Introduction ] --- [IN00]= =============================================================================== Hello and welcome to my GRID FAQ/Walkthrough! Before we begin I must tell you one thing, and that's I'm generally not that good in this game. I'm not going to be beat many of you guys online. The focus of this guide then is to helping you clear the game once. I am sure you will be able to pick up some effective strategies as you go along that won't even be listed in this FAQ. I also want to say that I have, for the longest time, avoided doing guides for racing games. I thought it would be very awkward to tell someone to "drive left, then turn right, then left, etc." This is the first guide I've written for a racing game and as such there are going to be some kinks at first, but rest assured that I am working to minimize such occurences in this FAQ. Anyway, I hope you find something useful out of this file! =============================================================================== = --- [ 2. Version History] --- [VH00]= =============================================================================== [ Version 1.25, September 14, 2008 ] - Global License and Le Mans 24 Hours have both been added to the walkthrough. I couldn't get around to finishing off the vehicle listing section just yet, but that will absolutely be done by the next update. [ Version 1.00, September 12, 2008 ] - The walkthrough to obtain the three main licenses is complete. Global tiers and Le Mans 24 hours to come in the next update. The vehicle listing is also rather skeletal at the moment, but I intend to fix that up in the next version as well. =============================================================================== = --- [ 3. Game Basics ] --- [GB00]= =============================================================================== Let go of the gas pedal ----------------------- I would venture to guess that most people's problems with this game when they first start off is a general reluctancy to let go of the gas pedal. For GRID, you should get used to using tapping the gas pedal and really be ready to let go of it ASAP. There are a bunch of crazy turns and some of the vehicles here are just difficult to handle so let go of the gas pedal and stop going really really fast and you should find the game gets a bit easier. Drifting -------- For drifting, it is very important to have the right vehicle to do so. I would recommend getting the Mazda RX-7 or the Subaru Impreza. Basically, what you should look for is finding a car with a very low grip value, which means that it'll slide quite a bit. This is perfect for drifting if you think about it. The only thing you have to do is get used to the extra sliding. You might think using the E-Brake is essential for drifting, but to be honest I normally do it with the RX-7 without the E-Brake. To get a good drift with the RX-7, approach the corner normally and as you get close to the turn, start tapping the brake button, and as you start to slide, accelerate the vehicle to promote your skid. You can also use the E-brake for drifting. I generally don't, but if you want to a thing to remember is to just press it once. A mistake most people make is they hold on to it, which is incorrect. Press it once as you make your turn and you should sldie a bit already. Passing other drivers --------------------- This is an important skill to have because I will make reference to this quite a bit in the walkthrough. Ideally, you are looking for any turn in which you can take the inside part of the track and get ahead of the other drivers making the same turn by the end of it. As a general rule, it's a good idea to approach turns slowly and finish quickly. Flashbacks ---------- I think Codemasters anticipated that this was going to be a pretty difficult game, so they included the Flashback function for your benefit. With this, you can essentially attempt a part of the track again, if you so desire. To do so, pause the game, go to Instant Replay and select the point where you want to retry, and hit the F12 Button. You will also have the option to use your Flashbacks once you make a race-ending crash. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4. GRID World Walkthrough ] --- [GWWK]= =============================================================================== =============================================================================== = --- [ 4i. Prologue/Training ] --- [GWPT]= =============================================================================== Consider this track a formality more than anything. As the voiceover is going to tell you, it doesn't matter where you finish. The only thing that matters is finishing the race so you can obtain/unlock the Rookie License. Anyway, the first part of the track is going to be quite narrow, so don't be too impatient here. There are a few small turns coming up. Eventually, you will reach a straight path that seems perfect for you to go really, really fast which is probably your inclination. Let me tell you now that that you are sorely mistaken. At the end of this straight path is an extremely sharp left turn, and this is likely where most people's races would end. Now that you've read this FAQ though, you shouldn't be one of them. After that sharp left turn at the foot of the building, there are a few more small turns before you arrive at a hill. Accelerate up this hill as fast as you can but slow down while you approach the top of it, because there's one more fairly sharp right turn here. The rest of the track should be cake so finish it off to obtain your license. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4a. Rookie License ] --- [GWRL]= =============================================================================== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ A.R.L. Rookie ] --- [GWA1]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Cobra Pro Tuned Tour [GWCP] -------------------- The first track is going to be pretty foreign to you, so let's stick to the basics. Focus more on the structure of the track instead of going really fast, which you might be tempted to do. Once you reach the first corner, it's time to make your move to try and get into a better position. Stick to the inside and hug the wall as you move past the other cars. Don't be over concerned about passing the others here, because that could result in a crash. Up ahead are a few more corners and it won't be long after those until you reach a few tight turns. Lucas Oil Bay Bridge Trophy [GWLO] --------------------------- There shouldn't be too many challenges here. It is a very straight forward race and you should be able to contend for first place with fairly little effort. After you clear the first few corners you should be in the middle of the pack. These shouldn't be very difficult. Do your best to manuever around the tire stacks. As a general rule of thumb that should apply for the rest of Career Mode, remember to use your brake button when you are trying to clear turns. It's a lot more important to clear the turn without causing a crash than it is to maintain a big speed during the turn. Shortly after clearing some small turns, watch out for the super tight turn near the halfway point of the track, in front of the building. Once you figure out how to clear that big turn you should be well on your way of clearing this race. The second race takes place on a much smaller track. Focus on clearing the first few turns effectively and not crashing. You will soon reach a few tight turns in a row. Remember to use the brake button or at least let go of the gas button so you can maintain a good pace. After clearing those turns, use the end of the track to accelerate straight forward and attempt to take the lead. You should use this point in the track to try and get ahead. Michigan Demolition Derby [GWMD] ------------------------- There are six laps in total so prepare yourself for a little bit of a process. The best way to perform effectively in this race is to maintain a constant speed. Try not to ever have to slow down considerably, but at the same time that doesn't mean that your finger should be stuck on the gas button. Also, remember to watch out for the inside walls, because they can cause some crashes if you are not careful. This is unfortunate because you should be able to get ahead of the other drivers by using physics and hugging the wall (while not crashing). You should be the most careful in the two jumps in this race. You are probably going to need a few practice runs before being able to clear them satisfactorily. The second track is a little different, but it's also pretty similar to the first. Try to use some of the easier corners to put yourself in a good position. After you've grown accustomed to the mechanics of driving the MK5 through the first race, the second one shouldn't be too difficult. Just try to focus on manuvering the few corners effectively to finish in a good spot. Quikshift DC Challenge [GWQS] ---------------------- It won't be long in this first race until you come across a pretty sharp turn, so be ready to execute. You might notice the other cars going in a very wide angle, and staying on the outside of the track. This is your opportunity to take the inside track to better your position. There should be one more corner like this shortly after, so you just might be able to move into top position on that turn. Don't get too comfortable for the rest of the lap because there are a few sudden turns on this track. For the second race, you should look to jump ahead on the very first turn of the race near the beginning of the track. You can do this by sticking along the right, and the inside part of the track for this long turn. Watch out for the grass though, because if you go on to there you can expect to drop a few places. Otherwise, finess your way through this big turn and you should find yourself threatening for the leader spot. There are few more easy turns on this track that should allow you to move into top spot if you execute. Remember to stay on the inside part of the track to move up places. Dodge Motor City Cup [GWDM] -------------------- There are two races in this tournament for you to handle. Start the first race slowly because there are quite a few obstacles ahead. Focus on manuevering through rather than accelerating past everyone. After you get past the beginning you would ideally want to be in the middle of the pack. Don't worry about that though because there are some corners coming up near the middle of the track where you should be able to use to your advantage. Those corners are pretty much the final opportunity ont his track to improve your position, so you should clear those with a sense of urgency. Don't go really crazy with it though because overcommiting could spell the end of your race. The second race is just the reverse of the first track. There are two ways in which you can approach this problem, you can try to think about this track as completely opposite to the first (a right turn on the first track would now be a left, etc), or you can approach this as a new but familiar track altogether. I personally have more success implementing the second approach. Use the one to your liking to get through this second track, all the strategies from the first race apply here. Direzza Club