How to start the Control AWE DLC

Knowing how to start the Control AWE DLC is the first step in figuring out what weird stuff this expansion has in store. It can weirdly be a little confusing to find the DLC, especially if you’ve spent some time away from the game and are just coming back. So how do you find the Control AWE DLC?

How to start the Control AWE DLC

First off, you don’t need to beat the entire game to play the AWE DLC. You also don’t have to beat the game’s first expansion, The Foundation. You only have beat the seventh main mission titled “The Face of the Enemy,” have the newest update installed, and either have the Ultimate Edition, season pass, or have purchased the AWE DLC separately.

If you’ve met those requirements, then a mission should pop up called “A Dark Place.” Go into your mission menu to activate it then make your way to the Executive Sector and Central Executive Control Point.

From that Control Point, look straight ahead to see the Sector Elevator right in front of you. You see that sign? Go in that direction.

Once you keep going in that direction, a familiar voice will pop up with an accompanying video.

Go into the elevator and press the button to go the Investigations Sector. That is where the AWE DLC is so you should be good to go.

In essence, here’s how to start the Control AWE DLC:

  • Make sure you’ve beaten at least the seventh story mission called “The Face of the Enemy.”
  • Go to the Executive Sector.
  • Get to the Central Executive Control Point.
  • Look for the Sector Elevator that should be right in front of you.
  • Walk toward that elevator.
  • Get inside the elevator and press the button.
  • Go to the Investigations Sector.

That should be it. The AWE DLC is about four or so hours, depending on how long you wander. It all takes place within that sector, too.
