Mass Effect Legendary Edition Spectre Weapons

How to fix the Mass Effect Legendary Edition Spectre Weapons not appearing bug

As RPG-shooters the Mass Effect games are all about collecting the best weapons possible to fight the Reaper invasion, and the Mass Effect Legendary Edition Spectre Weapons are some of the best available. Unfortunately, as of right now the best Spectre Gear X weapons are bugged and are essentially missing from the new re-release of Mass Effect 1. Fortunately, there’s a fix available, or at least a workaround.

The only way to fix the missing Spectre Weapons bug is by having a save from just before Shepard becomes a Spectre in Mass Effect 1.

Load the save, watch the cutscene, and then immediately head to the C-Sec Requisitions Officer and open the store. This will update the inventory across the game, meaning that the player can now load their latest campaign save and the X-level Spectre Weapons should be available.

This workaround was discovered by Reddit user Xecil. If the player doesn’t already have a save game from before Shepard becomes a Spectre and doesn’t want to play through the game again just to fix this bug, JohnC2211 on NexusMods has kindly made a savegame available. It’s a real bare-bones save file so it’s only intended to fix the Spectre gear issue, but as mentioned, once the Spectre master gear is available in the C-Sec store it should be unlocked in a later save too.

The reason the bug is happening is that the X-level Spectre gear was originally tied to the ‘Rich’ achievement, but now BioWare has reworked things so the trigger that connects the achievement and the Spectre weapons no longer work.

This is certainly not the only problem with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition right now. Xbox Series X crashes have mostly been fixed, but there are still problems with interaction and bugs with the Mako vehicle too. Hopefully BioWare is working on a patch for all these issues right now.