Trophy [GWDC] ------------------- This is going to be a pretty easy track I think. You have ample opportunities to improve your position. I urge you to aggress nearly all of the corners that you come across. You should be aiming for a first place finish on this race. On top of having a bunch of corners, there is also one big sharp right turn you should watch out for. Any overaggression there will spell the end of the race for you. It comes up right near the end of the lap so be ready. If you clear that corner successfully, there is no reason you shouldn't finish 1st in this one. For the second race in this event, you should look to be aggressive early and fight for a good position to open the race. The reason for that is, there are really only a limited number of good corners for you to gain spots later, but you can still get passed rather easily at this track. As you can see now it is pretty important for you to get out ahead early, so you aren't trying to jump up like 8 spots to the top 3 later on in the track, because it's not possible. There's a pretty sharp left turn near the end of the track that you should watch out for. Head 2 Head [GWH1] ----------- You already know this is and when you will unlock it, so let's get right into the strategy. Because there is only one other car in this race, you should look to be as aggressive as possible. Floor the car to start the race and accelerate straight ahead. You will soon come to a very sharp left turn. I implore you to be very careful here. Try to manuever your way to the inside part of the track prior to the turn to get ahead after this turn. There are a few more sudden turns later in the track so never get too comfortable. If you can clear those smoothly though, there is no reason why you shouldn't get 1st place in this race and bring down all that prize money. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ Euro R ] --- [GWE1]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= BMW Challenge [GWBW] ------------- Look to establish a strong start on this track. You are using a very good car so be very aggressive in the beginning. You will have an opportunity to better your position a little bit on the first turn. It's fairly tricky so approach it with caution. You'd want to get on the inside on this turn. Watch out for the grass and stay off of it if you can. There are a few sudden turns coming up next so stay on your toes for those. Once you arrive at the middle part of the track, you will be faced with a straight path. Floor it and go straight down here. Start slowing down as you approach the end of the straight path because there's a very sharp left turn at the end of it. Stay aggressive and manuever your way to the inside to jump ahead a few more places. That's about the last obstacle on this track. On the second race, look to once again get off to a strong and aggressive start. Start looking to better your position even more as you approach the first of many turns. There's a pretty sharp left turn near the end of the lap so watch out for that. Other than that though you should be able to finish favourably in this one. Bilstein Festival Milano [GWFM] ------------------------ The beginning of this track is a little tricky so avoid being too aggressive at first. There's a little "zig-zag" turn right at the start that begins right and ends left. Try to stick to the inside of both of these turns if you can. Continue ahead on this track and you will soon notice that there are a bunch of turns you have to make. Use these as opportunities to creep up on the leaderboard. As you approach the final part of the track, it's time to add some gas and keep up with the rest of the pack. Ideally, you would want to be near the top of the leaderboard by the time you reach this final section, because you will find that's it pretty difficult to gain places here. The second race is full of a bunch of little and easy turns for you as well. The beginning part of the track is a little awkward again so best to save your aggression for later on, which you will be required to do to finish in a good position. It's important that you stay wary of some of the tire stacks scattered at the end of most turns. So once again use the turns to get ahead and keep doing that until you reach the final long turn at the end of the track. This "zig-zaggyy" turn can be a little tricky if you are going too fast, so it's best to ease up on the gas pedal as you look to clear this turn. Dunlop Spa Challenge [GWDS] -------------------- All right, for the first part of this track accelerate as hard as you can up the hill, because there are no obstacles to speak of. Just remember to maintain control of your car and stay off the grass on that first climb up the hill. There are a few sharp turns for you to better/maintain your position near the middle of the track. You should look to maintain a high speed for the rest of the way. When you approach the final parts of the track, you need to slow down to make the right sharp turn. If you aren't careful your race could be over there. Once you clear that there's one more turn to do, and I recommend that you be aggressive on this one. If you are lucky, you might even be able to go from 2nd to 1st to steal the race at the last second (if it comes down to that). You'll be happy to know that you only have to clear one race to finish this event. BMC Formula 1000 [GWMC] ---------------- Racing with the F3 is going to be pretty difficult to jump right into, so I recommend that you exit GRID World temporarily and get used to the vehicle in Race Day mode first. All right, don't be too overly aggressive at the beginning of the track because there's a pretty dangerous turn about 10 seconds out. You won't be able to use this one to better your position, so just focus on staying with the pack and clearing that turn without whiping out. As you progress through the track, there will be more and more corners for you to better your position, so wait for those to present themselves. A word of caution though, because when you reach roughly the halfway point of the track, there is going to be a very sharp right turn that you have to clear. I guess the turn itself isn't really that tight as some others, but the vehicle you are using kind of makes it worse. There is one more turn like this one shortly after so stay ready. As you make your way to the end of the track, be prepared for a very dangerous "zig-zag" turn, which takes you first to the right then to the left. Again, it is ideal to focus on clearing this part without going on the grass, so try not to worry about getting ahead of people here. For the second race, look to jump out to a fast start early. You will have an opportunity to work on your position shortly after on the first turn. Get to the inside and accelerate through from there. After doing so, there are some sudden turns that you will have to deal with. With the correction precision though you should be able use them to improve your position. Once you reach the straight path, accelerate at maximum speed right through about 80% of it. Slow down as it ends though because there's a pretty sharp turn waiting for you at the end of the straight path. You can go for an overtake here if you are well behind of the pack and need to gamble. Otherwise, it is much better to just focus on getting a clean turn here. The rest of the race really has nothing notable, so rinse and repeat to finish off the track. Firestone TVR Showdown [GWTV] ---------------------- For the first race, don't look to be too aggressive at the start, because there is a pretty sharp turn shortly after the gun goes off. After clearing this turn, you have a few more sudden turns you need to worry about on this track. They probably shouldn't be a problem though, and you should look to use those to better your position a little bit. As you approach the halfway point of the track though, there are two very dangerous turns thrown at you. It's best to slow down here and not try anything risky. If you are on your final lap and in a bad position though, I suppose you can try and gain the inside, but you will have to be very careful. After you clear those two turns it should be smooth sailing for a bit, but not for long. As you approach the end of the lap there is a pretty nasty "zig-zag" turn that you need to clear. Best not to be very aggressive here. The second race is essentially the same as the first, so similar strategies apply. There are notable differences near the end of the lap though. There's another zig-zag turn, but this time going in the opposite direction. There are also some new sharp corners past that turn, so be ready for those. Goodridge Trophy [GWGO] ---------------- Look to jump out to an aggressive start here. There aren't many other opportunities to improve your position so it'd be a good idea to do so. Parts of this track are also pretty narrow so passing is going to be a little more difficult. Anyway, use the first turn you come across to try and improve your position a bit. You might notice that the corners on this track are all pretty difficult to take advantage of -- that's because of the car you are using. There's a pretty precise speed (give or take 1 or 2 km) that you have to go at to get a few good turns off. For me it was 170 km/h, so use that as a starting point for yourself. When you reach the series of four consecutive sudden turns, look to maintain a high speed through them. It is very possible to pull this off, but if you are comfortable being in the position you are now it is not worth it. If you didn't take a chance in the series of four turns, perhaps you should think about doing so in the final few "zig-zag" turns of this track. Look to get to the inside there and better your spot. For the second race, look to once again get off to a fast start. There are too many structural differences in this one as the previous race, but you do need to watch out for the left turn near the 40 second mark of the track. Make sure you turn left here and don't continue ahead to the wall which would end your race or the very least your chances of victory. The same principles from the first race apply here so use those to pick up a good finish. Head 2 Head [GWH2] ----------- This should be your second Head 2 Head race if you went from America to Europe like most people do. Unfortunately for you, this one should be a little tougher than the first time around -- and I say this as modestly as possible. Begin by flooring it right out of the gun and jump out to an early lead. This track is pretty narrow so it is in your best interests to be leading as soon as possible. Shortly after the beginning you will be infront of a church and a facing a left turn. Be aggressive and look to take the inside part of the track on the left turn. As you approach the tunnel, you might want to think about slowing down. There's a very dangerous turn here that could end your race if you are sloppy or too aggressive. Be smart because you still have a few more opportunities to regain your lead if you lose it there. After clearing that turn, you will be faced with a few zig-zaggy turns. These are pretty tricky as well, but you should be able to recapture the lead here with precision turning and a little luck. There is also a pretty difficult right turn near the end of the lap where you are pretty much forced to stay in the middle of the track because if you get too close to either wall you will take some damage. Ideally, you'd want to be in the 1st spot as you approach this right turn. There will be one more turn shortly after this one, and you should look to clear this one aggressively. Get on the inside part of the track and increase your lead or regain the top spot. Continue along the track and you will soon reach just an insane left turn. This just might be the hardest turn you've encountered thus far. To clear it, you need to approach it at just the right angle. As you approach this one, you have to veer off to the left already even before you reach the corner. You just have to slow down and approach this one very carefully. Don't try anything crazy because this is definitely not the spot to do it. Watch out for the pylons because they stick out so much, just inviting you to crash into one. