Is there a FIFA 21 free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X? EA Sports next major football/soccer title is set to release on both current-gen and next-gen machines, but can you upgrade from the current-gen version to the next-gen version of the game for free? FIFA 21 free upgrade

Yes. You can upgrade your FIFA 21 PS4 or Xbox One copy to the PS5 or Xbox Series X version for free. If you buy FIFA 21 on PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for free. If you buy FIFA 21 on Xbox One, you can upgrade to the Xbox Series X version for free. All you need to do is buy and play FIFA 21 on current-gen before the release of FIFA 22.

EA Sports is calling the process “Dual Entitlement.” There are some rules you need to follow to make sure you get your free next-gen copy of FIFA 21. As stated above, you will need to have bought and played FIFA 21 on your PS4 or Xbox One to upgrade to next-gen for free. Follow these steps to find out how to get your FIFA 21 free upgrade on PS5 and Xbox Series X:

  • Buy and play FIFA 21 on your PS4 or Xbox One before FIFA 22 is released
  • You can upgrade from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X
  • Dual Entitlement works digitally and physically
    • If you play a physical copy of FIFA 21 on current-gen, you will receive a free download on next-gen
      • You need to use your PS4 FIFA 21 disc to play on PS5 if bought physical
      • You need to use your Xbox One FIFA 21 disc to play on Xbox Series X if bought physical
    • Buy a digital download of FIFA 21 on PS4 if you’re planning on getting the all-digital, disc-less PS5

Any progress you have made in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team and VOLTA Football modes will carry over to the next-gen version of the game. In other modes, such as Career Mode, progress does not carry over.
