Smash Ultimate Mii Fighters – Are Mii Fighters in the Game?

Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s release is finally upon us, and Nintendo fans couldn’t be more excited for this latest installment in the series. There’s 74 playable characters to choose from, but are Mii Fighters present in Smash Ultimate like they were in other entries? Here’s the lowdown on if Mii Fighters are present or not in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

What Are Smash Ultimate Mii Fighters?

Mii Fighters are playable characters in the Super Smash Bros. series. There are three types of characters you can choose from – Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner. Brawler is your typical “punch and kick” melee character, Swordfighter attacks with, well, swords, and the Gunner is a ranged type of fighter who uses an arm-mounted cannon like Samus Aran’s in the Metroid franchise.

Each member of the trio has their own characteristic style of fighting, strengths, and weaknesses, just like any other Super Smash Bros. character. Each one has its own preset weight value too, with Gunners being the heaviest and Brawlers being the lightest.

Are Mii Fighters in Smash Ultimate?

They certainly are. They were announced back in June 2018 by Smash Ultimate head Masahiro Sakurai, and make their return after they featured in Super Smash Bros. 4 for the Wii U and 3DS.

Each Mii fighter now has its own spot in the character selection screen, too, which is a big change from the shared slot they had in Smash 4. This means that they are listed in the character selection area as fighter #51, #52, and #53 respectively.

The game’s announcer also now describes each one individually—Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner—instead of just announcing “Mii Fighter” like before. Unlike previous Smash entries, however, Smash Ultimate Mii fighters’ height and weight cannot be customized. Their voice clips can be, though, with players able to select one of 12 different voice clips to use for each of these characters.
