If you’re a big fan of previous Gears of War games, you’ll likely have a selection of characters that you like to play as. Despite the series evolving to become much different than the 2006 game that started it all, most new Gears of War titles bring back many of the older skins, either through on-disk content or as DLC. Gears 5 is doing things a little differently.

With its Operations, Gears 5 is rolling out new content every month or so, and that new content will feature characters. The first character is going to be Dave Bautista, known for his wrestling career and playing the role of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy

Other new characters can be accessed by those who own the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition. Additional characters include two Halo spartans, and also Sarah Connor and a Terminator machine from the upcoming Dark Fate movie.

It should be noted that, unlike characters in previous games, the soldiers featured in Gears 5 all come with their own unique skills, which can be utilized in Arcade Deathmatch, Horde, and Escape. Developing a new character will require careful consideration of balance, so it may take some time before we see a new face.

Expect to see more characters added as the game receives additional post-launch support and content, which the developer has promised to keep coming on a regular basis.
