Just recently announced, the Yakuza Remastered Collection will bring Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remastered to the west in 1080p resolution and 60 fps. With Yakuza 3 available right now on PS4 and the other two to follow in the coming months, can you purchase these games separately?

Can you buy Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remastered separately?

To put it simply, no. You have to purchase the whole Yakuza Remastered Collection if you want to play Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 remastered. If you type in “Yakuza 3” or any of the other titles into the PlayStation Store search, you are brought to results that pertain to the original PS3 versions of the games. If you own a PS3, you can purchase Yakuza 4 and 5 for $19.99 and $29.99 respectively. For Yakuza 3, you will need to hunt down a disc version if you want to play it on your PS3.

If you wanted to purchase any of the games from the Yakuza Remastered Collection separately because this is your first time with the series and you don’t want to commit to a whole collection, there are better entries in the series to begin that journey. In fact, as of this writing, Yakuza 0 is only $11.99 on the PlayStation Store and that sale will last until September 3 at 8 AM PT. While this entry was released fairly recently, it is a prequel to the first game and is a good introduction to series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and other characters you will see throughout the series.

Yakuza Kiwami, an HD remake of the 2005 PS2 game, is also available on the PlayStation Store. At the time of this writing, it is a bit more than Yakuza 0 with a price of $19.99. However, this is the first game in the series and would also be a good starting point for those unfamiliar with the franchise.

It should also be noted that the versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 in the Yakuza Remastered Collection has “repolished” localization, as well as content that was cut from the original Western releases, including hostess bars and Japan-centric trivia.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection is available to purchase right now with Yakuza 3 the only game currently playable. Yakuza 4 and 5 will be available to play on October 29, 2019, and February 11, 2020, respectively.
