, you will be pretty good at royal

blocking.

BOSS: False Savior

Difficulty: Easy to Hard

You must jump away and buster his right hand, left from you, and then jump to

buster his left hand before it swipes.

Don't worry, if you die, you get to start from right here again.

* 6. Secret Missions / Blue Orbs / Game Modes ( EXTRA66 ) *

*****************************************************************************

===============

Secret Missions

===============

Here are all the secret missions, where to find them, and how to beat them.

*NOTE: That most are here and not in the walkthrough, but that's by design.

I wanted the walkthrough to be as streamlined as possible, only taking on the

secret missions that are easy. But here are all of them.*

*****

Secret Mission 01 - Annihilation

Found: Business District / Terrace, Mission 02

It's a bit harder than you think. The idea is to kill all the enemies before

time expires. Just keep your lock-on on the nearby enemy and use your Hell

Bound to reach for them. Follow up with a High Roller and a split. Do this

for all the enemies and you should be done with about five seconds to spare, or

just try again. (the Hell Bound move when used on enemies is called Snatch)

You are rewarded with a Blue Orb Fragment.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 02 - Alley-Oop

Found: Dining Room, Mission 04

It's easier than you think. Just go into the center, jump, at the highest point

in your jump lock-on and use the devil bringer, then unlock and use the normal

buster, then immediately after you toss him lock-on and devil bring again, and

just repeat until you do it five times. You risk little if you stay in the

air, and if you mess up and just keep trying, dead enemies will drop green

orbs. If you do it right, just grab the fragment and you're done.

But remember, there is a difference between using your devil bringer while

locked-on and not. When not, that is your buster.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 03 - Nonviolent Resistance

Found: Soldier's Graveyard, Mission 05 or 15

The object is to raise the stylish rank without causing damage to anyone. You

should wait for after you defeat Credo. Then do this mission as Nero. You need

to hold the Frost, jump around, taunt, and repeat until you get a C rank.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 04 - Tracking Treasure Down

Found: Angel Creation, Mission 06

Go to the doors that you entered this castle from for some orbs. Then go to

the Gyro Blade and spin it away, and the orbs will be where it was. Then jump

up to the second level from here and go to the blue wheel on the right for the

last bit of orbs. Then go to where the blade was for the fragment.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 05 - Sky Scraper

Found: Lapis River, Mission 07

It's not terribly easy, just no risk of death. You just use the pads to jump

up and use the Devil Bringer to reach the next ones. For the pad in the cage,

you need to enter from within the cage, and it's a tight squeeze. And from the

cage you need to jump on the platfrom on the wall and then line up with the

blue point for an easy jump to the top. So from the cage you just land on the

platform, no Devil Bringer needed. If done correctly, should have 40 seconds

left.

It's the cage part that needs work most likely.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 06 - Vermifuge

Found: Security Corridor, Mission 10 or 12

Start by bustering the Scarecrow, but hold it down to hold him. Then jump

backwards and up the ledges and take him as far away as you can up on top of

the cliff. Then let him go and quickly run back to the Chimera. Jump, snatch,

buster, and repeat, but sorta in the middle of the area. Hopefully you do it

before the crow falls back down, and if he does, just try to finish off the

little dudes with busters because you will kill him if you pick him up again.

*NOTE: It's way easy if you have the air hike, so consider holding off until

you do.*

*****

*****

Secret Mission 07 - Free Running

Found: Meeting Room, Mission 10 or 12

It's the same tile sequence from earlier, just with one extra Mephisto and

some tiles will take forever to appear. Your best bet is to wait for Air Hike,

or try it actually fight. As Nero you will need to buster them, but you only

have time on the small tiles with little room. But with Air Hike, you can jump

over and over on the small tiles to avoid attacks. The hardest thing is seeing

through their cloaks and knowing where to jump.

*NOTE: Come back when you have level 4 gunslinger and use Pandora's Argument

attack.*

*****

*****

Secret Mission 08 - Royal Blocker

Found: Forest Entrance, Mission 14

The trick is to kill one and then go into Royal Guard mode. I had success

blocking the slashing attack, but you have to block attacks successfully in a

row, so get to know how to block the pointing finger attack, which is hard.

Good luck, and if you ever want to whimp out, just kill the last one or go out

the door.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 09 - Unbreakable

Found: Library, Mission 15

Just kill everyone without taking a single hit, easy. Kill the Chimera first

using stinger, then stinger the rest, or shotgun infected enemies. For the

second wave, use your long range attacks, like the missiles and the shotgun.

Good luck.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 10 - Puppet Master

Found: Master's Chamber, Mission 05

*****

*****

Secret Mission 11 - Point of Impact

Found: Fortuna Castle Gate, Mission 16

You need Revenge for the Pandora and Speed to actually do the mission.

To find this one, while going up the steps in the "rock stairs" you will hit

a turn where you run into true stairs. Jump up the rock wall to see some orbs.

You need to double jump, trickster dash, and then do a Lucifer attack to get

up there.

In the mission, you must use the Pandora to destroy two objects. First,

stinger over and over to the right, or left. When at level with the

bridge, do the Revenge quickly. Then turn around and run to get level with the

other statue and do another Revenge.

*****

*****

Secret Mission 12 - Steeplechase

Found: Opera House Plaza, Mission 17

Get to the other side without taking a hit and without slowing time, great.

The trick is to have that Disaster Gauge up to full, be in gunslinger, and use

the Pandora's Argument move (check move list). Must have your gunslinger up

to level 4.

Q: Will I add the extra game modes?

A: Not likely. I am not a DMC expert, and I usually don't do extra game modes

anyway, especially endurance tests that are just hard for the sake of being

hard.
