To play Animal Crossing: New Horizons co-op, either locally (wireless play on multiple Switch consoles) or online, you will need to head on over to Dodo Airlines. Where this will be on your island should be different for everyone, but along the coast somewhere. Dodo Airlines is the place you were first brought to when you arrived on your deserted island. Speak to Orville at the desk to begin your local or online multiplayer session.

  • Invite players to your island with a Dodo Code

To play local Animal Crossing: New Horizons co-op, you’ll need to use your NookPhone. Follow these steps to play local co-op with other players on the same screen:

  • Use the NookPhone
  • Open up the “Call Islander” app
  • Call any person living on your island

That’s all there is to it. You can play with up to four players on the same console in local co-op. The screen doesn’t split, mind, and you’ll all be following the leader of the group (the player that makes the initial calls). The leader is who can buy items and interact with things, too. Change the leader by shaking the controller and pressing A. Any items held by the leader when they leave will be placed in the Recycle Bin in Resident Services.
