Depending on your goal in game do the driving. If your goal is to collect as many coins as you can in one run don’t bother with all of the sideswipes. If your goal is to go as far as possible, avoid everybody and don't bother collecting things along the way.
Keep in mind you will have three different missions at a time that you can complete, and when you complete them you will earn a large coin reward for doing so. You can skip over a mission anytime that you want to you, but you will have to pay pills (the premium currency of the game) to do so.
To earn free coins you can always go to the IAP store and watch advertisement videos. Every video that you watch will earn you 100 free coins.
Regular takedowns are accomplished when you sideswipe somebody who is going in the same direction as you are, and golden takedowns are accomplished when you sideswipe somebody who is going in the opposite direction. A near miss is most easily accomplished on the wrong side of the road; drive as close to another driver as you can and almost hit them to get a near miss.