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ J-Speed Rookie ] --- [GWJ1]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jun Street Series [GWJS] ----------------- You'll be driving the 350z in this race, and it is a damn good car so you should have no problems bettering the competition. This track is pretty narrow compared to what you have been dealing with, so look to jump out to a fast start. I should also note that there are a bunch of barriers and structures you would think have no business being on a race track to make your life miserable. After making a good start you should soon come to a series of curves. Don't think too much about passing just yet, but focus more on clearing these curves cleanly. One notable point of the track is when you are forced to leave the road completely and turn right on to what would it appear to be undrivable terrain. Be very careful as you progress through here and try not to hit the crates to the side. The final section of the track has a pretty friggin' sharp left turn you need to watch out for. Similar to the turn I talked about in the Euro R Head 2 Head, you need to start very early to pull off a good one. Champion Touge Shield [GWSH] --------------------- This is a different tournament than what you have been dealing with, so I am going to quickly explain what you have to do. There are three races in total that are all on the same course. You are only competing against one other driver on all three races and there are two laps per run. It is important that you do not drive your car into your opponent at any time of the race, because the result is a few seconds will be added to your overall time, which is going to hurt pretty bad. Anyway, begin the first race by jumping out to an aggressive start. You are going to faced with some pretty sudden turns in this race, but you can use those to better your position even further by taking the inside part of the track. I should note that while you can't hit the other drive, it is still fair game to perform some blocking moves on him, which I would recommend you doing. Near the end of the track is a pretty tight turn. You shouldn't look to aggress through this turn. Instead, focus on getting a clean one off and try to block the other driver if you can. The final part of the track has another pretty sharp turn for you to deal with, so be ready for that. For the second race, getting off to a very good start is an absolute must. For the majority of this race, you should look to take the inside part of the track in every opportunity you can. Be very careful though, because if you hit him you will be penalized. You have a pretty good opportunity to pass him near the right turn in the beginning. Secure the inside part of the track and make your turn from there. There are a few more turns like this on the rest of the track so keep using those to your advantage. The third and final race is pretty much the same. Get off to a good start and use those turns in this race to make your move. I would recommend that you don't try anything aggressive on the sharp left turn near the end of the track though. By now you should be very comfortable on this track so you should have no problems winning 1st place on this third race. HKS Freestyle Drift [GWHK] ------------------- This race is exclusively drift oriented. There is no "racing" to be done, and all you have to do is focus on making good drifts. You might think using the E- Brake is essential for drifting, but to be honest I normally do it with the RX- 7 without the E-Brake. To get a good drift with the RX-7, approach the corner normally and as you get close to the turn, start tapping the brake button, and as you start to slide, accelerate the vehicle to aggreviate your skid. If you don't like the RX-7, you might want to consider the Subaru Impreza. Both cars are pretty good and you have a lot of options here. Just go with a car that you are comfortable with and follow the drifting strategy. Avo Turboworld Drift GP [GWAV] ----------------------- This is going to be another drifting event. You won't have to worry about what place you finish or racing anyone here. Just pull off some good drifts and increasing your multiplier. You can do that by doing as many drifts as possible without stopping. There really isn't much more to say for this track. Nissan Cup [GWNI] ---------- As you can probably guess, you will be using some Nissan vehicles for this event. Not that that's a problem though, because you can use the 350z again, which is one of my favourite cars. All right, so the first race begins with the track veering off to the left for an extended period of time. This is a good opportunity for you to take the inside part of the track and pass some chumps. You will soon encounter a pretty sharp turn, and you can use this to improve your position even further. This is the beginning of a few more corners thrown at you, and you can look to improve your spot on nearly all of them. The final part of the first lap features a pretty sharp left turn. It shouldn't be anything you haven't seen before though, and you should be able to use it to your advantage. The second race of this event puts you on the same track, but going in the opposite direction. As mentioned before, it is much more efficient to think of this as a familiar track than trying to memorize exactly where you need to turn right instead of left. I find the latter usually creates some problems. There are some corners for you to take advantage in this track again. A really important point in this track is the second turn. Look to get on the inside of this one because it is not too difficult. Another noteworthy corner is the one that comes up at about the halfway point. You should be able to take the inside of this one as well and use it to your advantage. Viper Vs Skyline Challenge [GWVS] -------------------------- For this race, I recommend that you choose the Skyline to bring home the title. You will be competing against one other driver, and he will be driving the car opposite to what you have chosen. Remember that you are not allowed to drive your car into the other car. So you should look to get out to an aggressive start here. You will be starting in second place so it's time to pick out a few spots for you to make your move. The left and then right turn near the very beginning of the track is an ideal spot to do so. Remember to avoid contact with the other driver if you can. Focus on using the corners to pass and maintaining a high speed throughout the race. Head 2 Head [GWH3] ----------- This should be your third Head 2 Head race so far. This one is going to take place at night, but that isn't going to change much on the grand scheme of things. This is a single lap race, but it's a pretty big one. You are going to start off in 2nd place, so you will have to focus keeping pace with him at first. Get ready to gain on him on the first series of turns. Work your way to the inside of the track and look to get ahead with those. Try to use your car and block him for a bit once you get ahead. You will have to do this as you two are still pretty close. You have to be very careful when doing this because if you hit his vehicle some seconds will be added to your overall time when you finish. All right, there are going to be some pretty difficult corners on this track. One to watch out for is at roughly the 1 minute mark of the race. Try to slow down earlier so your car doesn't go out of control and crash into the mountain wall, which would of course end the race for you. Shortly after you pass the turn I just described, you will have to start dealing with some more difficult turns. I recommend that you stay aggressive for those and try to maintain a high speed as you move through them. You should also be pretty comfortable with drifting now, and you can go that route if you want. Just make sure you have enough confidence in your abilities to not cause a crash that late in the track, which would really suck. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4b. Pro ] --- [GWA2]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ecko Unltd US Drift Battle [GWEK] -------------------------- This should be the first drift race that you participate in. You should strongly consider purchasing the Mazda RX-7 for this race. Not only is this car suitable for this race, but it should be good enough to get you through the rest of the drift races in this game, so it has quite a bit of "shelf" life. Note that this car has very less grip so it slides a lot, which is perfect for drifting if you think about it. All right, so for the actual track, you should note that this is both a drift battle and a race; you are still trying to place high, but you are also trying to gain drift points. For this race I would recommend making two very good drifts instead of trying to get many of them. There is a very good corner for you to make a drift near the start of the race. Try to follow the strategy I gave above to get a good one off. There's another corner near the halfway point of the course where you can get another decent drift off. I like to just use the first corner, though. Spend the rest of your time bettering your position and focus more on placing high. The opposite applies for the second race. Instead of focusing on making a few excellent drifts, look to make several pretty good ones to pile up the points. The reason for that is, the really good turn near the beginning of the track is no longer available to you. To compensate for that though the race is extended by one lap and there are many more opportunities to make your drifts. Don't forget that you are also racing for position, though. Look to gain a few spots near the middle of the track on the left turn. Get really close to the wall on your left to try and get ahead. The third track is pretty difficult, I'd say. There are going to be a lot of corners thrown at you near the start of the race. Try not to be over aggressive here, but you should be able to pick a few spots to improve your position. But like I said, don't go overboard with them or you can take some serious damage. Try to take sometime to pull off a few drifts near the beginning as well, because there aren't going to be many more opportunities to do that. Ebay Motors Muscle Cup [GWEB] ---------------------- This track should be nothing new. Just remember to focus on making your turns effectively and