Nvidia has revealed the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, and the RTX 2070, its new graphics card lineup that is aiming to push ray tracing technology into the homes of gaming enthusiasts everywhere. Of course, to actually get inside PC gamers’ rigs, people need to be able to buy them! While the RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 can both be pre-ordered right now, with a scheduled release date of September 20, the RTX 2070 release date remains unconfirmed. Why all the secrets, you ask? Let’s discuss.
RTX 2070 Release Date: When Is the 2070 Launching?
As mentioned above, the RTX 2070 release date is unfortunately still a mystery, with Nvidia focusing on the launch of the more expensive 2080 Ti and 2080 cards. As we’ve seen in the past, the flagships tend to roll out first to take advantage of the hype and those early adopters who aren’t so budget-conscious. Nvidia will likely then roll out the 2070 to scoop up the next bit of profit.
If the RTX 2070 release date follows the same scheduling as the GTX 1070, we can expect a launch of around two weeks after the 2080 Ti and 2080 launch. October 4 is my estimate, though it’s certainly possible that Nvidia will wait a little longer to really push eager buyers towards the more expensive options.
RTX 2070 Release Date: When Are the 2080 and 2080 Ti Launching?
In a surprising move, both the 2080 Ti and 2080 will be launching at the same time. While the Ti versions of Nvidia GPUs usually release much later down the road, we’re now seeing it lead the charge. September 20 is the day that Nvidia is aiming to launch the first run of graphics cards.
If you want to secure a 2080 Ti or 2080 for launch day, you’re probably going to need to pre-order. However, with benchmarks and performance in games not yet certain, it doesn’t seem like the wisest of moves.
