The FF7 Rebirth Thorin’s Card Shop is one of the first buildings that you’ll encounter in the Grasslands region in Chapter 2. Walking down the stone path from Kalm, you’ll find this card store on the left. But trying to open the door, you’ll find that it is locked and the game doesn’t tell you how to unlock it or gain access to the shop. Wandering around the area doesn’t help either as there’s no key or note anywhere. To dispel the confusion, here’s how to unlock the Thorin Card Shop in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for PS5.
How to unlock FF7 Rebirth Thorin’s Card Shop
To unlock the Thorin’s Card Shop in FF7 Rebirth, you need to complete the side quest in Kalm called A Rare Card Lost.
That said, getting access to this side quest in the first place takes a bit of work. In Chapter 2, Cloud and the rest of the party need to flee Kalm as Shinra troopers close in on their position. While this is great for getting you to explore the open world, the game doesn’t tell you when you can go back. You actually need to reach Bill’s Chocobo Ranch as part of the main campaign in Chapter 2 before you can return to Kalm.
Once that happens, you can head to the bar in Kalm (or the noticeboard to find the location of the bar) and speak with the bartender to begin the A Rare Card Lost quest. You will need to defeat one player at Queen’s Blood first before you get the chance to face off against Thorin at his shop. At that point, you finally gain access to the Thorin’s Card Shop where you challenge Thorin in a head-to-head match.
Before or after challenging him, you can also speak with Thorin to purchase the Fat Chocobo and Titan cards. The Titan card specifically is an amazing card that allows you to place high-level cards on the board. Later in the game and the post-game, you can purchase additional booster packs and special cards from him, specifically the Gilgamesh card and QB Booster Pack Ancient Stewards, Chthoric Sentinels, The Turks, and Endgame Baddies.
