Upon arriving on the Deserted Island, players will be given two items courtesy of Nook Inc., a tent and a NookPhone. Your tent will serve as your home, while your NookPhone will act as your crafting hub. The cellphone will have a variety of apps downloaded on it that will help you with crafting, as well as other features like taking pictures.

One app that will be extremely useful in Animal Crossing: New Horizons crafting is the recipes app. As you can imagine, you’ll need a lot of tools and materials to make the Deserted Island feel like home. From the recipes app, you’ll see a mega list of all sorts of craftable items like tools, furniture, living materials, and a whole lot more. The recipes app will also tell you everything that you’ll need to make specific items, so you won’t have to flip around different apps to figure out what you’re looking for.

You can find the items you need for the various recipes by exploring around the island, hunting down things like tree branches, stone, clay, and much more. Once you’ve gathered up everything you need, you can head to the Resident Services tent to use the workbench and craft your desired items. As with most games, you’ll be able to use the new tools that you’re crafting to get better materials, which will lead to more advanced tools. Resident Services will also sell players items, as well as buy things that that you have collected and don’t want. They’ll even buy weeds as a thank you for keeping the island clean.

If you choose to make some decorative items, you’ll be able to shift, rotate, and rearrange all you want. No item you place will be locked into one specific location, allowing you to change you the scenery whenever you feel like it. Additionally, as you progress through the game, you’ll be able to craft even nicer items to make your tent and camp feel even more like home.
