Collectibles
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse asks players to collect two items in order to reach 100% completion: heart squids and cacklebats. The former not only adds to the completion percentage, but it also increases Shantae's maximum health. Take four heart squids to the Squidsmith in Scuttle Town to receive a new heart container.
Cacklebats are a bit harder to find, and players must defeat them in order to suck their dark magic into the lamp. There's no in-game benefit to collecting them like the heart squids, but 100% completion actually affects the game's ending (as does the speed in which you beat the game). In that sense, it's worth it to collect all heart squids and cacklebats in order to get the best ending.
The actual process of finding these items depends on your skills and abilities, so be sure to revisit old locations when you receive items like the pistol or cannon. There may be a ledge that seems impossible to reach at some point, but an hour or two later you'll be back there with a cool new ability to aid you on your journey.

Learn Backdash
- Description: An advanced Fighter's Move! Quickly evade your attacker.
- While standing, press the L Button to Back Dash!
Learn Recover
- Description: An advanced Fighter's Move! Backflip to recover from a heavy hit.
- When a foe knocks you right off your feet, press the B Button to recover!
Learn Power Kick
- Description: An advanced Fighter's Move! A powerful offensive attack.
- Cost: 400 Gems
Unlockable Items
These items are awarded to the player throughout the game for completing dungeons and islands. Remember to visit previous locations with each new item to uncover new secrets.
Pistol
- Description: Press the A Button to fire Risky's Pistol! Useful for hitting distant foes or switches.
Hat
- Description: Hold the R Button while airborne to deploy Risky's Hat. Use it to float over hazards.
Scimitar
- Description: Press the L Button while airborne to perform a downthrust! Great for destroying barriers or bouncing over dangers!
Boots
- Description: Risky's Boots! Run to build up speed, then press the Y button when they release their raw energy!
Cannon
- Description: Jump while airborne to fire Risky's Cannon!Fires a deadly blast, and propels you into the air for triple jumping power!