avoiding big crashes. Watch out for the tight corner at about the third way point of the track, and there's another one shortly after that. Every time you are on a familar track, you know you have a good chance of making some noise in the race. Try to anticipate when a turn is coming and get into the inside lane to move ahead a few places. Keep this up for the remainder of the track and you should be able to finish favourably. The second track is slightly more difficult I'd say, but it still shouldn't be anything too difficult. Try to jump out to an aggressive start and put yourself in a good position early. When you see a straight path ahead of you, try not to get too comfortable because there are a few sudden turns in this track, so watch out for those. I would venture to say that that's likely where you would falter, if I had to choose a point in this track. If you can navigate those sudden turns effectively, you are in a good spot to finish in a good spot. The third track in the Ebay Motors Muscle tournament pits you in an EIGHT lap race. Don't worry though, because each of those laps can be completed in a rather short period of time. Begin this race conservatively, and not worrying about getting ahead just yet. Once you approach the first tight corner, get ready to make your move. Accelerate towards the inside part of the track cut ahead a few places. Navigate the next few turns in this track and you will soon reach one more tight turn. Be sure to get on the inside so you can keep/get ahead of the pack. Rinse and repeat to complete this tournament. Ferodo S7 Speed Series [GWS7] ---------------------- This should be another familar track to you. Expect this to be a trend for many parts of the game as you progress. You probably already have a pretty good idea on how to beat this race, but just as a reminder, look to get out to a fast start. The track doesn't have any enough surprises near the beginning to catch you off guard, I think. Your goal is to establish a lead over the other contestants and maintain it for the rest of the race. Unlike the other races, you should be able to do that early. Your biggest obstacle in this track should be the initial sharp turn, but once you clear that you should be well on your way of placing at the top of the leader board. This track does have a few sudden turns, so remember to watch out for those. It's best to go into the second track with a little more sense of urgency than the previous. Start by tapping the gas button instead of holding on to it because the opening part of the track requires quite a bit of manuevering. Try not to crash into anything here. Don't try and overtake anybody in the opening area of the track, but instead focus more on getting through it without taking too much damage. Look to gain some speed after you've made it through the tricky beginning part and get ahead of some drivers on the upcoming turns. There should be about 4-5 of them ahead, and they come rather suddenly so be careful with those. After you clear those turns, there are a few more turns ahead but they shouldn't require as much as manuevering as the first parts of the track. You can probably begin to aggress after you've cleared the 4-5 turns in the middle of the track, so look to get on the inside in the final turns of the track. Try not to be too aggressive during the first lap because this track is pretty new to you. Instead, look to do the most damage when you are in the 2nd and final lap. The final track in this tournament is actually quite small. As you can probably guess, this means that there's quite a bit of manuevering required. For the first lap, focus on getting used to the turns and establishing some timing as you go through the track. On your second lap, try to anticipate when a corner is coming (shouldn't be too difficult because there's a lot of them), and immediately accelerate to the inside of the track. You should be able to accelerate up the ranks with this strategy. Try not to be aggressive on all the turns, but instead try to pick your spots. I had the most success with the 2nd small turn so you should try it there as well. If you can't finish where you want at first, restart the race and try again. Simpson F3 Shield [GWF3] ----------------- The first race is pretty small, so you can expect that there are going to be some tricky corners here. The laps are going to be over in a blink of an eye so you don't have much time to get ahead. Thankfully, you will have a few opportunities to make some good turns to improve your position. You should look to capitalize on your very first turn, veering to the left. If you find that you are getting some pretty poor results at first, try to take some time to adapt to driving the F3 because it is quite different from other cars. I find that you have to be able to maintain a pretty high speed to keep control of your vehicle. So keep this in mind, but at the same time try not to have your finger stuck on the gas button. Your biggest obstacle in this track is probably getting used to the car more than anything track/terrain related. The second track is similar to the first, but there are going to be some added tunnels. Getting through those is going to take some manuevering so don't fall in love with the gas pedal when going through them. Other than that, there are some similar strategies to the first track. Get into the inside part of the turn to get ahead of the pack and repeat until this track is over. Because you are slightly more familiar with the track the second time around, try to get ahead quickly and stay on top, but at the same time you need to watch out for the tunnels. Forget about everything that has to do with the previous two races. This is because in the third and final race of this tournament, you have to do the entire track in what is essentially the reverse direction. You have to pretty much go from the Finish line to the Start line. I found that it got a lot more confusing for me personally when I was trying to constantly think of this track being the opposite to the first two. Instead, approach this race with the skills you've learned in the first two races to tackle it. You should have a pretty good grasp on operating the F3 now so focus more on the fundamentals than the track here. Look to get inside during turns of course, and try to maintain some speed when you are making the turns. It might take a few runs to get obtain a desirable finish but that's ok. Goodyear Continental GT [GWGT] ----------------------- The first part of the track is a little tricky, so don't worry too much about jumping out to a very big start just yet. You will soon come to a pretty wide turn and this is your opportunity to attack. Look to get on the inside of this turn to better your position a little bit. As you approach some of the sharper turns on this track, you should still continue to be aggressive. This track doesn't particularly have many obstacles, so it's OK to be very aggressive during the turns. You'll notice that the other drivers often slow down as they approach turns, which further justifies your case of cutting through them aggressively. When you approach the final part of the lap though, you should be careful of the little turn here. If you are going too fast here you might make a crash into the left wall, so avoid that by slowing down. You shouldn't try to be very aggressive at the start of this second race. The reason for that is, it starts off very narrow so you if you just make the slightest mistake you could be in some trouble. Instead, just stick with the pack for now and wait for your time to attack. The time to do so is when you approach the halfway point of the track, where you will be faced with a series of tight turns. Look to take the inside on these turns and better your position that way. Be sure to watch out for a bunch of tire stacks as you make your turns. If you aren't in 1st as you approach the final section of the track, then it's time to take it. There are a few wider turns here that you can take advantage of by cutting through them on the inside. Jump out to an aggressive start on the third race and look to take 1st on the very first lap. It is certaintly possible to do so. There are going to be plenty of easy corners for you to take advantage of in this track, so don't be shy. As you approach the halfway point of this track, you will come across pretty dangerous zig-zag turn so it might be best to let go of the gas pedal for a bit here. After clearing that turn, it should be downhill (figuratively) to the finish line from here. US Supercar Challenge --------------------- If you are used to driving fast cars, this track should be a cakewalk. The idea is that you need to maintain a higher speed than slower cars while you going through the same corners. If you want, you can go to Race Day mode and drive one of the cars available to you for practice. Otherwise, begin by getting an aggressive start on this track. Maintain a high speed as you navigate the first few turns. As you approach the middle of the track though there are going to be a series of little turns that might give you some trouble. To clear them, just try to start turning very early, just as they become visible to you, start veering off in that direction. The right turn in the middle of the track is particularly tricky. Continue along until you hit the final part of the track, which is a very narrow zig-zag turn. Try to accelerate through here ahead of the other drivers if you find yourself behind. For the second race, jump out to a big start and make your way towards the inside part of the track. As you hit the first turn, you should be able to gain plenty of spots here. There are a few more sudden turns on this track that you should be able to take advantage of. As you approach the slower part of the track, you'd want to be near the top of the leaderboard already. After you clear this section, it's time to put some pressure on the gas pedal and make your way to the leader of the pack. This is pretty much it for this track. For the third and final race of this event, look to gain a perfect start. This is going to be a pretty slow part of the track, and as you probably know this could mean trouble for the car you are driving. Because of this, try to be faster than the other cars at first, and maybe even being a little reckless. The reason for that is, if you can pull off a good start here it could do wonders in establishing a top finish on this race. The only down side to driving like this is you might crash and end your race -- but it's early, so you can just restart and it won't be much of an issue. There are a few zig-zag turns in this race that you need to watch out for, so try to maintain some speed as you go through them. There are also a few sudden turns in this race that you should be able to take advantage of. As you approach the final two zig-zag turns in this race, you should be in a good enough spot where you don't have to try anything risky. Head 2 Head [GWH4] ----------- This duel is probably going to be the toughest yet, and it's mostly because of the car you are driving. This one just loves to slide so much and that's not the kind of car that is advantageous on this track. Focus on navigating the beginning cleanly at first. It's going to be pretty difficult to be aggressive here, so just try to stick close to the opponent for now. There are a bunch of sudden turns that you will have to deal with. Try to maintain a good speed as you go through them, but don't go crazy on the gas either, because of the skid on this vehicle. Avoid having to stop suddenly because you will slide all the way to the end of the race. You will be able to avoid that by going at an above average speed. At above the midway point of the track are a bunch of sharp turns. The turns are going to give you the opportunity to make your move. Accelerate towards the turn and force your way to the inside part of the track. Keep accelerating through and you should find yourself in the top spot. Now it's time to maintain a high speed and block him whenever possible. There are going to be a few more minor turns for you to deal with for the remainder of the lap. