What are caches in Call of Duty: Warzone?

Warzone does a lot to shake up the traditional Call of Duty formula. Like in other battle royale games, Warzone players need to keep an eye out for new weapons and equipment. In Call of Duty: Warzone, caches are places to find weapons, ammunition, and equipment. While the word “cache” may be considered the technical term, they’re more commonly referred to as supply boxes, supply crates, or Buy Stations.

There are several different kinds of caches in Warzone. The most common type is the supply box, which appears in-game as a crate. These crates are color-coded based on the rarity of the items inside. Green crates have Uncommon items, blue crates have Rare items, purple crates have Epic items, and gold crates have Legendary items.

A less-common type of cache is the Buy Station. These are places where you can exchange your hard-earned cash for things like loadout drops, self-revive kits, armor plates, and killstreaks. Warzone also features Special Supply Boxes, those these are only available when completing Scavenger Contracts.

Caches are extremely important to find, since Warzone players drop onto the island with only a handgun. Any additional weapons, armor, or other loot can only be acquired either through caches or ground drops. Ground drops don’t technically count as caches since they’re not a repository for various items. Instead, they’re just instances of individual items found littered about — typically low-level weapons or ammunition.

Aside from simply staying alive, finding caches in Warzone should be your top priority. After all, you won’t be able to survive for long without finding loot through supply crates or Buy Stations. Ground drops may help in the early stages of a match, but you’ll need gear taken from caches if you want to see the match through to the end.
