Assassin's Creed Odyssey Gain or Remove Bounty

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – How to Gain or Remove Bounty

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out this week, and while it does have some problems it’s still an excellent entry in the popular series. One of the game’s most interesting, or possibly more annoying, features is the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Bounty system. You make too much of a ruckus, and bounty hunters will be sent to kill you. It’s the Ancient Grecian equivalent of a ‘Wanted’ level, and there’ll be a similar system in Red Dead Redemption 2 according to the latest trailer. But how do you get rid of your Bounty level, or even gain it? We’ll show you how.

So you’ve done some bad things. It happens! If you’ve got the Bounty level up (if you haven’t turned it off it’ll be in the corner of the screen) you’ll see up to three red helmets. Each of these represents a bounty hunter, and how many are after you. You can kill the bounty hunter, sure, but then more will just come after you. So how do you drop or remove your level permanently?

The first is obvious: wait. If you stay out of sight your Bounty level will eventually drop down by itself, but that can take a while, and doesn’t help if there are three bounty hunters staking out one of your objectives. The second choice is just as simple but more costly: pay it off. Just go to your map screen, and if you have a bounty level there’ll be an option next to it saying ‘Pay Off Bounty’ along with a coin cost. It increases depending on how high your level is.

The third way to lower Bounty is the most fun: find and kill the person who put the bounty on your head in the first place. Go to your map, and look for a red symbol showing a knife through a bag. That’s a Bounty Sponsor. Head to it, use Ikaros to tag the Sponsor, then kill them. Be careful though, they’re usually in a fortified position.

Conversely, what if you want to gain bounty? It’s certainly a good way to attract bounty hunters to you and raise your Mercenary level. The best ways are just to cause trouble: kill civilians, destroy merchant vessels, steal things in full view of people, these types of things. However, if you really want to throw caution to the wind and rocket your Bounty level, head to a fort and get spotted. Let a soldier light a brazier, and bingo, your Bounty should have shot up a couple of levels! Just don’t bite off more than you can chew…