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ Euro B ] --- [GWE2]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Le Mans Series (GT2) [GWG2] -------------------- For the first race, accelerate straight down the pipe and you should soon come to a pretty sharp right turn. Just focus on clearing this turn cleanly because the track narrows off a bit, making it pretty difficult to get ahead. Instead, try to hit a few of the other drivers to get ahead maybe one spot. It's OK if you hit a couple of cars here, because some minor damage isn't going to take any noticeable control away from your vehicle. Being aggressive on the turns is going to be pretty difficult this time around, so instead, try to maintain some good racing by clearing each turn cleanly and maintaining a good speed. As long as you do this you should be better off than most of the drivers in this race. As you approach the middle of the track, you should be very careful. There's a pretty sudden zig-zag turn that forces you to make a quick right turn and then quickly a left after that. Try to start your turns as early as possible to avoid any crashes. For the second lap, if you have enough separation from the cars behind you try to make an aggressive move on the very first turn. Accelerate through it and force your way to the inside part of the track to see if you can take the lead there. On the second race of this event, watch out for some of the more sudden turns. You should be able to take the inside on those turns though so try to do so. Try to slide through these to maintain some speed if you can. Otherwise, just approach them like any other turns. This race is essentially just a bunch of sudden turns, but none of them should be too difficult. Use those turns to keep moving up on the rankings and just rinse and repeat until the end of the race. Start off the third race by immediately shifting to the inside part of the track. Make an aggressive push here to establish the inside part of the track as yours. As you approach the first turn, stay on the inside but don't try anything crazy here -- there are some big time obstacles facing you and you can't afford a race-ending crash here. Do try to tackle this race at a pretty high speed though. Other than that, watch out for the tight zig-zag turn near the end of the lap. Maintain a high speed through that turn but slow down if you think you are going to lose control of your vehicle. Mintex European F3 [GWME] ------------------ I personally just hate the Formula races mainly because of the vehicles. The key to success with the F3 is having the ability to race through the entire track at a very high speed. This is going to be your goal, so remember it well. All right, begin this track by having a perfect start if you can. Look to maintain a high speed when you arrive at the first corner, which won't take long. Try not to slow down because your car is going to slide pretty badly if you do. There are going to be a few sudden turns coming up, none of which should be too difficult. Do your best to proceed through them at the highest speed you can. As you reach the second half of the track there are going to be a few tight corners. These should be your opportunities to do some passing. Don't try taking a shortcut on the grass though, because as soon as you go on there you are going to slide like crazy. Once you reach the series of four easy turns, try to absolutely go as fast as you can here. If you are able to do so, you should be able to overtake the leader at this point. The final portion of this track is going to throw a bunch of sharp turns at you, so once again focus on clearing those at high speed. For the second race, focus on clearing the opening part of the track cleanly. The first corner is especially tricky, so try to clear this one without sliding. This course is filled with sudden turns so be ready for those. They shouldn't be too much of a problem though, just try not to slow down too much and stay on the inside part of the track. Watch out for the final part of the track, where you'll have to go through a zig-zag turn and some very tight turns after that. Focus on accelerating at the right time after making your turn to overtake the other drivers. For the final race in this event, begin by accelerating straight down the asphalt and make a nice right turn without slowing down too much. For this opening turn, focus more on clearing it without damaging yourself than overtaking anyone yet. Try to maintain a very high speed as you clear the middle portion of the track, which involves you making a right turn and then a very quick left turn, once again in zig-zag fashion. There is also a pretty tight turn near the finish line, so remember to watch out for that as well. Euro Touring Car Series [GWET] ----------------------- Start off the first race by immediately shifting to the inside part of the track. As you approach the first turn, stay on the inside but don't try anything crazy here -- there are some big time obstacles facing you and you can't afford a race-ending crash here. Your oppotunity to do some passing are the relatively easy turns just before the middle portion of the track, look to get to the inside of them and overtake some of the other drivers. The final part of the track has a pretty difficult zig-zag turn that you have to watch out for. It's probably going to be too tough for you to overtake anyone here, so just focus more on clearing it. For the second race, look to be as aggressive as possible because there are plenty of opportunities for you to do so. I would venture to say that just about every turn in this race is a turn you can take advantage of. Near the start of the race though the track really narrows off a bit for the first zig- zag turn, but you should still be able to better your position here. The final part of the track is a little crazy though, featuring two very dangerous turns. Focus on clearing them here and not going very fast, though get ready to accelerate as soon as you see some straight asphalt ahead of you. That's pretty much it for this race. On the final race, look to jump off to a good start. It won't be long before you come across the first corner. Try to get on the inside of this one. It looks like a pretty difficult one, but you should be able to take advantage of it. When you reach the series of four minor turns, try to maintain a high speed as you accelerate through them. One final notable feature about the race is the final part of the track has a series of three tight turns you have to watch out for, so get ready for those. You should be able to use them to overtake the competition by getting on the inside of the turns. Aston vs Corvette Challenge [GWAC] --------------------------- Begin the first race by clearing through the zig-zag turn. If you are feeling lucky, go ahead and try to pull an aggressive overtaking manuever here. There will be a few minor turns for a while until you reach a pretty sharp left turn. Once again, it is up to you to decide whether you want to risk an overtaking manuever here -- though I wouldn't recommend it. You should probably focus more on clearing the turn effectively than fighting for position here. As you clear the last few corners and approach the final left turn, look to use this as a final passing spot of the lap if you need it. The second race in the track has plenty of passing spots for you. Basically any corner is an ideal spot to overtake. There are especially a few good ones near the midway point of the track, so focus on those. As you approach the finish line there are a series difficult turns that you need to watch out for. It'll be pretty difficult to overtake anyone here, so avoid doing that if you can. For the third and final track, the first point to bring your attention to is the zig-zag turn near the beginning of the track. Focus on clearing this one aggressively and bettering your position here. Keep accelerating your vehicle as you approach the straight path. There are a few unexpected turns here though so watch out for those. As you approach the final portions of this track, you will approach a bunch of sharp turns. These are the final spots in the lap for you to overtake the competition, so look to get into the inside part of the track on these turns to do some passing. Omex Supercar Series [GWOM] -------------------- On this first race, look to jump off to a good start. It won't be long before you come across the first corner. Try to get on the inside of this one. It looks like a pretty difficult one, but you should be able to take advantage of it. When you reach the series of four minor turns, try to maintain a high speed as you accelerate through them. Remember to keep your eye on the map because if you recall there's a point on this track where you have to turn left and failure to do so will result in a crash into the wall. One final notable feature about the race is the final part of the track has a series of three tight turns you have to watch out for, so get ready for those. You should be able to use them to overtake the competition by getting on the inside of the turns. For the second race, look to jump out to a fast start early. You will have an opportunity to gain work on your position shortly after on the first turn. Begin the third and final race by clearing through the zig-zag turn. Le Mans Series (GT1) [GWG1] -------------------- Look to jump out to an aggressive start here. For the third race, don't look to be too aggressive at the start, because there is a pretty sharp turn shortly after the gun goes off. The final portion of the track has a pretty difficult left turn. You can use it to pass if you are desperate to meet some requirements. Head 2 Head [GWH5] ----------- All right, for this track you should focus your attention on the tight right turn near the opening portions of the track. This is your chance to overtake your opponent for the lead. There are a few more similar turns coming right up so keep that in mind. Once you move into 1st place, try to forget about the other driver now and focus more on maintaining your lead by out-driving him on the track. Shortly after these turns are a few dangerous corners thrown at you, so be very, very careful here, especially if you are in the lead. Try to slow down your vehicle if you can do it without giving up the lead. As you approach the final part of the lap, you will be dealing with a series of tight turns -- you should be able to use these to regain the lead from