The Apex Legends 1.08 update patch notes are not quite out yet but it seems as though players are running into some issues. Be it cries of broken heroes or just plain bugginess, it appears as though this Apex Legends 1.08 update may need an update itself. This issue is also just happening with the PS4 and seems to be linked with Lifeline.
The actual patch notes state that it adds “stability improvements and bug fixes.” However, some players are saying that they can’t get into a match or that the Lifeline hero is broken and breaks or crashes the entire game.
“We are aware of the crashing reports on PS4 since downloading the update today. For some context, this patch was only meant to update the PS+ skin rewards in the Playstation Store, no changes were made to the game and this was pushed on Playstation 4 only. We’ll provide updates here as we investigate what’s causing the issue.”
Someone else from Respawn also had a response:
“Thank you. I’ll pass that along to folks as we try and reproduce. If you folks see anything specific [like the banner type and name] that look to trigger the crash please let us know.”
Again, it seems tied to Lifeline and her banners and if anyone picks her, the game crashes. So it’s possible to play a match, but choosing that specific healer will make things go haywire. And since it is only a PS4 issue meant to “update the PS+ skin rewards,” this will only affect PS4 players.
Given the issues, it’s probably a better idea to play something else in the interim until Respawn fixes this issue. We don’t know when that is (and, frankly, Respawn probably does not know either) but hopefully it is soon.
