Metroid Dread Stuck After Beating First Boss: Where to go when you get to Cataris

Metroid Dread players might find themselves stuck after beating the first boss. Getting the Phantom Cloak ability from Corpius lets Samus access the elevator that leads to the next area. However, once players get to Cataris, they might get stuck since it looks like all the paths are too hot for Samus to survive. Furthermore, the way ahead is well hidden, and many players won’t immediately notice how to access it.

Where do I go when I first get to Cataris in Metroid Dread?

Metroid Dread Stuck in Cataris

When players get to Cataris in Metroid Dread for the first time, they should blast through the wall to the left and head through the hidden passage.

Most of the game up to the point where players reach Cataris is relatively straightforward. Unfortunately, this is likely the first part of Metroid Dread (which is exclusive to Switch) that will prove to be confusing. There’s nothing really pointing players in the right direction, and the obvious route through Cataris takes players to hot areas that they can’t currently pass through.

Frustrated players might return to Artaria, which will only lead to more frustration as the passaged out of the northeastern part of the map are blocked. Fortunately, heading to the left after exiting the elevator in Cataris will take players to where they need to go, including a new EMMI area. From here on out, the map becomes more of a puzzle, so players should get used to the right way to go, not being the most obvious.

The biggest blocker in Cataris is, of course, EMMI. While this one isn’t any more aggressive than the one in Artaria, it’s just as vigilant in its patrolling. However, the Phantom Cloak can make a big difference, and this section can be easier than the last if players use it at the right time.

Now that players know where to go in Cataris, they can continue making their way upward toward their ship.