your opponent if you lost your lead at any part of the race. =-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- = --- [ J-Speed Super Two ] --- [GWJ2]= =-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- Toda Racing Challenge [GWTR] --------------------- All right, so the first race begins with the track veering off to the left for an extended period of time. For the third and final track, look to establish an aggressive start and be in a good position early. Once you approach the merger, try to accelerate your way through, but avoid a lot of damage if you can. There are going to be some unexpected turns here as well so keep an eye on the map. Navigate those turns and continue on. The majority of the lap is made up of the bridge you are about to enter. Accelerate at maximum speed through it and slow down as you approach the exit, because there's a pretty tight turn waiting for you. There are a few more for the remainder of the track and you really can't afford to mess up on any of them because you will get passed. Falken Super Street [GWFS] ------------------- This track is going to test you early with a pretty sudden turn, so be ready for that. There are some pretty good areas to perform some passing manuevers coming up near the middle of the track. Watch out for the big looping area of the track, because this could be trouble if you are not ready. Try to maintain a high speed as you work your way through it. Try to also stay in the middle of the track as you go through the big loop. For the second race, get to the inside part of the track early. There aren't many obstacles on this one, so you should be looking to do some passing ASAP. There are also a few sections on this track where the other drivers slow down. This means it's a good idea to try and build a strong lead early because nobody is going to be very aggressive. You might also want to use that portion of the track to better your position, it's entirely up to you. You should have no problems winning the third race, because it is essentially a repitition of short laps. This gives you ample opportunities to adapt to the track. There are a few tight turns near the very opening part of the track, so use those as oppotunities to do some passing. Be careful as you approach the big looping part of the track though, because it can be quite tricky. I would recommend going fairly slowly through the loop at first, but as you do it a few more times, you should be more confident accelerating and using it as a medium to do some passing. Downhill Drift Festival [GWDD] ----------------------- For this race, focus on staying close to the metal poles on the inside part of the race. Because of this track's difficulty, you are going to need all the extra help you can get. It is also a good idea to stay away from either side of the track when there are no metal poles because failure to do so could result in some crashes. As a general rule of thumb, look to up your multiplier every opportunity you get. Near the end of the track you are going to find a bunch of sharp turns, which is just a *****. Focus here on getting closer to the metal poles more than anything. NOS Midnight Touge [GWNO] ------------------ So this race is obviously at night, but that shouldn't change very much on the grand scheme of things. One thing to watch out for is the non-racers who will be coming from the opposite direction. Thankfully though, you are only competing against one other driver, so the track isn't going to be too overly cramped up. Just stay on the left side of the track because they will be coming from the right. All right, you are probably going to notice that the other driver will overtake you at first. Not to worry though champ, focus your attention on the first left turn of this track. Make your way to the inside part of the track and clear it, making sure to accelerate as you are about to finish the turn. The rest of the track is just full of a bunch of tight turns. Focus on approaching the turn slowly and accelerating at the end of it. The final "S" turn on the track is actually pretty dangerous, so it's best to slow down here and make sure you clear it cleanly. Remus Drift Battle [GWRE] ------------------ All right, for the first race, I would recommend making just a few very good drifts instead of making a bunch of OK ones. The key here is to find a pretty long turn where you can work your multiplier a little bit. I would focus more on trying to overtake the leader than thinking about the drifts. When you approach the sudden turns, you should always be looking to better your position. Because even if you attempt drifts in those corners you won't be able to pull off many spectacular points. Look to attempt your drifts on the spots with the fewest obstacles and obstructions, so you can minimize your chances of crashing. The second race basically has the entire track open for some nice drifting to you. It doesn't have all those obstacles like the first race. There really isn't too much to say about this one, except juicing up your multiplier because of all the space that's available to you. For the third race, you should once again focus on bettering your position at all the tight turns in this race. Focus on working on your multiplier on the longer turns. Once again, I would say it's a good idea to get off a few very good multiplying drifts than it is to do a bunch of decent ones. Valvoline Trophy [GWVA] ---------------- All right, the best way to approach the forthcoming races is to drive as fast as you can. This is the only way in which you will be able to maintain control because of your car's really crappy grip. You are kind of screwed on the first turn of the track because you'll have to slow down. You will also be sliding like crazy, so do your best to clear this first hiccup before slamming the gas pedal again. The next parts of the track needs to accelerated through, until you hit the S turn near the middle of the track. You will have to slow down a bit here to avoid plowing your vehicle on to the grass. The passing point on this track is the tiny area after the second turn of the race. Look to force yoru way to the inside of the track and accelerate through to move up a few spots. On the third race, winning is pretty much impossible IMO, so just focus on getting as high as possible. Because of how fast the other drivers will be driving on this track, you really have no opportunities to do any passing. The one point I can think of is the first left turn right near the beginning of the track. For the rest of the track, focus more on performing cleanly than the other drivers because your entire strategy should be based around navigating the track for the entire time and just passing on that first left turn near the beginning. Head 2 Head [GWH6] ----------- The opponent on this track is going to be pulling off some ninja **** here, with the amount of points he'd be racking up. The only positive is the track is very wide, and there's only two of you occupying its space. There's really no secret on how to defeat him, it's just like any other drift race. Focus on pulling off some big drifts and some big multipliers. I would also say stay close to the metal poles if you can, because your opponent is goign to be racking up some mad points here and you need all the help you can get. Be smart about it though, because if you are so concentrated on staying close to the poles that you crash, you will lose all your points. I think by now you should have a sense of which area of the track would give you problems. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4c. National License ] --- [GWNL]= =============================================================================== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ A.R.L National ] --- [GWA3]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Tag Prototype Series [GWTP] -------------------- For the first race, focus more on the structure of the track instead of performing a bunch of passing methods, which you might be tempted to do. Maintain a high speed as you work your way through them. You should be able to do some passing here. The third track in this tournament is actually quite small. The final track is quite narrow and is full of tunnels. Motul CCGT Series [GWMO] ----------------- I hope you like dealing with narrow tracks, because if you do this one should be a cake walk. For the rest of us though, it actually poses as a pretty significant obstacle. A narrow track usually means two things: one, you will have to do much more manuevering and think more about finese, two, it'll be much harder to pass other drivers. The track is essentially a series of very tight turns, so you do technically have plenty of passing opportunities. I recommend focusing on the bunch near the middle and long portion of the track, because I seem to have the most success doing so here. For the second track, watch out because the beginning part is actually quite narrow so don't be too impatient here. After that sharp left turn at the foot of the building, there are a few more small turns before you arrive at a hill. Accelerate up this hill as fast as you can but slow down while you approach the top of it, because there's one more fairly sharp right turn here. As you make your way down the hill though, you should consider slowing down a bit so your car doesn't stumble out of control. The third track shouldn't pose too many problems for you. It does start off pretty narrow though so be careful of that. Focus on sticking with the pack at first and wait for your time to attack. The time to do is when you approach the halfwaypoint of the track, where you will be faced with a series of tight turns. Rotora Capitol Drift [GWCD] -------------------- This drifting event shouldn't be as hard as the Head 2 Head one you to deal with on the Japanese Super-Two license. What you need to do is to of course acquire more points than your competition, but the weird part is they won't be on the same track with you. You should of course focus on running up your multiplier on all three races. There really isn't anything new pertaining to each race, with the exception that you will have to pull off more points in order to win as you move deeper into the tournament. The track itself is tailor-made for drifting, so you should have no problems pulling off some big points. Remember to also stay close to the metal poles whenever possible, especially as you approach the final rounds. This track does have some pretty sudden turns that could lead you to a race-ending crash though, but they are far and between so don't worry too much about them. Head 2 Head [GWH7] ----------- The opening part of the track is pretty narrow, so you will have to be tailing your opponent at first. Your chance to overtake him is coming up pretty soon though, and you should attempt a pass at the S turn near the 10 second mark of the course. As you approach the tunnel, you might want to slow down a bit because there are some pretty dangerous turns here. As you approach the halfway point of the track, it's time to get yourself ready to attack. There are going to be a series of sudden turns here and you should be able to use them to pass your opponent. After that, you'll have the chance to enjoy some straight asphalt. Don't get _too_ comfortable though, because you as approach the end part of the track you will have to perform a pretty dangerous turn, which requires you to slow down a bit. