The Nioh 2 Yatsu-no-Kami would not bode well for Indiana Jones as it is a snake with other tiny snakes as arms. That’s just horrible no matter how you slice it. But if you’re have trouble slicing this awfully snakey snake, then here are some tips on how to beat Yatsu-no-Kami in Nioh 2 which is also known as the Nioh 2 snake boss.
Nioh 2 Yatsu-no-Kami | How to beat
Yatsu-no-Kami is tricky but still follows many of the same rules as the other bosses so it is worth it to run through these tips before you start. Yatsu-no-Kami is weak to lightning so be sure to load up some related Ninjutsu or Onmyo magic items before you enter. It’s also resistant to water, corruption, and poison. Its weak spot is also its head. However, given how the camera jerks around when you lock onto its head, lock onto its body. This will make some attacks way easier to avoid.

Yatsu-no-Kami starts off the battle the same way each time: charging at you. Sidestep to a side and wail on its head for a few hits. But before we get into its general attacks, its arms are worth breaking down first. They have their own health meters and will separate from the host when Yatsu-no-Kami activates the Yokai realm. This is bad news as it’ll mean three things attacking you when you are at your weakest.
To stop this, make sure to focus on attacking one of its arms to kill it and then weaken the other arm after. Do this by favoring your attacks on one of its sides. One of the arms will likely still be alive when it goes into the Yokai realm so use a Yokai attack on it to quickly kill it as it is too hectic and dangerous to avoid multiple enemies at once in this fight.
Once you manage this correctly, Yatsu-no-Kami has many tells that are easy to react to. When it puts its head down on the ground like a dog waiting for you to throw the ball, block. This is a huge move where it slams its whole body down. Block and get some hits in.
When it quickly opens its mouth, its going to jab its arms at you three times. Block these and get another few hits in. It’ll also do a quick shimmy and then swing its whole body around, which you should also block before getting a couple swings in.
Its first Burst Attack is a slam on the ground with an enormous hit box. You could dodge it, but it takes some tricky timing. Instead, as always, perform a Burst Counter as soon as you see it flash red. If it misses you, lock onto its head and give it a few slices. The second Burst Attack is a dash attack where it just slithers around and pokes you with its horn nose. It’ll bounce around if it hits a wall. This one takes tricky timing to counter, but it’s worth it to learn the timing, which is a little easier if you back up first. If not, you can just slice its body after you dodge.
The grab move, however, is much more deadly. You can obviously dodge it, but that is going to be way harder if you’re up close. Always keep a bit of distance just in case as this move is utterly devastating.
When it puts its arms into the ground, just keep moving. Don’t block unless you absolutely have to as it’ll likely break your guard and leave a ton of arm damage on the table. You also don’t even need to dodge. Both snake arms will come out the ground and, since they’ll miss you as you move forward, go to the main body and slash the arms a bunch of times. This is the best way to do damage to the arms.
The ranged attack shoots a bunch of needles at you. Just dodge laterally. Be patient and this boss shouldn’t be too hard.
