Traps are back in Fortnite as part of the High Explosives limited-time mode. Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on your view on the items), Traps have not returned to the standard modes of Fortnite. You cannot find or use a Trap in a standard match of solo, duos, or whatever, no matter what you feel about them. While Traps are not in Fortnite properly, they are in the High Explosives LTM.

You need to play the High Explosives LTM to find and use Traps in Fortnite again. In this LTM, the only weapons are the explosive ones. This means that while Traps can be deployed in the LTM, you are more than capable of dealing with them. Traps in regular game modes, as it turned out, can be spammed with some ease. It was not too difficult to use Traps as your primary base defense if that’s how you played. Without the use of explosive weapons, too, Traps are tricky to remove for opposition players. Eventually, Traps were Vaulted. The return, however, in an LTM suggests Epic Games could be considering bringing Traps back.

Popular weapons and items in LTMs can be worked into the main game in Fortnite. While there is no guarantee, of course, this could happen with Traps. The High Explosives LTM could be a test run for the return of Traps, course, though, it could simply be a fun new mode for us to play. While Traps may return eventually, without any word from Epic Games, we don’t know when they’ll be back, not to mention if they’ll return at all.
