The Rescuers Go Under treasure hunt in Far Car New Dawn takes you into the treacherous caves of Hope County in search of booty. This is one of the more elaborate treasure hunts in Far Cry New Dawn and has some tricky parts, especially when you have to release the brake on a car. We’ll show you how to get through the Far Cry New Dawn Rescuers Go Under treasure hunt and release the parking brake on the car.
How to make it through the caves in the Far Cry New Dawn Rescuers Go Under treasure hunt
When you arrive at the treasure hunt location, you’ll find a note in a strong box near a wrecked truck. The letter gives you a bit of a rundown on the situation that occurred here and where you’ll need to go to find the treasure:
Rescuer Note
Brian radioed in and said that he fell into a sinkhole at the top of the falls. He sounded hurt.
We couldn’t wait for you, so a bunch of us went in ahead. Follow our trail and grapple up the cliffs. The caves around here get flooded easily, so you’ll probably have to swim.
Get in and hurry. Brian’s counting on us to reach him as fast as we can.
Before you can continue on this treasure hunt, you need to make sure you’ve unlocked the grapple perk. You’ll need to use it extensively here.
If you look up the cliff face after reading the note, you’ll see an icon indicating you can grapple up. Once you make it up to the ledge, look towards the waterfall and then up to find another grapple spot. Here you can look up again to see yet another place you can grapple to. Do the same thing again to make it to the top of the cliff.
After you reach the top, you’ll see a big hole in front of you leading down into a cave system. Be cautious here. When I explored this area, two Grizzly Bears spawned, and I had to kill them before I descended underground.
The bottom of the crevasse is flooded, so to proceed further you’ll need to swim. Plunge into the water and dive down and swim through the passage. You can make it through here even without the perk that allows you to spend more time underwater.
Once you surface, you’ll need to grapple up a cliff face once again to proceed. Before you go, though, check out the note on the nearby bedroll for more of the story behind the rescue mission here:
Campsite Note
Still a long way to go. This cave system’s bigger than we thought and on top of that it’s flooded and unstable.
Brian sounded worse in his last call. We’re losing too much time adding more grapple points to get further in.
Once you’ve grappled to the top of the cliff, keep heading further in, and you’ll eventually reach more water. Swim through, and you’ll reach an area you can grapple across that leads to another narrow passage. Shortly after entering the corridor, the floor will crumble and drop you into a water-filled cavern below.
How to release the car brake in the Rescuers Go Under treasure hunt in Far Cry New Dawn
When you surface, you’ll find yourself in another cavern filled with water. You’ll see a rusty truck ahead of you. Swim past it and under the car pinned between the rocks. You’ll see a ledge with a rope hanging off it, but it’s too high to jump to, and you can’t grapple up to it either.
Turn around and climb up the smaller rockface with the rope hanging off of it. Here you’ll find a note cluing you in on what to do next:
Rescuer Note
Looks like a sinkhole’s claimed other unlucky cars over the years.
We managed to release the brakes on some of them to move them into a position where we could jump to the next cave.
Brian’s gone radio silent. I hope we’re not too late.
Your big clue is the reference to cars. Across the gap, there just so happens to be a vehicle you can hop over to. Here’s the tricky part: you have you release the brake so the car can fall into the water and make a platform for you to jump over.
To release the brake, you need to stand near the passenger side rear tire. When you do so, you’ll get a prompt to “Release Brakes.” Do so, and the car will roll down and fall into the water.
Now, you can use the car as a stepping stone to the other side.
Far Cry New Dawn Rescuers Go Under rewards
Once you use the car to jump over to the other side, you’ll enter a wide cavern. Here you’ll find the typical treasure hunt fare. There’s three perk magazines, miscellaneous crafting supplies, and 45 Far Cry Credits.
You’ll also find a note cluing you in on Brian’s final fate:
Memorial Note
Here lies Brian father and friend. You deserve a better grave than this.
I’m sorry that we failed you.
Rest in peace.
Near the note, on a pillow (or maybe a sack) you’ll find a tape recorder where one of the rescuers talks about what happened in the cave.
