Pokemon TCG Live: Can you trade with other players?

Pokemon Trading Card Game Live is “coming soon” as a replacement for the Pokemon TCG Online app. Of course, players are curious about how existing features might transfer to the new application; one of the most notable is the ability to trade packs online. So, is there Pokemon TCG Live trading support? Here’s the lowdown on player trading in the new Pokemon TCG app, straight from The Pokemon Company.

Is there Pokemon TCG Live trading with other players?

Pokemon TCG Live does not allow players to trade cards or packs online. Unlike Pokemon Trading Card Game Online before it, Pokemon TCG Live doesn’t let users swap cards from their deck with other app users.

The Pokemon Company hasn’t done anything to elaborate on this change at the time of writing. Many fans see it as a backstep, with a majority of players marking the official announcement as an unhelpful article. It does seem like an odd decision to remove key functionality in what should be an upgrade over the original, so the frustration is understandable.

It could be worth considering the wording of the FAQ reveal, though: “Players will not be able to trade cards with other players within Pokemon TCG Live.” This could leave the door open to a standalone Pokemon TCG Live trading app or service. Players won’t be able to do it within the PC, Mac, Android, and iPhone (iOS) application — might it be possible elsewhere, however? It’s only possible to speculate at this early stage, but stay tuned for any official updates.

In better Pokemon TCG Live news, players can transfer Pokemon Trading Card Game Online cards. All cards will import and eventually be usable, though there won’t be full deck support right away.

Finally, will there be a Pokemon TCG Live Nintendo Switch version? Here’s the latest on a Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED model port.