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ Euro A ] --- [GWE3]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Le Mans Series (LMP2) [GWL2] --------------------- All right, focus on the beginning with having a big start. You are probably going to notice that performing overtaking manuevers is going to be pretty difficult. You need to especially watch out for any sudden turns, because your car might swerve out of control. To prevent this you have to start your turns early, which means knowing the track is probably a good idea. You've been here a few times before, but it might also be a good idea to refresh your memory on Race Day. As you approach the final part of the lap, you will be faced with two pretty dangerous turns. The first one you should be able to see coming, but it's still pretty difficult. Focus on maintaining a high speed through it. It comes at roughly a bit after the 50 second mark (about 53). As soon as you clear this one, start getting ready to turn right, because the second one is coming up. This one might catch you by surprise if you are expecting it. If it does, it could spell some severe damage to your position, so be careful with that. Start off the second race by immediately shifting to the inside part of the track. Keep your eye on the map as you make your way towards the final portions of the lap. There's a right turn here that is kind of illusory to your eyes, so the only way you'll be able to know to turn is to watch the map. This is a pretty difficult turn, but as long as you know it's coming it probably won't be too difficult. The final part of the track has a pretty difficult zig-zag turn that you have to watch out for. It's probably going to be too tough for you to overtake anyone here, so just focus more on clearing it. For the third race, accelerate straight down the pipe and you should soon come to a pretty sharp right turn. For the fourth race, look to be as aggressive as possible because there are plenty of opportunities for you to do so. Virgin Mobile Endurance Classic [GWVI] ------------------------------- All right, the start of this track is going to be pretty difficult so don't worry about passing there just yet. I should also mention that this is a pretty huge ass track so you will have plenty of opportunities to pass later. Look to get on the inside and better your position as you approach the left turn near the 13 second mark. Just following that turn is a pretty difficult zig-zag turn, so I wouldn't recommend trying anythign dangerous there. There are a sudden turns that you will have to deal with following that zig-zag and you should be able to use these to better your position. One of the best parts of this track is the straight drive at about the halfway point of the lap. It's really one of the rare opportunities for you to slam the gas pedal for a long duration of time. As you approach the end of the straight asphalt, there's a modest turn waiting for you so don't let that catch you by surprise. You should be keeping an eye on the map after you've gone straight for a while. Near the final parts of the track is a pretty dangerous right turn. It is pretty damn sharp and you should definitely not try anything cute here. Approach this one slowly and as soon as you clear the apex get some acceleration back. This is pretty much the last notable feature of the track. Le Mans Series (LMP1) [GWL1] --------------------- For the first race, don't look to be too aggressive at the start, because there is a pretty sharp turn shortly after the gun goes off. As you approach the end of the lap there are some pretty difficult S turns thrown at you, so be ready for those. Start off the second race by immediately shifting to the inside part of the track. Make an aggressive push here to establish the inside part of the track as yours. As you approach the first turn, stay on the inside and look to make a push up the standings here. Stay aggressive for the rest of the track, but do watch out for a few dangerous S turns. There are a few more sudden turns on this track, but they aren't particularly threatening to you. For the final parts of the race focus on making a push to the top spot, because it is definitely possible to finish there. For the third race in this event, begin by accelerating straight down the asphalt and make a nice right turn without slowing down too much. For this opening turn, focus more on clearing it without damaging yourself than overtaking anyone yet. There are a few more sudden turns thrown at you for a while, so be ready for those. Try to maintain a very high speed as you clear the middle portion of the track, which involves you making a right turn and then a very quick left turn, once again in zig-zag fashion. There is also a pretty tight turn near the finish line, so remember to watch out for that as well. For the fourth race, you should have plenty of opportunities to do some passing so focus on doing so. The track kind of narrows off a bit near the opening area, so passing anyone would be pretty difficult there. Just focus on navigating that part of the track cleanly. The upcoming turns shouldn't pose too much of a challenge to you, but as you make your way to the final part of the track you will be faced with two pretty dangerous turns. Try not to worry about your positioning there, because passing is pretty difficult compared to the other parts of the track. Head 2 Head [GWH8] ----------- So here we have another F3 race, isn't that a treat. You are going to be doing some catchup for the majority of the track. Look to keep pace with him near the start and see if you can make a passing move near the first turn. By my estimation though that opportunity isn't going to present yourself. Instead, focus more on keeping right behind him in a threatening position. As you approach your first zig-zag turn, it's time to make your move. Make a shift over to the inside part of the track if you haven't already and look to overtake the leading spot here. If you are able to do so, focus on the rest of the way on driving very cleanly. You might notice that the slightest error could mean a loss of the top spot. There are two pretty tight turns near the final parts of the track, so be very careful of those. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = --- [ J-Speed Super One ] --- [GWE3]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vertex Prototype Championship [GWVP] ----------------------------- For the first look to establish an aggressive start and be in a good position early. The second race is pretty much the same as the first, except you'll be doing everything in reverse. As always, it's best to approach this a track that you are merely familiar with and not get into the habit of thinking, "the previous track had a right turn here so this has to be a left." I find that things could get kind of confusing that way. Anyway, the start of the track is a little dangerous for you so drive safely at first. You will have some opportunities to do some passing later. Once you reach the tunnel, you will be faced with a pretty sharp righ turn, so be ready for that. The rest of the way are just a few sudden turns and some zig-zag turns that you probably have dealt with before. The remaining two races are on the same track. A really important point in this track is the second turn. Look to get on the inside of this one because it is not too difficult. Another noteworthy corner is the one that comes up at about the halfway point. You should be able to take the inside of this one as well and use it to your advantage. The rest of the way are filled with a bunch of sharp turns, but they really aren't too difficult. Driftbox Championship [GWDB] --------------------- This is another drifting event on the Japan track, but you should know exactly what you have to do by now. You won't have to race against anyone, so that's always a plus. Your one and only focus is on pulling off big drifts, and you of course do that by upping your multiplier. There are a few unexpected turns, so always keep an eye on the map as you progress through this track. Volk GT Series [GWVG] -------------- For the first race, get to the inside part of the track early. All right, so the second race begins with the track veering off to the left for an extended period of time. The third track is going to test you early with a pretty sudden turn, so be ready for that. There are some pretty good areas to perform some passing manuevers coming up near the middle of the track. Watch out for the big looping area of the track, because this could be trouble if you are not ready. Try to maintain a high speed as you work your way through it. Try to also stay in the middle of the track as you go through the big loop. For the fourth track, there are a few tight turns near the very opening part of the track, so use those as oppotunities to do some passing. Be careful as you approach the big looping part of the track though, because it can be quite tricky. I would recommend going fairly slowly through the loop at first, but as you do it a few more times, you should be more confident accelerating and using it as a medium to do some passing. Head 2 Head [GWH9] ----------- I suppose you've been used to starting behind your opponents in a Head 2 Head race. That's going to be no different here. Just focus on keeping up with him at first, and wait for your opportunity to attack. As you approach the first corner in this race, it's time to make your move. Force your way to the inside of the track and make an aggressive turn. You should be able to overtake him here. If not, you have a few more turns coming up to attempt a passing move, so don't worry. There really aren't any major obstacles in this course, so use the turns to get ahead. Once you do get ahead, you know that it's time to focus on navigating the course cleanly. You might notice that your vehicle would slide quite a bit, and if that's the case you might just try and ride out the storm and do some drifting while you're at it. Remember, approach a turn normally and just as soon as you slide, accelerate towards the turn to promote the skid to get a nice little drift going and maintain some speed. