Fallout 76 free games – how to claim the Fallout Classic Collection

Fallout 76 has had a bit of a rough launch, and to thank players for picking up and sticking with the game, Bethesda announced back in December that it would be giving free games to anyone who owned Fallout 76 and had played it at any point in 2018. Now these Fallout 76 free games are available, but what are they? How do you claim them? Are they available on all platforms? We’ve got the answers.

What are the Fallout 76 Free Games?

The Fallout 76 free games were promised to anyone who bought Fallout 76 and had logged any time at all during 2018, so if you picked it up in a holiday sale and only started playing it this month you presumably will not get the games.

The games are the Fallout Classic Collection, which includes the first three games in the Fallout series: Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. Fallout 1 was released in 1997, Fallout 2 in 1998, and Fallout Tactics in 2001. They’re all good games, but will seem pretty tough to anyone who’s only played the series from Fallout 3 onward.

How to Claim the Free Fallout Classic Collection

While the offer was available to anyone who played Fallout 76 on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, the Fallout Classic Collection games are only available on PC. To claim your free copies of these classic Fallout titles, you’ll need to download them using the Bethesda.net launcher. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to claim your games:

  1. Download and install the Bethesda.net launcher. You can get it from here. Run the setup when it downloads.
  2. Sign in to the launcher with your Bethesda account, using the same account name and password that you’ve been using to play Fallout 76. If you’ve been playing the game on PC, you’ve probably done these first two steps already.
  3. Go the the “Games” menu on the left side of the Bethesda.net launcher. You may need to click the double arrow symbol at the top for “All Games.” You’ll see all three classic Fallout titles listed with “Not Installed” underneath them. Click on each, and then click the install button. They’ll be small in size, so should download quickly.
  4. Play!
