Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum Card Balance Changes

Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum Card Balance Changes | Mage, Warrior, Priest, and Neutral card changes

Blizzard Entertainment announced there would be some Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card balance changes in the next update. While there are only a few cards receiving changes, they will affect the game quite dramatically as they helped players craft some powerful decks. This guide will go through each of the changes posted by the developer, as well as when you can expect them to be implemented.

Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum Card Balance Changes | What cards will be changed?

Saying the cards are being changed, in this case, is the nice way of saying Blizzard Entertainment is nerfing cards because people have found ways to make incredibly powerful decks. In the post by the developer, these changes will help create a better ladder experience. There are a total of five cards receiving balance changes and will affect Mage, Warrior, and Priest classes.

Mage

The first of the Mage cards receiving changes is “Conjurer’s Calling.” The card currently costs three mana and reads, “Twinspell, Destroy a minion. Summon two minions of the same Cost to replace it.” This card was being used with decks that used cards like Mountain Giant and Sea Giant which allowed players to take control of the board too early. Now, the cost of “Conjurer’s Calling will be four. This delays Twinspell long enough for the opponent against the Mage to potentially counter the situation.

“Luna’s Pocket Galaxy” is the second Mage card receiving changes. This card currently costs five mana and reads, “Change the Cost of minions in your deck to (1).” Similarly to “Conjurer’s Calling,” this allowed players to take control of the board earlier than anticipated. This card will now cost seven to play, reverting back to its original mana cost from before the Rise of the Mech event.

Warrior

The only Warrior card receiving changes is “Dr. Boom, Mad Genius.” Currently costing seven mana to play, it reads, “Battlecry: For the rest of the game, your Mechs have Rush.” For those who don’t know, Rush is a keyword ability that allows minions to attack right when they’re played rather than waiting an entire turn. This is different than Charge as it only allows the summoned minion to attack other minions, not heroes.

“Dr. Boom, Mad Genius,” will now cost nine mana to summon. The card will still be used to help finish off opponents in the late game, however, it will now allow the opponent to react to what could be a game-ending turn.

Priest

The Priest class will also only have one card receiving a balance change. Currently, “Extra Arms” costs only two mana and reads, “Give a minion +2/+2. Add ‘More Arms!’ to your hand that gives +2/+2.” The current cost of the card was implemented during the Rise of the Mech event to make Priest’s a more viable class. However, with Saviors of Uldum‘s release, Priests are very effective in the early game thanks to their buff spells and healing effects.

“Extra Arms” will jump to three mana when the update hits. This will allow Priests to still create affective combos fairly early in the game but allow opponents to potentially counter it.

Neutral

The last card receiving changes is the Neutral card “Barnes.” It currently costs four mana and reads, “Battlecry: Summon a 1/1 copy of a random minion in your deck.” This particular change is aimed at Wild format, as it dominates the early games, especially in Priest decks.

“Barnes” will now cost five mana instead of four. Like almost all the changes, this allows for the opponent to react but still allows the user to summon specific minions.

Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum Card Balance Changes | When can you expect these changes

The update that will have the Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card balance changes will release on August 26, 2019. As of this writing, these card adjustments are the only changes happening in the upcoming update. Until then, if you are a Priest, Warrior, or Mage that currently uses these cards, it may be a good time to adjust your decks.