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4d. Global License ] --- [GWNL]= =============================================================================== Brembo World GT [GWBG] --------------- The first track in this tournament is actually quite small. The second track is going to test you early with a pretty sudden turn, so be ready for that. There are some pretty good areas to perform some passing manuevers coming up near the middle of the track. Watch out for the big looping area of the track, because this could be trouble if you are not ready. Try to maintain a high speed as you work your way through it. Try to also stay in the middle of the track as you go through the big loop. For the third track, you should look to get off to a good start. The course is filled with a bunch of turns that really shouldn't pose too much of a problem for you at this stage of your life on the grid. One notable obstacle in this course is the right turn near the halfway point of the track. This one is kind of invisible to the naked eye so you'll have to keep your eye on the map. If it helps, it comes at roughly 30 second mark of the race. After you clear this, the rest of the track should be a cakewalk to the checkered flag. For the fourth race, look to be as aggressive as possible because there are plenty of opportunities for you to do so. For the fifth race, look to make your passing as you approach the first turn of the track. Navigate the next few turns of the track. Soon you will reach the point where you will have to turn left or continue going straight towards a wall. Remember to keep your eye on the map near the halfway point of the track to look out for such turn. After clearing this it should be smooth sailing towards the final part of the track. Once you make it here, you have to deal with the three consecutive tight turns, that could be pretty difficult. You should probably play it save here. Advan Drift International [GWAD] ------------------------- Here is another drifting race. You pretty much know how to handle these now, so I won't go into too much detail. Take the RX-7 out for a run if you can. Focus on running up your multiplier again. You'll be happy to know that you're the only one on this track, so you won't have to deal with anyone. One downside of the track is it is quite narrow, so you won't be as comfortable as you'd normally be on one of the Japanese tracks. It still shouldn't prove to be too much of a problem though. Philips World Championship [GWPW] -------------------------- You've been on the first track quite a bit before. As always, remember that the opening part of this track is very narrow. You won't have a lot of room to do much manuevering there, so stay patient. It is also full of tire stacks, and some of these come at a surprise just after some corners. If you decide to try any passing manuevers there, you'd be falling for the trap. Most of them are in the early part of the track. As you approach the middle section, it's time to plan your attack. A series of easy corners will present themselves, so use them to move up a few places. The final point of the track does have 2 "S" turns that you have to worry about, so be ready for those. All right, so the second race begins with the track veering off to the left for an extended period of time. Start the third race at a high speed to help you handle the damned Formula car a little bit. Try to maintain a high speed as you make your way through the wide turn near the opening part of the track. You should be able to, but it's going to take a bit of guts. There really aren't many other structural obstacles in this race, but the vehicle that your driving might make handling the turns a bit difficult. To minimize this, you need to go through the turns at a high speed. The fourth track in this tournament is actually quite small. Look to jump out to an aggressive start on the final track here. Bridgestone Challenge [GWBC] --------------------- Start by tapping the gas button instead of holding on to it because the opening part of the track requires quite a bit of manuevering. The second track in this tournament is actually quite small. You should look to approach your turns at a slightly slower speed. You will need to do so to maintain control of your vehicle. Start off the third race by immediately shifting to the inside part of the track. For the fourth and final track of the event, you don't really have to make many passing moves from my experience. Instead, focus more on clearing this track cleanly, and you will notice that you will be able to move up the ranks. You should also be careful because your vehicle doesn't have a lot of grip. However, if you want you might be able to pull off some drifting to maintain some momentum as you progress through the track. Kenwood Global Series [GWKG] --------------------- For the first track, watch out because the beginning part is actually quite narrow so don't be too impatient here. After that sharp left turn at the foot of the building, there are a few more small turns before you arrive at a hill. Accelerate up this hill as fast as you can but slow down while you approach the top of it, because there's one more fairly sharp right turn here. As you make your way down the hill though, you should consider slowing down a bit so your car doesn't stumble out of control on the jumps. It won't be long in this second race until you come across a pretty sharp turn, so be ready to execute. For the third race, look to be as aggressive as possible because there are plenty of opportunities for you to do so. The fourth track is going to test you early with a pretty sudden turn, so be ready for that. There are some pretty good areas to perform some passing manuevers coming up near the middle of the track. Watch out for the big looping area of the track, because this could be trouble if you are not ready. Try to maintain a high speed as you work your way through it. Try to also stay in the middle of the track as you go through the big loop. Be ready to accelerate every time you see the other drivers slow down, which is quite frequent in this race. The fifth track of this event puts you on the Okutama - Sprint Circuit, but going in the opposite direction. Castrol Prototype Series [GWCP] ------------------------ The first race is pretty small, so you can expect that there are going to be some tricky corners here. The laps are going to be over in a blink of an eye so you don't have much time to get ahead. Thankfully, you will have a few opportunities to make some good turns to improve your position. You should look to capitalize on your very first turn, veering to the left. Get into the inside part of the turn to get ahead of the pack and repeat until this track is over. Be careful as you approach the tunnels, because some tight turns lie ahead. The second track in the tournament is actually quite small. For the fourth track, you won't likely have to make many passing manuevers. It is especially unfavourable to try because of how narrow the track is. To finish well, you should focus on driving effectively and clearing the turns cleanly. If you keep doing this you will find that you will slowly move up the ranks. Though you if you really wanted, you should be able to make a move on the corners in the middle of the track. For the fifth race, accelerate straight down the pipe and you should soon come to a pretty sharp right turn. Head 2 Head [GWH0] ----------- For this final duel, do your best to get a perfect start. The opponent is going to jump off to a very good start as well and he will be ahead of you at first. Stay on your toes because once you reach the first zig-zag turn, you have also reached the first passing point of the track. Following this are a few sudden turns. You might be able to do some passing here, but all in all it is rather risky and it's pretty difficulty to pull it off successfully. Look to clear the straight path of this track at a high speed. Following the straight path is going to be a good second passing point, so look to definitely take the lead here if you couldn't do it on the first one. As you clear that previous corner, it's time to speed up your vehicle once more. You will be faced with two easy turns coming up. Clear these and make your way to the final part of the track. You may have had to slow down a bit on the second of the two turns though. The final section of the track has 5 turns that you have to deal with. You should be in the lead by now, but if not, these can be your final opportunities in the lap to do some passing. You can pretty much speed through those turns so attempting to better your position there would also be ideal. If you do have the lead, you have to focus on clearing the track cleanly to maintain it. You might also try blocking your opponent whenever possible. =============================================================================== = --- [ 4e. Le Mans 24 Hours ] --- [GW24]= =============================================================================== Basics [GWLB] ------ • You will be invited to participate in Le Mans 24 Hours at the end of each racing season • This race is not actually 24 hours, it is actually closer to 17 minutes • It's the largest track in the game, totaling to about 8 miles • It's a timed race, so there are no number of laps which you must complete. • Usually though, you finish around 3 laps on the allotted time. • The four classes of vehicles available to you are GT2, GT1, LMP2, LMP1 • You can skip the Le Mans 24 Hours race, but I wouldn't recommend it • At the end of the Le Mans race you will be shown two leaderboards, where you will be able to see the cash and reputation points you have amassed. Walkthrough [GWLW] ----------- Begin this race just like any other. This is a very long race so you will have plenty of opportunities to do some passing later. You will soon approach a small hill, and following that is a zig-zag turn. You should look to be aggressive and better your position here. After clearing that section, you will be faced with a series of sudden turns. Watch out for first left turn. It's best to slow down for that one. You can probably get away with speeding past the rest though. The next part of the track is going to be a straight path, and a long one at that. Slow down as you soon as you seen a tirestack. When you do see it, you will be introduced to another set of sudden turns. The zig-zag turn coming up here is another passing point for you. Use it to run up your position even more. Look to gain some speed as you head towards your next straight path. This one is a bit shorter, and waiting for you is another zig-zag turn at the end of it. Keep an eye on the mini-map so you know when it's coming. It's going to be pretty difficult to do some passing here. Speed up as you make your way past the next straight path. Waiting for you at the end of this one is probably the most dangerous turn of the track. Slow down early so your race doesn't end here. Don't try anything aggressive because the tire stack there prevents that. Another straight path after that turn. This one isn't that long again, and it won't be long until you have a pretty harmless turn to take care of. The left turn after this one is a pretty sharp one, so it's best to slow down and focus on clearing this one cleanly. The right turn after this one is another passing point, so get on the inside and better your position here. If you go on the grass a little bit, it shouldn't be end of the world. Following another decently long route, you will be faced with a series of five minor turns. They require you to veer more than turn, really. Look to go at a very high speed as you move past this area. The final section of the lap puts you on two pretty difficult zig-zag turns, and there won't be much room for manuevering here. Focus more on clearing it cleanly. For the reamaining laps, you should focus on taking the 1st position. Once you do so, defend your lead as usual by blocking cars whenever the opportunities present themselves. Most importantly though, you should focus on solid and clean driving to secure your lead. Your confidence should rise and by the third lap if you still aren't in the lead you should make a serious push for it. Good luck. =============================================================================== = --- [ 5.
