When is the Moon Knight episode 1 Disney Plus release date?

Moon Knight is coming to Disney Plus, with the series’ episode 1 release date and time being a hot-button topic among Marvel fans. The comic book superhero isn’t one of Marvel’s most illustrious characters, but the MCU certainly has a habit of transforming lesser-known into established names (see: Ant-man, Wanda, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.). As such, comic fans are expecting a lot from the upcoming series, and want to know when they can watch it.

So when is Moon Knight coming to Disney Plus? Here’s what we know about its release date so far.

Moon Knight episode 1 will release on Disney Plus in 2022, with the series set to consist of six episodes. Filming is expected to begin this year, with Oscar Isaac taking the lead role.

Jeremy Slater, whose previous works include The Umbrella Academy and the 2015 Fantastic Four film, has been hired as the lead writer, with Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead set to direct episodes.

For those who don’t know Moon Knight, the character is most commonly compared to DC’s Batman as a result of him also having a millionaire entrepreneur alter-ego. However, as his name suggests, Moon Knight also serves as the moon’s knight of vengeance, giving him a much more elaborate goal than the caped crusader.

Little is known about what the upcoming Disney Plus series will entail, aside from Isaac taking the titular role. With Isaac being most famous for his role as the Star Wars sequel’s Poe Dameron, this is the next Disney project the actor is taking part in, albeit away from the big screen.

There is no concrete air date for the show just yet, with it launching as part of the MCU’s Phase Four following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. This phase included the concluded WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, with it also set to include upcoming films such as Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In other news, the Mortal Kombat team NetherRealm may be making a brand new Marvel fighting game. We also previewed the upcoming Apex Legends season 9.
