The Fortnite 6.22 update patch notes (Fortnite 1.91 update patch notes PS4) have been unleashed by Epic Games, ready for players to read during the usual downtime period. Yep, this patch does indeed force players to wait until scheduled maintenance has concluded. This usually takes about an hour, during which matchmaking will be halted. Last week’s patch added Balloons to the game, while also making tweaks to various tools including the Grappler. This new Fortnite patch 6.22 update adds another new weapon: the Heavy Assault Rifle. In addition to the new gun, the update also introduces the Team Terror limited time mode, NFL skins for players to buy, Fortnitemares Part 2 for Save the World, and more. Let’s dive deep into those patch notes!
Fortnite 6.22 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.91 PS4) – Heavy Assault Rifle
Easily the main attraction of the Fortnite 6.22 update (1.91) for Battle Royale players is the new Heavy Assault Rifle. This weapon is available in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants, and packs 44, 46, 48 damage, respectively. It can be found in floor loot, chests, Vending Machines, and Supply Drops. With a fire rate of 3.75 and a magazine size of just 25, players will want to be consistent with landing shots on target. The high damage is only worthwhile if you can actually hit the enemy!
As is the case with all new weapons, we’ll have to wait and see how the community utilizes the new tool of destruction. While internal testing is useful for getting an idea of balance, we won’t really know how good the Heavy AR is until the millions of Fortnite players get their hands on it. I foresee a lot of angry community members disliking the high damage output, but that’s just my speculation!
As Halloween has come to an end, the Pumpkin Launcher has returned to its regular Rocket Launcher state. What’s more, the recently introduced balloons have had their spawn rate nerfed, dropped from 12.2% to just 2.3%. These will be a lot less common on the battlefield!
Fortnite 6.22 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.91 PS4) – Team Terror Limited Time Mode
The Team Terror limited time mode has also been introduced with the Fortnite 6.22 update (1.91). This mode makes use of the controversial Cube Monsters, with two teams of 32 battling it out to be the last team standing. To make the usual big team formula more interesting, the Cube Monsters have been added to give players the chance to score special weaponry.
Monster spawners are located throughout the map. Head to a spawn and kill the beasts to earn weapons or ammo. If you spot a gold monster or monster spawner, focus your file upon it, as those drop Legendary items when destroyed.
To help speed up the process of getting geared up and ready for battle, farming resources have been increased by 75 percent. Floor loot spawn likelihood has been slightly bumped up with a 15 percent increase. What’s more, floor loot spawns double ammo, while ammo boxes spawn triple ammo. If you find a chest, grab it for double ammo and consumables. Finally, open a Supply Drop for double ammo and extra consumables, resource drops, and traps.
Fortnite 6.22 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.91 PS4) – Blitz Limited Time Mode
In addition to the new Team Terror game type, the Blitz limited time mode has also made its return. For the uninitiated, this mode basically takes the usual Battle Royale formula and speeds it up. The storm is already moving at the beginning of a map, meaning players are more tightly packed into a smaller drop zone. This makes encounters much more frequent. Matches also tend to last a shorter amount of time, with the maximum length being 15 minutes.
Other changes can be found below, which mostly consist of increased drop rates for loot and other resources. You’ll be armed and ready in no time!
- The storm is already moving in at the beginning of the match, choose your landing spot carefully!
- Wait time between storms is significantly shorter than usual; maximum match length is 15 minutes.
- Increased chances of treasure chests spawning from 50-70% to 80-90%.
- Increased chances of ammo boxes spawning from 65-80% to 85-95%.
- Reduced empty floor loot spawn chance from 21.5% to 3.55%
- Resource harvesting amounts increased by 50%.
- Increased materials found on the ground from 30 to 60 per instance.
- Increased number, spawn rate & the descent speed of Supply Drops.
- Increased number of llamas spawned by 4x.
- Removed shopping carts.
Fortnite 6.22 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.91 PS4) – NFL Skins

Fortnite 6.22 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.91 PS4) – Fortnitemares Part 2
Save the World players are also getting some love with the Fortnite 6.22 update (1.91). Fortnitemares Part 2 quests are now available. This continues the storyline of Hexsylvania, comprising of the Vlad miniboss and the final fight to put him to rest.
New Heroes include the Werewolf Dire, a new Mythic Ninja. This Ninja becomes more fearsome and energetic at night, and will become available in the Event Store on November 7 at 7 PM ET.

- Phase Siphon – Phase Shifting through enemies deals 11 base damage and heals 6 base health.
