Can I buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 separate from the season pass?

The Life is Strange 2 season pass is currently for sale but some players who don’t have it may be running into some issues with the second episode. That second episode is not showing up for those who don’t have the season pass, essentially showing that the episodic game can’t be purchased episodically. So can you buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 without the season pass? Or can you buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 separate from the season pass?

Can I buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 separate from the season pass?

It does not look like you can currently buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 separately. It does not show up on the Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Store, or Steam. Players will be greeted with the first episode as well as a bundle for the latter four episodes. The PlayStation Store specifically says this when players try to buy the second episode on the web store: “You are not able to purchase this product for the following reason(s): You have not purchased Life is Strange 2 Season Pass.” Steam shows players a similar message.

The first episode is $7.99, the season pass for the rest of the episodes is $32.99, and the whole thing is $39.99. But nowhere is the second episode listed individually. This isn’t great news for those that want to buy the season as each episode comes out.

Will I be able to buy Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 separately in the future?

It is unclear whether or not this will continue for the rest of the season and if Square Enix will bar people from buying individual episodes down the road. A user on Twitter asked the official Life is Strange Twitter account that exact question and was met with no reply. The official Dontnod Twitter account has been similarly silent.

The first season did not release like this as every installment was made available for purchase individually upon launch. Telltale released its games in a similar fashion as well. Given how the second, third, fourth, and fifth episodes are bundled together in the store, it might mean that this will be the only way players can buy the game in the near future.
