Numerous leaks and rumors have been pointing towards the impending release of a  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) battle royale mode for a while now, and finally, Activision and Infinity Ward have put us all out of our misery with the official reveal of Call of Duty: Warzone. Available as a Modern Warfare add-on or completely free-to-play as a standalone download, one of the main questions on players’ minds is whether or not Call of Duty: Warzone Nukes are a thing.

In this guide, we’ll let you know whether or not you can expect to devastate 150-player battle royale matches through the use of Tactical Nukes.

Are there Nukes in Call of Duty: Warzone?

Nuclear bombs have long been a favorite amongst CoD devotees for their unparalleled destructive power. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, developer Infinity Ward changed how they work slightly, though fans were nonetheless pleased to see them make a return. The reality where Call of Duty: Warzone is concerned, however, appears to be less crowd-pleasing.

When asked “Are you able to get a nuke in WARZONE?” on Twitter, leading Call of Duty news provider Charlie INTEL (@charlieINTEL) replied with the following:

Seemingly, Infinity Ward has confirmed that CoD: Warzone will not feature Nukes. Realistically, this news isn’t all that surprising. In Modern Warfare a Nuke is earned when a player achieves a kill streak of 30, which is exceedingly rare, though will potentially be less so in the massive 150-player battles found within Warzone. The unlock requirement could be tweaked, sure, though a mechanic that allows for wiping out swathes of players and instantly ending a lengthy battle royale match likely wouldn’t be welcomed, no matter which way you cut it.

The Nuke’s function could also be changed, but that’d only spoil the inherent fun of calling in the game-ending WMD. For now, it appears as though the chosen solution is to simply remove Nukes form Call of Duty: Warzone.
