Black Ops Cold War crashing fix

Black Ops Cold War Crashing Fix for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War crashing is something that is affecting players across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Unfortunately, it is a difficult problem to fix, as different crashes appear to be happening to different players. Players are reporting fatal errors, crashing to desktop, and more, with different parts of the game causing different crashes. Thankfully, though, there are a number of Black Ops Cold War crashing fixes that work and get people back into the game.

How to fix Black Ops Cold War crashes

Black Ops Cold War crashing fix

There are many reports of various different CoD: Black Ops Cold War crashes across every platform the game is available on. Players are reporting crashes to desktop on PC, fatal errors (including the Leaderboards fatal error warning), and moments where the console crashes and turns off, leaving the controller on.

Black Ops Cold War crashing fixes

  • Restart the game.
  • Restart the console/PC.
  • Check internet connection and make sure it’s working.
  • Download and install new graphics driver updates on PC.
  • Reduce graphical settings on PC to create less stress on components.
  • Wait for an update.
    • Look out for official Black Ops Cold War posts on upcoming updates and fixes.
  • Reinstall the game.
    • Try a different drive if possible.
  • Verify game files.
  • Install on an SSD.
  • Scan and repair files.
  • Turn off RTX or ray-tracing.
  • Try to avoid Leaderboards for now.
  • Try switching from borderless fullscreen to standard fullscreen or vice-versa.

If none of the quick (general) fixes above work, the best option is to wait for Treyarch to patch the crashes out. The game is in something of a broken state at launch, and as with other games before it, it should be fixed relatively quickly. Hopefully, though, some of these fixes can help with frame-rate and stutter issues, too.
