Destroy All Humans | How to kill soldiers with grenades

Learning how to kill soldiers with grenades in Destroy All Humans is deceptively hard. You’d think you would just use psychokinesis to chuck a grenade at them and then move on. But the hard part is figuring out how to get them to throw grenades in the first place. You’ll need to understand this in the eleventh mission in order to get the Mandatory Option trophy or achievement.

Killing soldiers with grenades is the optional challenge in the eleventh mission (Suburb of the Damned), which is still one of the hardest missions in the game. There’s a lot to take in and staying alive is just a task in and of itself. But, again, killing the soldiers with grenades isn’t the difficult part; the difficult part is getting them to throw grenades in the first place. You’re probably going to die or restart a lot to get them to toss grenades.

In order to get them to throw grenades, hiding from their sight is your best bet since they are more likely to toss grenades at you when they can’t physically see you. Go behind a building or some other big structure and some of them should start throwing grenades near you after a few seconds. You’ll know because the game highlights grenades with big orange circles on the ground. Just be sure to not stray too far because they’ll start doing shooting at the radio towers.

When that happens, pick up the grenade with your psychokinesis, press the aiming button on a soldier, and release the psychokinesis button to toss the grenade (which is highlighted by the red circle in the picture). This should hit them if they do not move. This should also work with the big robot grenades as well but you’re better off destroying those as soon as possible since they can do some heavy damage to the radio towers.

This will net you one of the challenges, which puts you another step close to the Mandatory Option trophy. If you want help on the rest of the trophies or achievements, you can check out our trophy guide and roadmap.
