The latest The Ascent update patch notes are here, detailing what may be the first major patch for the cyberpunk RPG. There are many issues that players are hoping the first big The Ascent patch could fix, such as lag, stuttering, and all the various performance issues the game is suffering from. So what’s in The Ascent patch notes for August 5, and is the update for both Xbox and PC? Let’s see.

What’s in The Ascent update patch notes?

The Ascent update notes

The Ascent update for August 5 isn’t a colossal patch but improves on areas such as UI and difficulty settings, along with a few other improvements that players are detailing. The August patch size is between 2.5 GB and 5.7 GB depending on the platform, with the larger size seemingly specific to the Game Pass version and the lower for the Xbox One version.

The main improvements according to the Fextralife Wiki are adding a Difficulty level slider to the game’s Settings menu, which is useful to anyone struggling in the campaign who wants to lower their difficulty without restarting their game — or raising it, if they wish. There are also some “significant” improvements to the game’s UI on Xbox platforms. Some players have also reported fixes to issues such as looping audio glitches, elevator problems, and being able to fire after using the Lock-On skill, but these aren’t verified.

Is The Ascent update for August 5 on Steam?

As of writing The Ascent update for August 5 is only available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, and Windows Store — it is not available on the Steam version of the game. However, a recent update spotted on SteamDB suggests that there will be a The Ascent patch for today on Steam which will likely be the same one as on Xbox. Don’t expect this one to fix any of the game’s major issues such as co-op problems just yet, however.
