Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition | Pre-order bonuses and DLC

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order has finally been properly revealed after nearly a year’s worth of teasing, and it’ll be out this November for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It will obviously get a Standard Edition with the basic game included, but what about anything extra? It has now be announced, rather under-the-radar in fact, that there will indeed be a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition for fans to look forward to.

The Deluxe Edition will be out in December and is available to pre-order now, but what’s in it? Is there any benefit to pre-ordering, such as pre-order bonuses or DLC? Is there any new story content DLC coming, or is all this just about cosmetics? Will there be a season pass of some sort? How about tie-ins for the other big Star Wars projects out at the end of the year, such as The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, or The Clone Wars Season 7? Let’s have a look.

What’s in the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition?

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition

The Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition is available to pre-order now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via EA’s Origin, and while the standard edition is $59.99/£54.99 the Deluxe Edition is naturally more expensive at $69.99/£59.99. But what do you actually get if you shell out for the most costly edition? The Origin store has a little information about the Deluxe Edition, but the details are still a bit vague.

Basically, the Deluxe Edition will include a supposed “Director’s Cut” of content, including behind-the-scenes features on the making of the game. Other than that, it says “content” but doesn’t go into detail on what that content might be. It will, however, include “additional unique cosmetic equipment” for the main game, which could take the form of character outfits for Cal, lightsaber customization, or skins for your droid pal BD-1. Hopefully there will be more information soon on these, so we get some actual detail. It will include the pre-order bonus content however, so what is that?

What Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order pre-order bonus DLC is there?

The Deluxe Edition will contain all pre-order content, but just what is that? What bonus DLC is available if you pre-order Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order? Well, much like the Deluxe Edition content, the various pre-order sites are a little thin on specifics right now. All Origin mentions is “unique cosmetic equipment” for Cal’s lightsaber and his droid companion BD-1. Whether that means being able to change the lightsaber’s color, turn BD-1 into a different droid from elsewhere in the saga, or whether it’s something more interesting, we don’t know yet.

Will there be extra story content or just cosmetics?

It looks like the pre-order bonus DLC content will be entirely cosmetic, and not even for main character Cal himself. The Deluxe Edition content, however, is a little more sketchy. It specifically mentions “Director’s Cut content,” which suggests there may be extra story missions that provide additional scenes for the game. That’s what a director’s cut is. On the other hand, it mostly refers to behind-the-scenes features, so may just be featurettes, videos, concept art, and nothing additiona for the game itself.

Will there be a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Season Pass?

One thing is for sure: Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will be single-player only, no multiplayer. EA has also confirmed that there’ll be no microtransactions or loot boxes in the game either, and these things will never be added in. This seemingly conflicts with EA’s mandate that all of its games should be long-running live service games, but it’s possible that Respawn will keep the game running in other ways. The most obvious way is through DLC, especially story expansions, which would probably mean a Season Pass of some sort. As the Deluxe Edition content doesn’t mention it, however, we’re going to say that it’s probably unlikely. There may be DLC, but it doesn’t look like there’ll be a Season Pass.

Will there be any tie-in with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?

Of course, the biggest Star Wars release coming this winter, if not the biggest release of the year full stop, will be Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. The movie just got its full title and trailer over the weekend, the day before the proper reveal of Jedi Fallen Order. The movie’s the final part of the Disney “Sequel Trilogy” that began with The Force Awakens, and is being advertised as the full finale to the Skywalker saga. Quite a big deal, is what we’re saying, and it’s bound to affect any Star Wars product positioned around it. Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 both got tie-in DLC for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, so with the game out just a month before, surely Jedi Fallen Order will see some sort of tie-in with The Rise of Skywalker? It’s possible, but if so, it will probably be cosmetic.

Will there be any tie-in with The Mandalorian or The Clone Wars?

The other two big Star Wars releases in Winter 2019 are the Disney Plus shows: The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars show from Iron Man director Jon Favreau, and Season 7 of The Clone Wars. These will release in November, alongside Jedi Fallen Order. Once again though, if there are any tie-ins with the game, they’ll probably be purely cosmetic. If there are any tie-ins for any of these things, they’ll probably be with Star Wars Battlefront 2.
