Gamers across the globe have been wondering if Death Stranding will release on the Nintendo Switch. Assuming it will, what could be the Death Stranding Switch release date? Death Stranding Switch Release Date | Is it coming to Switch?

Death Stranding Switch release date

For now, there are no plans to bring Death Stranding to the Nintendo Switch. The latest video game from Kojima Productions has launched as a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 4, and the developers have not given any indication that it will release for Nintendo’s hybrid handheld. However, that isn’t to say the game will only ever be made available on Sony’s console.

So far, Death Stranding has only announced for two separate platforms: The PlayStation 4 and PC. Kojima Productions confirmed that the game would be coming to PC in a tweet posted on October 28, with the game’s Steam page appearing online not too long afterward.

Still, given that the game will only be hitting personal computers next summer, players are left wondering if the newest Kojima release will ever make its way over to the Nintendo Switch. While we’re inclined to never say never, it’s looking very unlikely that the game will ever release for the Switch.

Here’s why: Like many modern triple-A video games, Death Stranding requires a fair amount of machine power to run—perhaps more than the Nintendo Switch is capable of. But more important than that is the fact that very few Kojima games have released directly for Nintendo consoles: The original Metal Gear was released for the NES in 1987, and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes released as a GameCube exclusive in 2004. Beyond that, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake hit the Wii Virtual Console in 2010, nearly 20 years after its initial release in 1990.

Death Stranding Switch Release Date

Considering that no Death Stranding Nintendo Switch release has been announced, no Switch release date for the game has yet been confirmed. It’s very likely that Death Stranding will never be ported to the Nintendo Switch, but given the history between Nintendo and Kojima, it’s safe to say it’s possible, if unlikely.

Sorry folks: There’s nothing to suggest that Kojima Productions will release Death Stranding for the Nintendo Switch. Even if it’s technically possible, a Switch port of Death Stranding would take a considerable amount of effort to pull off. Until such time as the developers announce plans for a Switch port of the game, players will need to pick up Death Stranding for either PC or the PlayStation 4.
