Many players are wondering how to get a Concord refund after Firewalk Studios announced that the game will be shutting down on PS5 and PC on September 6. The $40 hero shooter struggled with low player numbers since its launch in late August. As such, the PlayStation-published action game will be going offline as the developer figures out how to move forward. Here’s what you need to do to get a refund for Concord if you purchased the game on Playstation or PC platforms via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Concord refund instructions explained
Most players will not need to do anything to get a refund for Concord, as they will be issued one automatically “over the coming days,” according to a PlayStation blog from Firewalk Studios.
Those who purchased the game from the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct on PS5 will be issued a refund to their original payment method. It should be noted, though, that it will take 30 to 60 days before players will see a refund on their bank statement. If the original payment method is unavailable, then the purchase amount will be refunded to the user’s PSN wallet.
Anyone who bought Concord on Steam or Epic Games Store will be issued a refund for the game through the storefront. Both Steam and Epic Game Store will be reaching out to each player, likely via email, to confirm that the refund is processed. Hopefully, it won’t take as long as a month to receive a refund from these two storefronts.
However, if you purchased a physical copy of the game at a retailer like GameStop, Target, or Walmart, you’ll need to get a refund through their policies instead.
Once a refund has been issued, the player will no longer have access to the game.
Concord game director Ryan Ellis admits that the game’s “initial launch didn’t land the way” the studio intended. After the game shuts down, the studio will “explore options” to determine how best to proceed.
It’s unclear if Concord will be discontinued, despite being in development for eight years, or if it will switch to a free-to-play model. The first season of Concord was supposed to launch in October 2024 and come with a new character, map, and cosmetics through an in-game store.
