Call of Duty Vanguard fix Dev Error 5573 bug

Call of Duty: Vanguard: How to fix ‘Dev Error 5573’ bug

Call of Duty: Vanguard players are receiving an annoying error message in the multiplayer menus. After attempting to implement visual customizations — equipping Operator skins, Emblems, and Calling Card elements — the game can crash to desktop/console home screen. In doing so, players receive the CoD: Vanguard “Dev Error 5573” notification. Is there a quick, easy, and best fix in place? Here’s the latest on a solution to the 5573 developer error for users on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC.

Here’s how to fix the Call of Duty: Vanguard Dev Error 5573 glitch:

  • Only use the base/default Operator skins.
  • Don’t equip new Emblems.
  • Avoid editing the Calling Card.
  • Ensure that CoD: Vanguard is up to date:
    • This bug will likely receive a patch or hotfix soon, so keep an eye out for updates.

Fortunately, this error isn’t a game-breaking bug. Players can still access every Call of Duty: Vanguard mode and map, just with a basic cosmetic loadout in place. Although that’ll still come as a disappointment to many, hopefully, it won’t take long for Sledgehammer Games and Activision to implement a solution.

While the dev team is almost certainly aware of the issue, due to how widespread it is, contacting Activision Support may help to expedite a fix. The more (respectful) noise that users make about an issue, the higher priority a solution usually becomes. With the problem impacting users on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC it’s a pretty widespread bug.

At the end of the day, glitched CoD: Vanguard cosmetics aren’t good for the publisher and developers’ bottom line either. Activision wants gamers to spend money on in-game cosmetics, which they aren’t as likely to do if they negatively affect the experience.
