Black Ops 4 Peeking Emotes – How to Peek With Emotes

It has been confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 peeking emotes will be appearing in Treyarch’s latest game. Although games like Fortnite and Overwatch include emotes as a fun cosmetic feature, emotes can give players a real competitive edge in Black Ops 4—especially in the highly-anticipated Blackout Battle Royale mode. This is because emotes can be used in order to peek around corners. Here’s a guide on how to peek with emotes in Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

Black Ops 4 Peeking Emotes – How to Peek With Emotes

In order to peek with emotes in Black Ops 4, all the player needs to do is use the emote close to a corner. Due to the fact that the game is played in first-person, the third-person angle that the camera switches to while emoting will reveal information that can’t be seen in first-person. Specifically, it will show the part of the screen that’s around the corner.

Although this makes players vulnerable, in that emotes can’t be canceled after the animation starts, this can be used to great effect if used properly. If a player is guaranteed to be safe in the position that they’re in, they can be fed extra information about their surroundings by emoting in the right places at the right times. The emotes may seem like a bit of goofy fun at first, but they’re actually a mechanic that can be exploited to great effect in the final moments of a tense round of Blackout.

As a result of this, emotes will likely need to be disabled for Competitive Call of Duty matches, as they were in Destiny. It defeats the purpose of a competitive FPS if players can use third-person camera angles to their advantage.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 releases for Xbox One, PS4, and PC tomorrow, October 12.
